I am not sure what PTU and PTA are short for. Sorry to see you go Aximus. To answer as much as possible before I pass out :
- I might have misremebered that as being how natures worked or something like that. I'm rereading the rules now before the game starts. Sorry for confusion. - Skarmory is rare. - Tidalfox is actually in a shadowrun game I am currently DMing on the site. It's slowed down alot. - Going to say no egg moves for now. Feel free to try and change my mind. |

Bijutsu is correct, PTU is Pokemon Tabletop United.
Having looked into it a bit: At some point the PTA dev team kind of formed a divide between those wanting to make some rather significant changes and those that didn't and the project's lead dev gave them his blessing to develop their version(PTU) independently. Then alot of the devs that had stuck with PTA drifted off until it was pretty much only the lead dev, and due to being busy irl he mostly just updates the pokedex for new versions. Personally my major issues with PTA were severe restrictions on what kind of character you can make(Building an Ace Trainer? Intelligence does you no good, High Str and Con or you're wasting most of the class. Want to be a Chef? Have to be a Breeder first. Any kind of 'powers' that aren't baseline Psychic? Oh the hoops we have for you to jump through...), certain unbalanced features(Ace Trainer pokemon sky rocket compared to any non-Ace Trainer pokemon, both in damage and experience), and no defined way for pokemon and non-pokemon to interact besides hitting each other(lack of skills or other 'ability scores' on pokemon that could be referenced like Stealth, Perception, or Insight). And having looked through the book...that's still the case. These are all the same classes, features, and general rules that were in the book I had almost three years ago. |

I can take it a step further that in said game I have actually got an Aztechnology Crawler drone in said game and named it Bachuru, Joltik's Japanese name. |

Well...I am curious to see why the DM chose this system now that I heard the Andalite's argument. I've played both systems but the PTU games haven't lasted long enough for me to say which ones I prefer.
I DM PTA because that is what was out when I started. From what I have seen, PTU offers more options. It also takes longer to create a character and adjust it each level because of that. i also need to use the Excel spreadsheet developed for PTU to keep track of it all. However, once it gets going, it can be quite seamless from what I've seen and aside from edges and skills, plays nearly identical to PTA. Personally, PTA is a lot easier to create characters and NPCs with, but I agree with Ax on the lack of options. On the other hand, I have not seen more than a single game last long enough for it to be an issue. If you take half the features of one class and all of the features of another, I was already hitting level seventeen before running out of features to tKe and in that time I hit the max for stats I needed to qualify and had already improved another stat by five - enough to take another class. Which capped me for classes pre-25. You do not need an excel spreadsheet either. Some tables following Cap Devonin's work were sufficient for me.

Oh and Bijutsu : If your a breeder, ((I would check, but I'm already in the typing box thing.)) tell me what egg move you want on one pokemon. Just make sure to remeber that you breed that pokemon personally. Sorry for being, and I qoute, asojfdaoisjfdauisofjadsf right now. I mean I actually wrote "typing box thing" because I can't think of a better term. So I'mma go maybe drown the day in some alchomohols or just pass out. Night everyone. |

PTU did seem like the better system for being the type of trainer that you want. This character doesn't depend on class too much though. I've haven't gotten to play either system yet. I just want to play pokemon and can shove my concept into either set of rules.

Typing box thing is a good term for it. Only other term I can think of is reply window or reply box. Don't think it has a name.
Hey, don't mind making a character either way and it will keep me from making four million applications for this game. Although the only other one I might have applied with would have been medic...which I am uncertain if it carried over to latest version of PTU. Will have to look. However, water trainer will still work with this. Edit: Water Trainer will DEFINITELY still work in this. I forgot that all of the classes could be entered at first level, if you're willing to spend a Feature picking it up. Except now I can't figure out if I want to do Ace Trainer/Water Type Ace, Athlete/Water Type Ace, or Rider/Water Type Ace (Milotic has Mountable 4). Also, looking at the PTU Basic/advanced abilities for Milotic: They turn the Milotics into basically beauty snobs. ![]() Fun times. Edit 2: Tempted to give my male Spheal the Oblivious Ability, just to RP a female Milotic's getting ticked off by the lack of effect from Cute Charm. xD

Wait, are we using PTU then and not PTA? I need to do some reading if that's the case.

