I have pre-seasoned myself in preparation of my possible entombment. If I am going to be baked for four hundred years, I will be delicious, dang it!

ANYWHO! My app is finished! I admit I took some liberties with the RP Sample prompts, so I totally understand if I am just thrusted into the oven straight away for that. Still had a lot of fun, though!

GOOD LUCK, EVERYBODY!! You all came up with some wickedly cool character concepts, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading each app here! It is an honor to be turned into delicious baked goods with you all.

There ended up being too much going on for me this month to put in the thought and creativity this game deserves, and it looks like many others have already done just that, so I won't be applying. I read some of seasons 1 and 2; very cool game, Wyn!

The Whisker KingName: Jing Xu Wang, the Whisker King

Race: Soggy transformed Elder Catfish (Triton)

Gender Identity: Cis Male

Class: Fathomless Warlock

Appearance: Perpetually a bit damp, Wang dresses in exceptionally regal and extremely outdated clothing, which unfortunately smells a bit mildewy. He is "older than you, you walking sack of bones", with a too long, bleach white beard. His mustache is, at a close quarters, obviously several foot long catfish whiskers that twitch a bit when he gets frustrated. Despite his age, his grey green skin is oddly smooth, and there is not a hair present on the rest of his head.

Seeker?: Probably not great for his general goals; he's not exactly a "wise person".

It was a boring evening, as were most, for the guards stationed outside the gates of Tingzhi Xiuxi. While they often caught glimpses of the odd parties that frequented the Long Road, few ever came knocking this far off the path, this close to Huanghe. That made it a little surprising when a figure purposefully strode into their lantern light, shuffling around in loose fitting silks. The man, a strangely colored elder of some sort, held himself with clear discomfort as he struggled to settle his sash.

"You, the one with the arms, and the...the legs? Bring your Lord to me. I require information about this stream."

The two farmers leaned on their spears as they peered first at the man, then each other, then the winding and bountiful river behind them. They returned to stare at the fellow as he wrung what appeared to be a bucket's worth of water from his robes. "Um, sir, we don't have a Lord here. We're just a small village. But if you want a room for the night, or some food, we do have a lovely inn run by my cousin, he cooks an absolutely DELICIOUS catfish stew -"

The expression on the traveler's face stopped the poor man mid sentence. A sense of disgust, then confusion, then outrage passed quickly across his features, until he finally spluttered and whipped his hand through his beard, spraying yet more water across the ground. "A STEW. Presumably tainted with those rooty things you limbed breathers love to ingest so much. And that ruminant excretion, the white water? Disgusting." His mustache, stretching past his now-situated sash, clearly twitched with every word. "Perhaps I should have a talk with this cousin. Disrespecting the noble heart of his meal. The very foundation of an orderly river, condemned to share a bowl with... with LEEKS?! Bah."

Calming himself, the newcomer pointed to the unfortunately related farmer. "Well, yes. That is very unfortunate. However, I do not seek any of your cousin's... *stew*. You shall now serve as my assistant. You shall first send a messenger to whomever is the closest Lord, and alert him to my presence. You shall second locate a master of records to tell me things about this stream. You shall third, and perhaps most importantly, pour me a bath."

Still having yet to provide a name or allegiance, the bearing of the apparently noble man seemed to preclude any sense or argument. The two farmers gaped for a moment, then nodded. "I suppose.... yes, m'lord?"

The Demon Scribe of the Bloodied Page Monastery laughed with venom in its eyes, flicking its magic brush to tighten the bonds of ink holding the companions in place. Yuchun Zhiji, the Monk of a Thousand Poses, glanced ruefully at their captor. Beside him, Da Nu'er, She Who Hides the World in Her Belly, wriggled her girth, unable to find a way to latch onto and devour the lanky scholar of mystical characters. "What now, Whisker King? What will you do with your muscle restrained in my inky powers? What *can* you do, as my minions drain the Yellow River into my Bottomless Well? Hm? Do you save your friends, or do you save your beloved waters??" The creature locked Jing Xu Wang with a playful smile, ready to scribe the Four Deaths of the Homophone and end Zhiji and Da Nu'er's lives. It waited, patient, the sound below the Monastery of raging waters and shrieking river spirits conveying urgency for the demon.

Glancing casually out the window, the sodden fish god screwed up his face, assessing the situation. On the one whisker, these two servants had proved quite helpful in getting through that last mountain pass. On the other, he needed to traverse the Yellow River and all of its Gates to reach his true destination. No, losing either would not do.

"What now, you ask, you murky excuse for a proper water Demon? Which will I pick?" With each word, the feel of damp in the air began to condense and make itself known. Halfway through his first sentence, every surface in the room was slick with a sheen of water. Wang stood still, but grew and grew, remaining the same and changing immeasurably. The spirit of the Catfish God swelled and bloated, encompassing his servants, the Demon, the Monastery, until even those down on the banks of the Yellow River could feel the essence of what a real River Deity was. His voice boomed and gurgled in every space, coming from nowhere and everywhere. "What now, little brush fiend? I think now, you will release my assistants, and your lackeys will release my River. You have had your fun, pretending to have the high ground on your betters. You have laughed your laughs and spilled your ink, thinking that today would be the day you bested me. But you have forgotten yourself, and your place. Do you know the most important thing you have forgotten?"

The Demon Scribe cowered now, back clacking against the wall as its brush cracked and splintered in the overwhelming miasma of Jing Xu Wang's full presence. The inky coils threatening Zhiji and Da Nu'er bled and faded, and the cultist monks below fled screaming as the Well toppled and spilled the stolen River back into place. For its part, the dread scholar could only shake its head.

"YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN, YOU STAINED PRETENDER, THAT I AM THE WHISKER KING."
