Thanks for the input, I probably went a little much Saitama. Part of the idea game from the villain who Saitama first defeat who ate so much crab he became one and that reminded me of a character I created years ago.

The concept of his ancestor being a story that his parents told him to explain why he is the way he is sounds fun. They could of noticed the ability when he was younger.

Another key point of the power is that he will not always get a new ability. If and what abilities he gains is up to you, he could be a blank slate at he start with Martial Arts training. A part of this story is his quest to find things which grant him new abilities.

Another point what I think is interesting is how far will I go to gain new abilities, would I consider eating the heart and brain (where the most power is found) from a human? Is that a line that Arthur will cross. (That might be too serious a topic for the game though)

If you find the who concept overpowered please say and I we come up with something else. I will make some modifications to the character.

Rai "Pixel Paladin" UmeharaName: Rai "Pixel Paladin" Umehara
High Concept: Game Junkie Turned Game Character
Trouble: Suicidal Overconfidence

Power: Enhanced agility, strength and stamina, and the ability to find convenient items in chests that seemingly appear at random. Granted by a freak accident when he was testing a hyper-realistic VR game he was called in to playtest that somehow turned him into a character from the game.
Aspects:
I've Got Mad Skills - Rai believes any problem can be overcome with cunning strategy and force of will, and always tries to prove this by overcoming challenges with his 'mad skills' regardless of whether or not he's actually capable of it.
Justice Lies At The Tip of My Sword - Rai is a heavy believer in all things GOOD! and JUSTICE!, or at least what he considers "good". He'll always try to deliver righteous justice, regardless of whether or not he needs to.
Who Needs Reality? - All that time spent playing video games and actually being a game character has slightly unhinged Rai's view of reality. He has a hard time differentiating reality and fiction, at this point.
Writing Sample: This was my first in-game post. I've received pretty warm reception to it.

Granny Danger
right-aligned image

Name: Danielle "Danny" Granger

Horrible Hero Alias: Granny Danger

High Concept: Deranged Elemental Invoker

Power: Granny Danger is a "wizard", or at least that's what the people see her as. In truth, she is a chemist, who carries various compounds in vials (thrown like grenades) and pills to keep her in fighting shape. Mostly, she uses elemental "magic".

Trouble: Granny Danger is addicted to the drugs, that she has concocted. She consumes them with every meal, fearful that her body would revert to its natural state and crumble, if she quits.

Appearance: A lady, who's a hundred years old, but has a body in its peak physical condition. The only thing that shows her age is her hair and the manner in which she talks down to people. She sports a black spandex suit, with matching gloves and boots. On her belt and on the countless pockets in her crimson coat are her trademark chemicals, stashed in various tiny space age containers.

Personality: Having lived most of her life in solitude, the mad and forgetful Granny Danger has the social skills of a cat, in that she unintentionally treats others as if they were beneath her. She doesn't have a strong sense of justice either. She fights crime because it makes her feel alive.

Aspects:
  • New Age Hermit: Once, the old lady had a family - a loving husband and three ugly children. She lost all of them, about sixty years ago. Since then she has locked herself away, doing the only thing left that she loves, her work.
  • Research Head: After one Dragon-level event, Granny Danger emerged from her underground research facility and worked for the Hero Association, at one point even heading her own unit, in an attempt to increase the number of metahumans, against the steadily rising increase of supervillain activity.
  • Adopted Daughter of K City: Granny Danger used herself as the first test subject for her project, which led to her saving the mayor of K City from death.

Writing Sample: This isn't what I would consider my best post, but it's been my favorite one so far, and the one which I feel best represents the way I write.

Bob Smith, Monster HunterName Robert "Bob" Smith, Hero Name "Shaper"
High Concept Shape-shifting Monster Hunter
Trouble Driven by Vengeance

Description
A tall, built young man, Bob originally grew up as nothing special. He was a nobody in school, earning only passing grades and spending most of his time playing video games or browsing the Internet. He was just graduating high school when the Hero Association was founded, and has since aged four years to make his current age twenty-two. After a dormant mole monster almost destroyed his city, killed his little sister, and nearly killed him and his parents in the process, Bob has been working out nearly every day since and has transformed into a ripped young man with enhanced stamina, strength, and endurance. He wants to destroy any and all threats to his city so no one else has to die.

