Soooo interested in this game... I used to play a starwars d20 game where I ran a dark version of Han Solo... prestiged into crime lord!

It seems like Droids are hot stuff... I wanted to play one back in the day but we couldn't settle on how things were gonna work out. I think I'll work within the rules you've set up and draw one up...

There will be nudges but I am a fairly flexible GM, if your characters head off in a completely different directions and everyone is into the role play I can adapt my plans or throw them out the window, if need be. I am actually doing this with one of my current games, I expected the characters to go a long with something and they did not, which changed the story completely. I was fine with it and now they have a completely different adventure ahead of them.

There is, you get the 5k credits from gaining your 4th level, in addition to rolling. You have spent the rest of the credits by now if you took it as your first or third level talent.

If i'm using the revised core rulebook, are you okay with that? I have the entire section on creating a droid and I think I have one in mind I could write up tonight.

Wait, is this Saga Edition or the RCR? The key difference being that the RCR has no Talent Trees, but rather 3.e style level advancement, and the Saga Edition has Talent trees to develop your character.

Name: Kot
Species: Taung
Class: Soldier 4
Appearance: Tall and strong, Kot is a fine specimen of Taung warrior. He has the typical grayish skin and yellow eyes of his species and no hair at all. His taciturn face has sharp features and looks predatory. His hands end in sharp, almost claw like nails and it seems as if he is almost always frowning. His armor looks high tech and tribal at the same time and he is seldom seen not wearing it.

 

 

Personality: Kot is brave, stoic, focused and ruthlessly efficient. He does not take part in idle chit chat and frankly isn’t that pleasant to be around most of the time. Making up for his lack of social skills though is his fierce loyalty; Taung’s are taught to be loyal to the death towards their clan, and though his comrades in arms aren’t part of his clan, the mercenary band is what comes closest to a clan for him at the moment. It is not yet certain Kot would die for them, but he would never abandon them in battle and he would never betray them to the enemy.


Character History: Kot is amongst the the first generations of Taung to be born on the newly conquered world of Mandalore. Like all members of his species he was trained as a warrior from birth.

Learning to handle range and melee weapons from the time he was big enough to hold them, he was forged in the Taung discipline and code of honor, taught to be ruthless in battle and loyal to the death towards his clan. As soon as he was old enough, Kot joined his clanmates in their raids against the neighboring planets for the Taung were in a period of expansion ever since Mandalore the First had conquered the planet Mandalore about a century ago.

However, by the time Kot joined in the fight, most of the planets near Mandalore where already conquered, and the epic battles who’s stories he had listened to in his childhood were a thing of the past. Frustrated by only taking part in minor skirmishes, Kot decided to leave Mandalore to explore the galaxy on his own, looking for new challenges that would make him a better warrior and allow him to one day return home an even more valuable member of his clan and with great war stories.

This is how he eventually found himself in the employ of Jorana Bethan.

Character Specific Writing Sample: The ringing from the grenade explosion was still overwhelming for Jaboo, as he tried to find his bearings sitting on the floor of his bar. He couldn’t help but think that his establishment now looked like a war zone, with blaster burns all over the walls, tables and chairs overturned and dead bodies littering the floor.

Out of the smoke of the explosion came the armored assailant who was responsible for all this destruction. Two meters tall and wearing a massive, thorn covered, armor. The warrior’s face was covered by a helmet with a Y shaped visor that hid all facial features.

Bloodied and still on the floor from the concussive blast of the grenade, Jaboo tried to back away from the assailant, but barely made it a few feet before being grabbed by his lapel and having the cannon of a blaster rifle shoved in his face.

Where is Der’khar?

The voice sounded somewhat muffled by the helmet, and it had a strange accent, but this took nothing away from its menacing tone.

Jaboo tried to form phrases without stuttering.

I don’t… Idon’t know where Der’khar is!

The armored warrior tilted his head on the side as if he was considering the truthfulness of the answer for one second.

Then you are of no use to me alive!

The warrior stood up and shouldered his rifle, getting ready to blow Jaboo’s head off.

No! Wait! He is hiding in sub level B-4. He has a secret hideout there, door number 714.

The armored warrior stood there, his blaster aimed at Jaboo’s head.

Thank you for your cooperation.

With these words, he pulled the trigger, ending Jaboo’s miserable existence right there and then.