I don't know what we're using. PTA until DM gets a look at the system. I wanted to cover all my bases and had time on my hands before work this morning.

Hey everyone. Sorry I'm only now just recovered from the other day. I'm going to push the end date back till the end of the month so I can examine the new system and make a decision on it with out feeling a need to rush.
Even if the system changes, don't worry about fixing your ad. The idea is all I really need from it and exact rules and stuff can be worked out after. |

Name: Duncan Harrison
Age: 32 Gender: Male Occupation: Drifter Class: Aura Guardian (PTU) / Martial Artist into Aura User (PTA) Starting Pokemon: Lucario, Noctowl, Nidorina Appearance: Duncan has long brown hair which he keeps pulled back in a tail, but keeps his face clean-shaven. He stands at about 5’7” and has a muscular build. His eyes are hazel. He usually dresses in a plain, simple shirt and pants. Personality: Stern, but kind. Duncan has a serious attitude and often doesn’t get jokes. He is friendly and gentle to every creature he meets, and doesn’t suffer any threats to the wellbeing of others. Quick and steady in an emergency, he is a good man to have by your side in any situation. BackgroundDuncan Harrison was born to wealth. As the scion of one of the wealthiest families in Unova, he has never wanted for anything. He could quite easily never leave home and live a grandiose lifestyle others can only dream of. He was never content with that, however, and his wandering spirit has led him far from the comforts of his parents mansion. When he was young, there were not many other children around. The family estate was quite removed from the hustle and bustle of the commoners, and it promised a lonely childhood. In order to counter the solitude, his parents bought him a poke egg. Taking care of it would teach him responsibility, and when it hatched he would have a nice audino to keep him company. It was quite surprising, then, when the egg hatched and a riolu came out. There wasn’t much they could do - taking it away would undermine the lessons they were taking to teach, and Duncan had already become attached. And it turned out well - Duncan and riolu became the best of friends. !!!!! The family kept a large library, and - with not much else to do - Duncan became an avid reader. He especially enjoyed the high adventure stories - tales of knights protecting people, of nameless men drifting into a small town and fixing their problems, and the like. As he aged, he became more convinced that this was the path his life should take - that of a drifter seeking adventure, a modern day knight-errant. To this end, he began training his mind and body, trying to forge both into steel. His riolu trained right alongside him, human and pokemon training side-by-side, forever cementing the bond between them. With rilou’s aid, Duncan discovered a deeper power hidden within - the ability to see auras. Around the time he began unlocking this ability, riolu evolved into lucario. Seeing this as an omen, Duncan Harrison to leave home. He was 17. His parents were not exactly encouraging. Adventuring was not something children of wealthy families did. They stripped him of all funds and fine things, leaving him dressed in shabby clothes, thinking to shame him into giving up this insane dream. It did not dissuade him. With lucario at his side, he began his journeys, and only looked back once. In the many years since then, they have done exactly what they set out to do. He and lucario wander from region to region, searching for adventures and protecting the weak, be they pokemon or man. They’ve come between cruel trainers and their pokemon, assisted the police with investigations, driven thieves away, saved imperiled wild pokemon and many other things. Over the years, two other pokemon have joined his side - a noctowl and a nidorina. The noctowl he saved from a raging forest fire when it was young, and it just began following him around. It went quite happily into a poke ball when it was offered. The noctowl offers great assistance after nightfall, and was once instrumental in rescuing a small child. Nidorina once belonged to a young trainer, a rich man who treated her quite cruelly. Upon seeing the abused pokemon, Duncan knew he had to intervene, and managed to get her trainer to agree to give her up. He nursed her back to health and she has remained a loyal companion. The nidorina and noctowl often run free while traveling, but go into their poke balls whenever the team reaches a city. Lucario has a poke ball, but hasn’t been inside it since it was a riolu. Recently, they’ve come aboard the fleet known as the Flotilla, a group of ships large enough to count as a city. There is quite a bit to do here, and they’ve been on board for a few months. Because of their ongoing assistance with keeping everyone in the Flotilla safe, the team has been granted small living quarters. They mainly only use it for sleep, though - when this many come together, there will be people to help and pokemon to aid, and that’s what they do best. |