Power
In addition to having above-average physical prowess, Bob has obtained the ability to "absorb" the powers of monsters and mysterious beings. He cannot absorb full powers (For example, he cannot absorb Boros' power and immediately perform Meteoric Strike) but instead absorbs an aspect of his opponent, such as its strength or speed or some sort of ability like flight or fire breath. He doesn't know he can do this, however, and has only absorbed the strength and size of his first monster.

Aspects

I Can Think Later. Bob likes to run into battle without thinking of a battle tactic first.

Always One More. Bob will not rest until all of the monsters and mysterious beings are destroyed.

Civilians First. Always. Bob will go out of his way to protect the innocent from monsters, even if it means more danger for him.

@GrandCommander13, Osse, BP: Irrashaimase! Welcome!

@Bhelliom Rahl: Eating hearts and brains of the human variety would be pushing it.

@Osse: Not quite sold on your Research Division Chief aspect... 'forced' is a strong word. Remember, you are all starting out as C class heroes.

ApplicationName: Samantha Jones
High Concept: Heat powered science student
Trouble: Pedantic beyond belief, especially about misunderstood science

Description: Samantha was a (mostly) normal student in City F before she gained her powers. Even now, she is more concerned with her studies than being a hero and mostly uses her powers in everyday life. She only continues to meet her Class C quotas because she is always determined to see any task through. Not being at all physically impressive, she makes her way through most combat encounters with clever application of her powers and her scientific knowledge. She is quite short and a bit overweight, but perfectly happy with her appearance. She has short ginger hair and wears glasses, but will put in contact lenses while running around doing hero work.

Power: After a freak cosmic ray powered exposion at a university lab experiment involving microwaves, Samantha gained the power to emit microwave radiation from her hands (and feet, although that's trickier to aim). This effectively means short range heat rays but it can also be used for other effects such as to create electrical charges in metal objects.

Aspects:
Science will win the day: For Sam, the sciences are the only fields worth studying and she studies them passionately. While her devotion to physics and maths has made her very knowledgable in those fields she is sorely lacking in others, especially when it comes to people skills.
Analysis, design and then implementation: Sam always tries to come up with a plan and rarely does anything without thinking it through first. Even if that does means letting the monster destroy a bit more of the city while she thinks.
Ordered mind, disordered life: While she always thinks with a cool head and logic, Sam is horrendous at organizing anything but her thoughts. She can never tidy anything, often leaves assignments to the last minute and is generally inefficient at everything but science experiments.

Writing Sample:
Samantha was up (as always) when her flatmate came through. ”Why do you always get up so early, even on a Saturday?” Claire asked, as she began to rummage through the cluttered fridge. ”Oh, and do you want bacon and eggs?”

Without looking up from her newspaper Sam responded, ”carpe diem; seize the day. And I already had some, thank you.” She continued reading for a moment before remembering something else and continuing, ”by the way, the cooker’s broken again. Want my help?” A household appliance breaking down was a regular part of student life.

”Thanks,” Claire replied, somewhat irritated at the stove. She got the bacon and eggs into the pan and brought it over to table on a thick board where Sam held one hand over it. Invisible microwaves leapt from her palm and focussed to a point in the centre of the pan, heating everything up. This was becoming a sort of ritual by now; given the frequency things broke around the flat. After the food was ready, Claire sat down opposite Sam and began to eat. ”You know, with powers that useful you really should consider joining the Hero Association,” she said between bites.

”Maybe, but I’ve told you before; I’m more concerned with student life and our studies. Besides, do I really look like I could be a proper hero?” Sam was always somewhat annoyed by the assumption that just because she had superpowers she was expected to be a superhero. Not everyone was cut out to do that.

