1) Are variant humans allowed? 2) In the Sword Coast Adventure Guide there is a new Otherworldly Patron for Warlocks; The Undying. This includes beings such a Vecna, lich Queens and undying Wizards. Would this be allowed for this campaign? |

![]() As for the other question, I don't own the Sword Coast Adventure Guide. I'd like to keep the content confined to the core rulebooks until I can get my hands on some of the newer stuff. Thanks for the interest!

Adjusted Ability Scores for optimization.
By the way, 1200 gold seems a bit much (Blacknova gave us a military money grant?), but is there a way we can initially purchase some magic items? I can probably get most to my regular items for about 700-800 gold total...

Wow, I didn't realize 5e changed the starting gold amounts so much. I just checked the DMG. I'm changing the starting wealth to starting equipment plus 300gp. Sorry for the mixup. I'll update the original post to reflect the changes.

Yea, as much as I would like a guaranteed spot, it would be nice if you had options.

![]() Race: Human Class: Fighter Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (evil if absolutely required -- but would rather play a moral gray area) Appearance: Brutus is clad in grim armor, a black cape shrouding his muscular frame. His helmet was crafted from the skull of a minotaur that he managed to kill in his early days of adventuring. He wears a sword strapped across his back. Background: When orcs attacked his farm, slaughtering his wife and children, Brutus decided to undertake a quest for a cleric capable of restoring their lives. Driven by the purest of motives, the farmer quickly evolved into a warrior. Unfortunately, his heart began to grow darker, day by day, as his quest for a cleric capable of resurrecting the dead was met by constant failures and setbacks. He eventually allied himself with the evil forces of the would-be lich, assuming that such an alliance might give him access to the magic necessary to restore his family. Roleplaying: 1) Bring his family back from the dead. 2) Slaughter as many orcs as possible (when able to do so). 3) Return to life as a farmer once his family has been restored to life. I picked up the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide this morning. I'll allow most of the class variants and backgrounds to be used, just ask first. Updating the original post to reflect this.

Name: Chozzaster "Whisperdark" Alavara
Gender: Male Wood Elf Monk(Way of Shadow) Age: 112 Alignment:True Neutral Background: Dear Diary, This all seemed like a really good idea at the time, y'know? Which is just the perfect for any story to start out, right? With regrets and frustrations and...crushed dreams and...let's be honest, a whole lot of crushed people too. I never particularly fit in with the other elves. Shocking, I know. I mean, my face is kinda blocky, and I was quick, but I was never really graceful, not before I met up with the Clan, and I just kinda...never been great with talking to people. To be honest. In fact, uh, I"m bad at it. Very bad. Worse now, really. Master Velana knew that I didn't really fit in, and one day after that dick Tyr threw me into the mud and I ran into a river to wash off, he...appeared before me. I was mid-afternoon, but even then, he seemed cloaked in shadow. At first, I thought he was some sort of dark fairy, threatening me or offering me power. Which she was, really. The latter bit, not the threatening bit, though in training she did plenty of that. She appealed to my anger. Told me I had potential. At the time, I cleaned stables-no one had ever said that kind of thing to me. We met at night. For the next year, I bare-knuckle brawled other elves, most quicker and stronger than me, and tried in vain to sneak past eagle-eyed sentries. Lost a tooth or too. Eventually, I managed to break the neck of one of my combatants. I just got under him, and gave him three good punches, quick as I could. His voice box ruptured. That was when I became a real member of the Clan of Silent Nights. And then I got a real mission. You've probably heard of it. The bit where we tried to burn down a Temple-succeeded, we succeeded at burning down the entirety of that temple. It's ash, there's nothing left of it, and of course that was the bit where we got like half the elven army on our tail. We-they, though Master Velana was good enough to sneak us all out of the city. Turns out she was really only good enough to disappear into the shadows with her best men and leave the rest of us-funny that, right? And then we all got chased through the woods by armed soldiers, and everyone died except for me. I had split off from the group during the burning, so I was farther away, and also I kinda sorta killed a dozen soldiers on my way out. I got pretty angry and they were on horseback, which made it easy to just kick them off and have them break their neck or throw a shortsword into their horse's face, and I was screaming and laughing just a teensy bit, and they...they think because I'm the only one who got away, I was the mastermind behind the whole thing. That I'm some kind of master terrorist. Y'know, diary, I mostly just got into this for the glory. Beat up my bullies, impress the girls, maybe steal some cool clothes and peep in the woman's bathing area. Mostly innocent stuff, y'know? I'm not a bad person, I just...I just wanted to have a little fun. And now I'm wanted pretty much everywhere, and I don't think I can go back to taking care of horses, and this ghost...thing approached me the other day. It says it wants me to work for a lich. I-this is crazy, I know, but unless I can get in touch with the Clan again, and Master Velana-who lets be honest, probably wants to kill me over the mistaken identity thing, I think that might be the best option for us. I mean, it' s got to be better than whatever prison they'd throw me in, right? Right? Physical Description: A very short elf, about 5'2, with tan skin, a square jaw and messy red hair. Tends to have a very nervous look on his face, even in combat, and he twitches constantly. His hands and especially his knuckles are a mass of scar tissues. He wears a hooded grey-black robe and sandals. RP Goals: 1. Keep from getting in trouble with anyone else who's much stronger than he is. 2. Maybe at some point do something cool and impress people. Maybe even scare them a bit. That's basically the same thing, right? 3. It's somewhat esoteric, but despite his beginnings as a monk, he is an animal trainer, and he took care of the clan's attack dogs during his tenure there. Given the opportunity, he'd like to try and breed attack dogs or something similar, one's that are stronger and faster and smarter than the world has ever seen. |

Hello Blackassassin. I just joined this site and came upon your post. This setting seems very intriguing to me. I've been playing live D&D 5e for over a year now but have never played an evil character. I would love to give this a try if you are willing to take on a relative newbie to PbP like myself.
I saw that you are allowing most SCAG material so hopefully you will allow Way of the Long Death Monk. I think this monk tradition would be very fitting for this evil campaign. So without further ado here is my application for your consideration. Name: Ringpo Shiyag Race: male Variant human Class: Monk, Way of the Long Death (from SCAG) AGE: 44 Alignment: LE History: (Hermit background). Ringpo is a member of a fringe and fanatical branch of Long Death monks known as the Lambe Maut. As with other Long Death monks, they are obsessed with studying the process of dying, but are shunned by others of their tradition because of the brutality and viciousness by which they seek this knowledge. To the Lambe Maut, this knowledge is of paramount importance and will use any means necessary to obtain it. Instead of waiting for death to occur naturally, they will often times facilitate the process whether the subject is willing or not. This order of monks have been known to send out "researchers" to the many corners of the known world joining other travelers or adventurers to study the myriad of different species and the way they die. When the call came out from the black dozen to aid the liche in his quest, the order saw this as an opportunity to further their knowledge and sent Ringpo to join the liche. Physical description: Ringpo is a 5' 9" 160 lb human with tan brown skin and wiry braided black hair. As with others of his sect, he paints his face with white ash signifying the paleness at the moment of death. Goals: 1. Find a plethora of different sentient beings. 2. Kill these different sentient beings. 3. Study their death. Last edited by Thepurp; Jan 31st, 2016 at 09:17 AM. |
