Hey all, we are reopening applications to the game. The game has been going for almost a year now, but we have lost a couple of players along the way. We’re looking to add ~2 new level 1 characters.

Current Game Our current characters are: Seben - A Celestial Warlock / Nature Cleric Tiefling-Goblin Horace - A Trickery Cleric Hill Dwarf Maisy - A Ranger Halfling If you'd like to see the game threads, they are located here. So far in the story, the character's village (Pendle) has been destroyed by a goblin horde, the Pendlers moved to Neverwinter for a year until their patron, Gundren Rockseeker, asked them to escort a wagon to the town of Phandalin where he had found something "big". They found Gundren's waylaid wagon along the way, however Gundren was missing, and his traveling companion, Sildar, was captured by a band of goblins. The group cleared the goblin hideout and continued on to Phandalin where they discovered the town being terrorized by a group of thugs known as the Redbrands. They've just finished a fight with one group of Redbrands and are picking a fight with another group.

New Characters Originally, this game was a funnel, but we will introduce characters at level 1 using a more standard application process. Your characters should have a reason to be in the Phandalin area of the Sword Coast (Forgotten Realms). Posting Rate: The posting rate is roughly twice a week (sometimes a little more, sometimes less). Allowed Sources: PHB, XGTE, TCoE, SCAG Ability Scores: Roll 4, drop the lowest: 6x4d6kh3. Assign stats in order rolled. Roll HERE, not in this thread. Equipment: None For your application please provide: application Name: Race: Class: Background: Appearance: Picture preferred + a short paragraph. Backstory: What is your character's story? How did they end up in the Phandalin area? RP Sample: Pick an event from your character's backstory and create a short role play sample. Let me know if you have any questions about the game! Bwahaha, so I make my return to this game again. It's too bad that we're doing standard d&d applications. I kinda like the randomness of making those funnel characters, especially the personality and job they have. In any case, I'll try thinking up a character for this game.

Yeah, you can definitely still use the original character creation instructions (minus the stat creation). You can also have your character be from Pendle if you want. Maybe you also managed to escape the goblin destruction? You don't have to that, but you're welcome to be an escaped villager!

just for my own clarification, is it still down the line? or can we assign the stats where we want them? I might still roll for race because sometimes it's just fun to leave it up to chance (even if I have a few ideas) I was wondering, however, since the party is level 2 and the game generally only goes to about level 4... would we be essentially 1 level behind for the majority of the game? or would we be bumped up quickly to be on par with the rest of the group?

Let's go with down the line. That's how the original funnel did it too. I'll update my previous post to indicate that.

The current characters have 400 XP so they are low level 2. I expect that the level 1 characters will level up pretty quickly, but they may always be a little behind. E.g. the current group might level up to level three ahead of the new group. As the group gets to higher levels it should make less difference. The current module goes to level 4, but I'm happy to keep going with a new adventure if people are having a good time.

Didnt see the bit about the ability rolls until now. Im glad cuz the random rolls I got gave me really low WIS characters. One got a 4 to wis! XD

You mentioned that the new PCs are coming in with NO equipment. Will we come in with any gold? Or just the clothes on our backs? What about spell components, should we go with a magic wielder? If the answer is still 'no', may I argue that the original players got to start with at least the equipment from their previous occupations. Perhaps we could roll to see what random stuff we may have on us.

Yeah, due to the circumstances with how you will enter the game, you'll have NO equipment and no gold - just the clothes on your back. Initially, you won't have holy symbols, component pouches, etc. However, I'll make sure that once your character is integrated into the game that you aren't completely helpless. There will be an opportunity to recover some of the stuff you would normally have as a level 1 character.