Suddenly, a large boom sound came from outside. Rushing over to the window they both saw a bizarre mechanical monster landing in the street, cracking the tarmac. It looked like it had been cobbled together by someone who had never fully grasped the concept of engine but felt they could do it anyway. It was vaguely humanoid in shape and seemed to be held up by large balloons, as if it would topple over otherwise. Claire and Sam both looked at each other in bewilderment for a moment before Claire raised the obvious question. ”Do you reckon you could deal with that?”

Seeing the (probably) imminent peril the street was in, Sam dashed down the stairs, still in her pyjamas, slippers and dressing gown. As she came out the front door she noticed someone sitting within the machine pulling levers and yelling into a microphone. ”That’s right flee! Flee before the might of the mighty Stompah!” The words echoed obnoxiously across the street as most people did in fact flee from the giant mess of gears and pistons. Sam, however, just stood there stroking her chin as she pondered the situation before her. She was quickly noticed by the person piloting the collection of nuts and bolts that passed for a robot, who seemed personally insulted that someone wasn’t running from him. Continuing to stomp for a while, he bellowed a question. ”Who are you, and why are you not fleeing from the might of the mighty Stompah!?”

”Just one question, those balloons are filled with helium right?” Sam inquired.

Obviously confused the man replied, ”yes, now why don’t you flee!?”

”It’s just that helium doesn’t react with oxygen quite as violently as hydrogen does.” With that she lifted up both hands, spreading her arms out to ensure that the most rays were brought to a focal point and let the microwaves fire out towards one of the balloons.

The explosion was, as predicted, not that devastating. It was still incredibly loud and Sam’s ears were ringing as she walked back up the stairs to the flat. Getting an elevated view from the window she was quite pleased with her handiwork (apart from the moderate property damage – a few windows were broken), seeing that the machine was now incapable of standing up without its buoyancy. Turning to Claire she said, ”You know what? Maybe I will sign up to the Hero Association.”

I know you're saying we're starting out as C-class heroes, but, well, so did Saitama. What Fight and Athletics scores would, say, a civilian, Mumun Rider, and Sonic have? You know what? Give me Spring Moustache's scores too, because I really like him.

A civilian would have +0 or lower if you really wanted them to roll.

Mumen Rider’s would be roughly 1 or 2. It's difficult to really gauge his real ability since he went up against the Sea King who made even A classes look like C classes.

Speed of sound sonic sound certainly be at cap level or a bit higher at 6 or more.

The S classes will be distinguished mostly by having more stunts and refreshes than the rest.

Spring Mustachio's would be 4 or 5, but with a stunt or two dedicated to defense and endurance.

Isn't the cap +8? +4 is only the cap for starting, I think. I know +8 has an adjective (I think it's "superb").

And of course I can't stop myself from thinking about skills. Are we stuck with the pyramid for our starting skills, or can we go with the columns if we'd like to? (It's basically taking two of your +1s and giving a +1 each to a +2 and a +3.)

@GC13: The cap varies from game to game. For now, +6 is the soft cap while the +8 is the hard cap. It's extremely unlikely anyone'll reach +8 or even +7 in the course of the game. During character creation I'd like you to stick with the pyramid scheme.

@Thirteen: Thanks! Does this mean you'll apply?

@Felloffalot: Yup, saw it. I'll review it once I have time.

@Gylther: No worries!

Man, reading your first post I don't think you give C-class heroes enough credit.

I was on the OPM subreddit for giggles and apparently there are two pages where Child Emperor develops a "scouter" for muscle mass/strength. They set a decent C-class (Red Muffler, rank 89) as 100 and it turns out that he's 4.5x as strong as a typical office worker (that is to say, assuming a typical office worker could bench press 90 pounds however many times, he could do four hundred pounds just as easily). Of course the two A-class heroes in the room are sixteen times (rank 10) and twenty-four times (rank 13) as strong as him, so there's a tall cap.

I mean, holy cow, even Child Emperor is almost nineteen times as strong as him. I don't think we're working people who are filled with determination, I think we're working with people filled with varying grades of super soldier serum.

Am I geeking out too much? I'm sorry, but it's just so cool.

The funny thing is though when he scans King and Saitama, both read as unreadable but for very different reasons.
