Active, interested roleplayers for A Junction of Minds
The universe began in the Great Split, the split of Pure Nothingness into existence and consciousness. This idea is fundamental to a lot of the game's basics. It means that the mind holds special powers, abilities to shape reality, The Great Illusion as sorcerers and psions call it. Sorcerers gain their power through tapping other minds and certain fundamental pillars of the Illusion. Psions, and monks to a lesser degree, gain power through the focus and advancement of their minds to otherwise supernatural levels. Paladins and clerics gain power through tapping the Great Minds, the minds of Gods. Druids and rangers tap into the forces of nature and the minds of beasts. There is no wizard class. The game is set, at least in the beginning, in the city of Elurai, the largest city on the continent of Lacurin. The city is entirely surrounded by mountains. There are countless people and organizations vying for power, or whatever their goals may be. There are different gods in place of the standard. There are also two new races, the Tolvsré and the Pesrif. If you're interested, go to the game and read up on all the information I've posted there, which goes beyond what I've mentioned here. Don't necessarily feel obligated to read every word, but most of it is pretty important. That done, feel free to write up a character background and sheet. That can be emailed to me at heraldoftheyellowsun@yahoo.com. I'd like you to tie your characters into the information posted on the game. I would prefer characters of levels 6-8. If you want a prestige class or template, that's probably fine, but PM me if you don't want to write something up with a chance of it being declined. I'm looking for people who can write a good character with a good background, preferably sometime soon, and who will take an active role in the game beyond making rolls and vague inquiries. Players should be able to guide their games as much as I do, but I need solid information about them so I can help. Feel free to create new gods or new organizations within reason; I'm all for anything that helps you get into the game and me get into your character. Oh, and people should be able to post at least most days, if not every day. Keep in mind that there are a lot of options for psionic and magic characters as well as all others. Also: unless there are extraordinary circumstances, your character will be in his own thread at least for the beginning, quite possibly for the game's duration. This way you won't know the thoughts and mechanics of people you meet, and I like the idea that you could be working with a PC without knowing it. I guess I can't just say something like Securis said in his thread...

The way I get it, in this world, magic (or the force to which we apply that name) is somehow bound to the sum of various consciousnesses in and around the world - which is a very (or at least mildly) interesting way of explaining that specific force.
As for the campaign itself - the whole deal looks very interesting (by the general gist of it, I mean), and it's obvious that you have put a lot of work into this - however, there is a slight problem (on my side of the fence, I mean) - now, when I first saw this post and made up my mind I found that hmm, this IS interesting, HOWEVER!! I am not familiar with 3.0 at all - apart from the similiarities with 3.5, that is - and so I didn't really post until now. I mean, come on. Burritos and dog-theft. Can't say no to that.

O.o
I've got the same problem that he has.. I'm only familiar with the 3.5 system. Though I can get my hands on some 3.0 books, I'd like to know if I should bother.
If I can't get into this campaign, I don't wanna go through the trouble to get the books. I'm just trying to get myself into a campaign, and this one seems interesting enough to put my attentions to. I have a fighter and a cleric I have prepared already, if it's ok for me to get into this campaign. |

Hmm. I, unlike these others, am perfectly fine with 3.0, as that's what I started with. Is material from 3.5 sourcebooks allowed, though? Because, quite frankly, I'd love to play a cosmopolitan, nice-as-can-be nazcharun (or whatever it is) rakshasa, featured in the MMIII. They're like super-stealth rakshasa.
If that's a no-go, I think I'd go with a fae-like creature, borrowing liberally from WW's raksha, using a few class levels and some Outsider hit dice, if that sounds okay. Lemme know which one you think would fit best.

Ah, good ol' 3.0. I understand. You shouldn't need to get books. For one thing, there's the SRD on this site. I haven't personally used it much, because I have books, but I hear it's fairly comprehensive. Inversely to your situation, I don't have a vast understanding of 3.5, but I know a few things. I do know that the core is pretty much the same. The ranger is d10 rather than d8, "survival" is "wilderness lore," "sleight of hand" is "pickpocket," and "intuit direction" and "innuendo" are two skills they got rid of, innuendo being the more awesome of the two. There are others, for which I would check the SRD. So basically, you'd have to learn some differences, but I don't think there's anything extensive, and you can learn things on a case by case basis, unless you really want to gain all the information at once. Stuff from the Complete series is more likely than core to not fit in with 3.0, so you'd have to check with me.
So if you think you can adapt to 3.0, cool. You may play, assuming you make a character that doesn't cause me to vomit or punch through my chimney. Khabi, the fighter should be fine if you can connect him with the information posted in the game. The cleric could be all right, but he'd have to be for one of the gods I've posted rather than for one of the standard deities. |

Naes: glad to have you on board. Of the two, I prefer the Nazcharun, as long as it has a good background. Keep in mind that his super-stealthiness will probably come in handy, even if he's nice-as-can-be. I don't know what the level adjustment for it is, but try not to go overboard.

Here's a cool idea I just had. It doesn't really pertain to character creation and such, but I just have to bear my soul. If the system of isolated, individual threads continues throughout the game, when it's over, I'll throw open all the threads for all to see and people can find out who the PCs were and how much they actually interacted with them. That would be damn cool. If I weren't me, I would wish I was.