Name: 3-Deuce, goes by "Deuce"

Species: Droid

Class: Scoundrel

Appearance: Modified Repair/Protocol Droid. "Deuce" began as a model 'Cybot Galactica LE Series Repair Droid', Designation - LE-3DCE2. Over time she's been modified to look more friendly, sleek and feminine. Deuce likes to be referred to as 'she', instead of it.

Personality: Deuce is a bit sassy to those she knows, and abrupt and short with those she doesn't most times. She can also be a flirt in that she alluded to what people like to hear and want, although this is almost always due to a line of reasoning that will get her what she wants.

Character History: "Deuce" was purchased by a large corporate shipping company and made part of the working inventory of a the fleet's largest ship, the "Adar Traveler.' "Quickly referred to as 'Deuce', by the crew, Deuce quickly became relied upon and especially used heavily for the programs and protocols built into the 'niche' Droid. Run down by pirates and their attacks on their shipping lanes, the company sold off most of its fleet, but kept the LE series Droid on its flagship called 'Quasar Ghost', for quick high dollar fares and shipments. After a year, this ship was captured by said pirates, and modified for their own means. Deuce was kept on board, but the new ship's Captain, Quill Smoaff, had some top notch slicers 'toy' with Deuce's protocols for 'telling it straight.' As a jibe at the Captain, they changed Deuce's voice to female sounding, and even added some subroutines that would pick up on sarcasm, wit, and on some occasions dark humor.
The Captain actually liked it all, but couldn't take the female voice processors on the old frame he knew as his pal Deuce. So, he had Deuce modifed a bit to look more feminine.
One thing led to another, and Deuce found herself on her own, though still attached to the underground world of trading due to contacts she met along the way, and of course never forgot a single detail about.

 

