Just passing through for a moment (haven't had time to give out any feedback or even update the application roster yet!), but I wanted to reply to these posts really quickly:

Hello! Are you open to experienced 5e players who are new to RPG Crossing? I've done PBP on other sites for a long time. I just registered on RPGx so I still have noob status.

Sure thing! At this stage, there's some stiff competition with all of the other great applications, but I'm not factoring in site-status into who gets chosen. I'm looking for experienced players who are narratively focused, those who are able to weave a great story together with me and the other players. If you've got a character that fits with the setting, feel free to post it!

One week left for character applications!

One more time: there is one week left to enter or finalize your character applications!

Folks, the competition is steep. I'm already dreading having to pick only six players out of all of the applications I've gotten so far. Every single character is interesting and deserves their own story. I'm excited to see which ones will be championing this story, but I'm not thrilled in having to say no to anyone who has applied. Maybe one day I'll actually work on creating a giant open world where everyone can play around in--maybe. But, that's not today, unfortunately.

Point is, make sure your applications are finished if you're wanting to play in Thylea! I've updated the roster with everything prior to this post. I haven't read over any previous applications, so if you've made any changes, please let me know so I can fully update your application status. Since there are so many great applications already fully complete, if your application isn't fully complete by the end of 01/31, then I'll have to remove them from the selection process. Similarly, I suggest everyone who is earnestly willing to put in the effort to stay in the game for the long haul to show that dedication by taking the Oath of Sangus and adding that Oath to your profile's signature. Every game inevitably has drop-outs (life happens), but I'm wanting a dedicated roster of characters.

Until then, I appreciate everyone who's shown interest thus far, and I can't wait to see where this epic path takes us.

Today's the day!! Applications will be closed at 8 PM central standard time. From there, I'll be reviewing all the completed applications and then sending out private messages to the selected players. Once that's done, I'll give one final update here before closing up shop.

I'm excited to get this epic tale off the ground (but not fly too close to the sun)!

