[D&D-5e] Strixhaven: Academy for the Gifted

Wow.... love'n the love for this game. Thank you for all the interest so far.
I've updated the Office of Admission (Tracking) post. Don't worry if I've marked you COMPLETE already - you are welcome to tweak your application/character concepts all you want until the final selections start on the 15th or so.

ME AND MY SHADOW * Name - Bly Dreyer (goes by Dreyer) * Race - Centaur * Class - Fighter -- Echo Knight * Alignment - N (Echo is of course, Neutral Good)   Quandrix College Applicant: My mother has been pushing me toward Quandrix here at the U since I can remember. Probably before that too. Nervous and frustrated tutors in math, probability theory, the nature of illusion and reality have all tried to push the base Quandrix requirements into my head. I was never very good at any of it, but that didn't really matter. When it comes to the nature of illusion and reality, the reality is that my mother is a force of nature (literally as well as figuratively) and neither the tutors or I had any chance to persuade her that I might be better off taking a different route. I think it had something to do with Mistress Kianne, who is the closest thing my mother had to a human friend; sycophants and priests don't count. Even my wardrobe. Virtually every tunic I have is in shades of Quandrix green and blue. She'd have died my hair the school colors if she'd thought of it; thank the assembled Goddesses of Nature and Beauty she never did. Even my shield is blue and green; 3 green trees for the sacred grove on a blue backdrop. And so, here I am. I may never be a mage, but I'll be a warrior with as much magical knowledge and theory as the world can force down my throat. I'd never admit it to her, but I'm actually quite looking forward to it. Traits: *I will never get out of my famous parent's shadow, and no one else will ever understand this burden *No one can fake a smile, a handshake, or an interested nod like I can. Ideal: Hard work, sacrifice, and training lead to success and eventually to perfection. Not that you could prove it by me. Bonds: *Despite her nature, my mother is kind and generous. Her green eyes shine bright as her smile widens to charm a room. With immaculate robes highlighting her elegant features, Ella embodies everything her family is known for - confidence, competence, and pride. History:   Ella is the oldest daughter of Lord Erwen and Lady Ellaria Tybalt, proud alumni of Strixhaven (Silverquill College). In fact, every Tybalt for the last 400 years has been a proud graduate of Strixhaven, most in Silverquill College. The Tybalt family is known throughout the planes, dating back to Lucius Tybalt, the first of the line to enter Strixhaven and known as "The Silver Tongue" for his ability to spin magic through his words and influence others. The Tybalt family has excelled at the magic of words, building a reputation as king-makers, and earning themselves several noble titles and recognition among may kingdoms across the planes. Hiring a Tybalt can almost guarantee a victory. How they've managed this over the centuries has become the subject of much gossip and speculation, but one thing is for sure - there is a strong power that runs through this family. And Ella Tybalt is no exception. She has grown up knowing what is expected of her - she will attend Strixhaven, enter the Silverquill College, graduate, and travel the planes searching for the right opportunity to take her spot as the newest kingmaker. This is what her life will be...whether she wants it or not...   As Elladora and Jessinda sat under the pine tree, Ella could feel her best friend's eyes boring into her. "Would you stop staring?" she muttered, half-heartedly. "Only when you stop moping"Jessinda shot back. "Look, what do you have to worry about? You're Tybalt! Of course you're going to get into Strixhaven. You'll go, graduate the top of your class in Silverquill College and dominate the world, just like always." she proclaimed with just a mild hint of jealousy as she quietly added, "and leave the likes of me far behind.". Ella was a Tybalt, after all, the daugther of kingmakers - stunning 5'11" raven-haired half-elf beauty with piercing green eyes and the world at her feet. And Jess was a simple human merchant's daughter. "Don't be like that, Jess..."Ella implored. Besides...you of all people should know it isn't that simple..." And all jealousy fled from Jess' mind as she realized what had Ella so distraught. How could she not have realized it earlier? "El..."she started, hesitantly. "What really worries you? That you somehow won't get in, thereby bringing dishonor and humiliation to your family as the first to be denied at Strixhaven? Or...Jess paused briefly before softly adding "Or are you more worried that you will?" And with her greatest fear finally said aloud, Ella nodded before collapsing in her friend's arms as sobs wracked her body. As Jessinda rubbed circles on her friend's back in what she hoped was a soothing gesture, her mind was suddenly inundated with a torrent of all of Ella's fears. That regardless of the outcome, she couldn't live up to expectations. That she wasn't sure Silverquill...or even Strixhaven were right for her. That not getting in would be a relief and yet the greatest disappointment to her family. As each thought invaded Jess' mind one after another, she was overwhelmed. Ella! El....El...ELLADORA" Jess shouted before the voices in her head slowed, then quieted. "Oh!"El exclaimed out loud. [B]"I'm sorry! I didn't mean... I'm so SO so-["/B] she stopped abruptly as Jess raised her hand then placed her head in her hands. "Look hon, it's not my first rodeo with your mind tricks. I'm fine!" Jess quipped as she lifted Ella's head to meet her gaze. "Seriously...it was just a bit overwhelming, but I understand. And I'm sorry. I didn't think earlier when I spoke. Of course you have every right to be worried. But no matter what comes, I'm here...and I'm not going anywhere!" With that, the pair embraced once more, settling into a welcome silence as the afternoon wore on into evening bringing with it the much anticipated answer to at least one of Ella's questions.

Hey Savy, question for you.

In your initial post you indicate that we are using race from all official releases, but you also mention that variants are not allowed.

Are you allowing the human (variant) race, which would grant a feat, or just standard human?

That's correct Humans variant is out. I do use the optional feat rules later. For example, once you are at University, you'll pick up a feat there as a GM reward. During normal advancement, the feat option is open as well.

There is a very short list of feats I don't use but I'll bring that up when it comes time. (Lucky for example). I hope that helps!