Writing Sample The ship shuddered as the blaster fire pounded the aft shields of the ship Deuce was currently piloting. The aft shield is out sir, diverting power and angling remaining, but most power rerouted into-" The first mate cut her off with a few choice spacer curse words that were old and outdated. Faster than a millisecond Deuce had the notion to inform him so, and give him more correct and fitting swear words for their predicament, but all options and outcomes weighed, she dismissed the notion given his response. Also, the time it took for the banter would take away from the short time they had to escape, thus lessening their chances even more. So, she simply kept flying the medium-sized freighter turned smuggling craft and surmised the best plans of action to keep from getting destroyed. "Don't tell me what I know Deuce, give me ideas on how to shake them!" The first mate said as he stood behind the pilot's station. The Captain was badly wounded, maybe dying in the back after a failed negotiation and exchange of stolen goods and credits. The first mate had even been grazed by blaster fire on his thigh. "Sir, we could fake a crash there in the woods, drawing the speeder in closer, and then determine our next plan of action based on their actions. Probable actions based on locale, accounts of their previous actions are varied, but predictable given...", she continued as blaster fire slammed into the ship again. She almost spoke up again about how the ship couldn't take anymore, but her processor brought up several other better ways to respond based on her past experience with this crew. In short, she should act, and not speak. Blaster fire raked out at her ship, 'Tachi's Razor', but she was ready and banked the ship hard and did a barrel roll before pulling it hard into an almost 90 degree turn. She continued speaking all the time, without stopping, giving him possible actions for them to take. "... an ambush would be the preferred action on the ground. Or there's a freshwater lake a few kilometers to the south that would make a nice -" He cut her off again with a slew of curse words before saying, "Going to ground ain't exactly - Wait! A lake?! How.. never mind, just do it. I've been with you long enough to know whatever that plan is, it will be creative." As Deuce changed her course for the lake, still flying Nap of the earthNOE, down in valleys and over hills and across wide open areas in the mountainous area, the first mate kept on speaking. "I know I always ask for you to remind me how your programming got so creative, and then I say there's no time when you bring it up, but still... remind me Deuce later. But... after we are out of harm's way and all that." Yes sir. Although, the last time I reminded you was when we were in that Cantina and you were speaking to that female Anzati who -", she turned her head towards him in the manner that humanoids and most sentient beings did while speaking with another, and saw the expression on his face. Though called many things, it simply meant that she hadn't exactly understood what he meant and that she should stop speaking about it. She did. She hadn't shaken the speeder behind them, but did know she could outmaneuver it. She couldn't lose it inside the planet's atmosphere, but she didn't need to. "Approaching the lake now sir. You should strap in. The effect of -" He cut her off with more yelling, "Just do whatever you're going to do Deuce! One hit to that Jamming pod and all manner of law is gonna be coming for us!" Though she knew it was a bad idea for him to not be strapped in with what she had decided to do, her processor weighed in that there were two reasons for him not to remind him again: 1) He would just yell again and that would waste more time, 2) There wasn't any time. Blaster fire slammed into the upper rear quadrant of the ship and it shuddered. It was now or never, her processor reminded her, using a very human expression she had picked up along the way. She banked hard to starboard, causing the speeder behind her to slow its speed to bank as well as they sailed out over the lake, barely a meter above the surface. The moment the speeder started to bank behind her, she did a maneuver that was near suicidal to most pilots; she arced it hard over in a roll in the space of just two sizes of her ship and rolled as she went directly at the speeder, but at an angle that looked like she was climbing over it to get behind it. As her guns were out, she knew it wouldn't really matter because getting behind the speeder wasn't getting away from it, and any climbing would mean they would show up on sensors that were out there in the civilized communities and cites of this planet. But, that wasn't what she was planning on. It was the human's instinct in the speeder she was counting on. Any good pilot would react to any move by an opponent in combat that looked as if they were trying to get behind you. And he did. He banked up slightly and started to turn. Instead of flying past the speeder, Deuce, slammed the controls down on her ship, slamming into the cockpit of the speeder, glancing off it with a hard shake. The speeder pilot was killed instantly and it did a slow loop and then slammed back into the lake, sinking in seconds. But Deuce didn't see any of this. Her actions had rid them of their pursuer, but as the two flying craft impacted, the First Mate was thrown off this feet, slamming into the bulkhead and stunned. The impact had finished off what the speeder had started, and the ship lost all drive and flying controls - she was a dead stick, as the human's would say. They slammed into the lake, the First Mate getting thrown around again, but this actually forced him fully awake. Sinking, Deuce unbuckled herself and went to the First Mate. "Sir, with the damage to the ship, it is probable it will flood in less than a minute. I'll get you a breather for -" "No! See to the Captain and I'll get my own! GO!" She left him and halfway to the Captain's quarters where they had left him she met a wall of water coming it. It took her a few seconds to adjust to it, but then she managed and went to see to him. Opening his door, she let water in, but it didn't matter. She checked his pulse and breathing, he was already dead. She hurriedly made her way back to the First Mate, closing compartments as she went to try and keep the water out of as many of them as she could. Back at the bridge, she found the first mate, floating with his eyes open. Knowing little to nothing about first aid, she did what she could, but it was hopeless. She finally found an air pocket, and tried to get him to it, but it was too awkward for her. She found a breather and put it over his face, but after several minutes, she gave up. She tapped his forehead in a show of respect, then let him float off. It wasn't that she was unaffected by her situation, it was that it had taken her nano seconds to grieve - though most wouldn't call it that - and then she moved on to her predicament. After checking a few things, she went outside to assess the ship, which had now settled to the bottom of the lake. Using a portable light, she found it not too bad actually, and in a few days she would be able to get the systems online, pump out the water, and then get it to float. After that, she could thrust it to a bank and use thrusters to get it enough out of the water to extend the landing pads. This would take it out of the water enough so she could finish repairs and get to her next destination. That also, had been decided in nano seconds. She would go and join up with some other scoundrels she had worked with in the past. Life for her - or whatever it was for a Droid, would go on. First though, she'd have to get the ship somehow into her name, or a fictitious person of her creation.

Ok, here is the main points about droid creation, just so there is no other confusion. It has also been posted in the Q&A.

Q: How do I make a droid?
A: Please follow the rules for creation in the core book, Option 1 page 186. It gives all the steps necessary for creating a droid, your class money can be rolled to buy upgrades. If you follow Option 1 you shouldn't need to worry too much about it, it makes Droid your species and you get to take a heroic class.

You can make a droid of your own design. The only choices you have to make are choose your degree, size, accessories (it means arms and legs mostly), and assigning your ability scores. Once you have taken note of these details on your character sheet, continue with character creation normally....

Systems and Accessories
You have a heuristic processor and two arm appendages. You may spend 1,000 additional credits on locomotion, appendages and accessories as you see fit.

This means that you are basically taking droid as your species, wealth and everything else is going to be based on your class. You don't need to think about a credit amount for your droid build.