Character Application Character Name: Aeneas Ariti Race: Fallen Aasimar Background: Knight of the Dragonlords Class (and intended subclass / build desires): Paladin (Changes with chosen Epic Path) Epic Path: The Vanished One (Oath of the Crown/Dragonlords), The Dragonslayer (Oath of Vengeance), The Doomed One (Oath of Glory) Character Description (including any art or Hero Forge builds): Basic features are that he is 6'2", 188 lbs., big and muscular build. His hair is coloured crimson red, the top of his head, reaching all the way down to his nose is also tattooed in the same crimson colour as his hair, his lips and three claw like lines that go down from his bottom lip to under his chin is the same red colour. The rest of his face is ghostly white, and his eyes are a deep, warm redwood. He wears common, loose clothing, his shirt a short sleeve v-neck shaped brown shirt, with black pants, his waist wrapped by cloth wrapped around numerous times, tied with the tail flowing on his right side. His ankles are tied in banding, with dark brown leather boots overtop of them and go up to his calves. His armour is blackened to match the colour of charcoal, and he has the insignia of the Dragonlords on his chest. He has a number of stud piercings on his left ear and one hoop on his earlobe. When he enters his Necrotic Shroud form, the crimson red turns black and the white turns ash gray, his eyes turn black and a dark aura radiates from his entire body and his hair flows like if he was underwater. Brief Character History (Based on The Vanished One): Aeneas grew up an outsider from a land far away that might not even exist anymore. It was clear that he was gifted with something special when he was born, and that gift placed him on the path that made him become a Dragonlord. He then rode with his comrades to what is now called Thylea and fought the Titans, defeated their armies and became legends. But in that war, he lost the only woman he ever loved, his wife, Eleni was killed in combat and his best friend and Black Dragon, Oorg was also slain. When the Five Gods arrived and the truce was made, Aeneas thought that he would be done with it all. He went on a number of explorations, traveling with those willing to continue to explore the new land and see what they had won. During an expedition into the Cerulean Gulf, he fell victim to the irresistible charms of a nymph named Versi where he suddenly was with everyone again, including Eleni and Oorg. Time passed slowly for him, unaware that 500 years would pass by, he would have a child with his wife, he would watch him grow, he was happy. But the dream was shattered when Versi once again revealed herself, after all that time, to tell him that the treaty was coming to an end, 500 years had passed, and that he was to once again take up arms against the Titans that were coming to destroy what he helped build. At first he was reluctant, why would he leave paradise? It was then that she promised him, if he were to do this, he would be able to come back and live the rest of his life in this dream, for the rest of his existence. He agreed and left, given a boat to travel back to where it first ended, Thylea. His skills and powers are not what they were because of his slumber, forgotten over such a long period of time, and he knows that he needs to regain them in order to defeat the Titans once again. Creative Writing Sample (Based on The Vanished One): It was midday at a local tavern and for the first time in a long time, Aeneas had a few drinks of alcohol, he was in a dream for 500 years, everything he drank was imaginary, it wasn't long before he was completely hammered. Those around him looked as he stumbled along the tavern before finally getting to the bar, which he leaned of for support. Eh! You one of those actors that played earlier today about the war? Or those doom and gloom preachers talking about the end of the world? Someone asked him, he looked to the man, hiccuped and grabbed his shoulder. "Actor! I am Aeneas! I've come back! The treaty is ending don't you know? The Titans and their forces will soon come for their vengeance, and will succeed, if I don't get my old powers back." He replied. There's no way! That was 500 years ago you maniac! "I know! I was in a dream, trapped by a nymph of great power for all this time! But I'm back! Released to due my duty to you all and when I'm done I can return to my dream state to live the rest of my life in paradise." He tried to explain. Yeah right. The man responded as he pushed him away. Someone else who heard him came towards the drunk, intrigued to mess with Aeneas, he began to talk to him. I heard that you, if you are who you say you are, he laughed, then I heard you had a strange relationship with your dragon, UUg. "It's Oorg you damned fool, and we didn't have a strange relationship. He was my best friend, something you would never understand. The bond between a person and a dragon, it's like nothing else on this planet." He replied turning to face the man, leaning his back on the bar for stability. Yeah, yeah sure, "best friend." The man joked, the people laughed. He turned around and tried to ignore the voices at this moment, before he lost his temper, until a female voice hit his ears. I heard that Aeneas lost more than just his wife and dragon, he lost his child as well. She stated. Aeneas sobered right up, and looked at the woman, a tear fell down his right eye as all that pain came rushing in. "Your right, I lost my entire future." He said vaugely. What does he mean future? He's not making any sense. Just say if you did or didn't! Someone else said, others joined in. Aeneas no longer felt like drinking, or being in this place anymore. "Sometimes I wonder why I even should bother." He mumbled as he then stumbled from the bar and out the door, the others jeering him and laughing at his expense, especially about his dragon. But when he got out, the light hit him and he covered his eyes. First he could hear them, then could see them, children playing, laughing, some even dressed to look like him and fought against others that looked like Titans, and he remembered in that moment why he fought and why he will fight again. For the future...

All completed characters will now be reviewed. I should have my selection by 12 PM central tomorrow. I have a lot of factors to weigh before finalizing my decision.

The Oracle has summoned her heroes! All private message invitations have been sent out this time. Those of you who have received them, congratulations! You may now make your journey to the adventure's hub.

For everyone else, you have my apologies. I wish I could have invited every last one of you to Thylea this day: all of your characters are interesting and well-developed. I want you all to know that you did not make this process easy--not one bit. I am extremely proud of everyone who applied: there's some amazing talent on in these forums, and I want each and every one of you to know that you are good at what you do. I made my decision based on a lot of variables, including party composition, Epic Path considerations, balance between settler and native races, personality conflicts, and so many other things. I bring this up to highlight that your characters are great, but I was looking for a very particular group to fit the nature of the adventure that (hopefully) will mesh well (or dramatically) with the party.

You are all great writers and I hope to play with each of you some day. Thank you again.
