She has radiant green eyes and thick, long and fantastically red hair. Although she spends most of her time in the wilds, her attire is as svelte and well kept as a fashionable urbanite. In spite of her skills and abilities, Katja is quite anxious about what others think of her. She is shy to the extent that she only ever glances briefly at the faces of others before looking away. Her voice is soft, and she is often hesitant to speak. Bio: Katja spent most of her life in Gronzi Forest in eastern Brevoy. Her mother Thora (who is also a druid) was the healer for their small village. Growing up, Katja was impressed by the members of a group of bandits. They were tall, strong and well dressed, and they laughed and joked with her mother when they came to her for healing. They often brought gifts for Katja, and food always seemed more plentiful in the village in the weeks after they visited. Years later as a young woman, Katja became romantically involved with one of the bandits. She even accompanied him on a raid against the party of a Medvyed tax collector. However, their relationship ended because he wanted children and she wasn't ready. He left her and quickly married another woman whom Katja suspects he had been seeing for some time. It was shortly after that when the soldiers came. They gathered the villagers and a short, balding, bearded man addressed them. He was wearing a tabard bearing the sigil of Medvyed. He said that he knew they had been aiding criminals who were harming the interests of House Medvyed and that he would see it stopped. He took up residence in the mayor's house and started questioning villagers. Katja and her mother decided to flee south toward the River Kingdoms. How do you know Merina Istara: Katja met Merina Istara at a small trading post on the frontier between Rostland and the River Kingdoms. Hearing that they planned to travel further south, Merina warned them about the cruelty of the bandits who dominated those lands. Katja was troubled: this group sounded quite different from her childhood heroes. With Merina's stories corroborated by the owners of the trading post, Merina convinced Katja to help her oust the bandits. Katja agreed to scout out the locations of the bandit camps before Merina moved against them. Since Merina's ascension to rulership, she has continued to employ Katja. Katja has acted as a guide for travelers to Fairhaven, be they foreign emissaries or settlers from Rostland. Her Lupine Companion: Alagos is Katja's best friend. He first came to her one day while she was scouting for Merina. He whined and growled, even tugging at her cloak, until she followed him off the trail. Moments later, she heard voices approaching. Hiding in the trees, she watched as a group of four men--roughly dressed and well armed--passed down the same trail. Alagos has been at her side from that day onward. He's affectionate and protective toward Katja, but gruff and standoffish with others.
