Finally had a chance to re-look at my classes with the switch over to PTU. My concept works pretty well still with Telepath and Telekinetic. However, I wanted to delve in the Oracle a little bit as well, but apparently v1.5 made the pre-reqs mutually exclusive. I've haven't had a chance to play this system yet and I'm not sure why this is the case. Some searching on the internet seems to point that these classes are kind of powerful and might tend to put the spot light on the character too much. I think my character, story wise, might actually try to avoid too much focus on him, so maybe not a problem. Anyway, it seems GMs can choose to override the restriction as long as things don't get out of hand. Just a thought. If I get selected, it probably will be something I ask for.

Other then that I've done a small amount of character sheet work, but didn't want to go overboard until I know if get selected. Hope the end of the weekend brings some good news.

Going over what all PT:U entails while I wait to see who's chosen. As much as I prefer systems more akin to D&D, I can see the draw in PT:U's depth from what I'm reading - though I am coming across some things that seem worded more complicatedly than is maybe necessary, but I'm likely just being nitpicky. I can still fit the kind of character I want to play in PT:U's structure though, so that's a plus.

Alright everyone! It looks like I've made my decision. I only wanted to bring four people in and I wanted a nice mix of stuff. If you did not get in, I'm very sorry. I don't have infinite time otherwise I would try to do a mega DMing system where everyone is all over the world with tons and tons of players doing their own stuff. Interacting in a massive world <3

But none of that. For now I hope you four enjoy.

Huzzah! I am super psyched to be a part of this game :3 Also, looks like Johnny gets to be the lone guy in the group. Not actually likely to be an effect on anything, just an interesting note to me. Going to go work on the basic stuff for a character sheet - or rather rework what I'd started on before the decision was made to shift from PTA to PT:U. Now excuse me why I go contain the shakes from my excitement. Also congrats to my fellow game members

I also find it useful to plan out my character in a simpler format. Here's the base I use in wordpad for that(it goes to fifty just for the sake of completion, because that's the max level).

 


Also there's a Party Sheet for tracking the good/bad skills among other things for a team of trainers if it'd help Pandora.

Questions for when you get back:
  • Are the starting levels still Trainer 4 and Pokemon 20?
  • Will we be using Pokemon Backgrounds? They're similar to Trainer Backgrounds in that they raise and lower a couple of the pokemon's skills to reflect their individual natures.
  • Starting budget for inventory? Are TMs on the market? Are Mentor services available for purchase? Should we be prepared to travel at the start(food, sleeping bag, etc) or are we in the middle of our everyday lives?

And for the other players, I'm still in creative mode from re-doing the image for my own trainer so I went ahead and made something for each of you. I'm a terrible artist but a pretty decent editor, so as a caution there is zero original artwork in this.


@General Note: If you do like it but would like certain features changed don't hesitate to say so. In my experience I rarely capture everything someone wanted in the first draft. Color changes are easy, new backgrounds are trivial. Changes in pose can be difficult depending on how big a change you're talking about.

Also, I'm reminded every time I do this how difficult it can be to find to find females with, shall we say, an appropriate amount of fabric.

@Alyssa: Hopefully this work. As an echo of the comment I made about fabric, I should note that the shirt and leggings were originally little more than a bra and nothing respectively.
 


@Lana: I found a few decent base images but this one had the advantage of having the cybernetic arm(on the correct side even), right hair color, general 'mechanic' ensemble, etc. Really the only change I made to this was subtly altering the color of the light flare on the leg and adding a background.
 


@Lia: Easily the hardest of the three to get right so I won't be surprised if this doesn't fit your mental image. The combination of the hair and coveralls made finding a base image difficult, in the end I used one whose clothing fit well enough and trying my best to port over a head that fit(and even that had to be modified somewhat heavily to remove the hair splaying out from the bandana)

The only thing I've had issue with on character/pokemon sheets thus far is that I feel like I am misunderstanding how the effect of the Mentor class feature actually works. It says I can have one of my Pokemon lose/spend a tutor point and then learn a tutor move marked with (N) or one of it's level-up moves equal to or below X, X being the Pokemon's level + the sum of my Mentor skills.

Now, I'm assuming this means the two skills chosen when taking Mentor, as well as the number relating to the rank (3 for Novice, 4 for Adept), meaning the limit of levelup moves it could learn via this method in it's list goes up to 27 (20 + 7), meaning a Pokemon of mine could have a move it normally wouldn't learn until up to 7 levels later. Something about this feels a little OP to me and I think that's why I'm so sketchy on it. If that's indeed how it works I won't complain though. Otherwise I love fiddling with the sheets as I really enjoy even the technical part of character creation.

As for the images, I will say I do very much appreciate the thought and effort, but I'll likely be drawing my character during idle time at my work today - though the outfit in that image does seem like a good jumping point for Alyssa's form of attire.

You've got it exactly correct. And it's not really overpowered, no more so than being able to use TMs is. Moves become slightly more useful/powerful/focused/varied/etc as they level, but not overwhelmingly so and you're permanently exchanging 1 TP per move learned in this manner to do so.

And no worries. It was mostly fixing the clothing and warping the dimensions a little to fit your description so it didn't take a great deal of time, and as I said I rarely capture the full essence on the first try, so that you got some ideas for your own work means I'm more than happy with the outcome. Honestly I'm always amazed by people that can do original artwork, if we had Backgrounds in real life it would definitely be one of my Pathetic skills.

Well good to know I was reading that correctly then.

Well, pretty pleased with my sketch/drawing of the character for now (aside from arms/hands) and I have my sheets done outside of if we're using Backgrounds and if my suggested one is okay or not. They're pretty neat if you ask me actually. Lends a little more variance to each character.
