Steve
right-aligned image

Name: Killbot 3p-14 (aka Steve)

Ancestry/Heritage: Automaton / Warrior Automaton

Class: Barbarian (giant instinct)

Archtype: Druid

Background: Plant Whisperer

Description:
Even from a distance it is obvious that Steve is not an organic being. His body is composed of moulded ceramic plates, resistant to damage and as alien as his visage. His single oversized eye glows a uniform pale white but does not cast much light. His body is shades of grey fading to black in its recesses. He is tall and lanky coming in at around 6 feet in height. When he first arrived at Brinkton he came with a large hammer, too unwieldy for many people his size to easily lift but there is unexpected strength in his arms and he can heft it without much difficulty.

Link to Brinkton: Brinkton is his home, he has lived here for all he remembers of this life (see key event). The things and people he values are all here.

Important Person 1: Timmy. A grown adult now. As a child Timmy found Steve immediately after his arrival at Brinkton. He put out the fires his explosive arrival set on the ground and was there when Steve regained consciousness. He gave Steve his name declaring that his designation (Killbot 3p-14) was not an appropriate name for a person.

Important Person 2:
Claudius. Claudius is Timmy’s father, an eccentric tinkerer with a big heart. He helped patch Steve up and gave him a place to stay when he arrived. Though Steve has long since moved out he thinks of Claudius and Timmy as family.

Key Event: Steve first awoke to consciousness in his robotic body at a briefing. He and several other Automatons were lined up watching a tall human in a military uniform telling them about a time portal. They had been created to go through and prevent the erection of a magical forcefield around a verdant island. This was the last remaining holdout of the enemy, in a war that lasted hundred of years, finally victory against the druidic order of the swaying tree was at hand. It had been snatched away at the last minute by the creation of the field and no technology existed that could penetrate it. It was his mission to go back in time and prevent the fields activation, by any means necessary.

Before the briefing could finish another man burst into the room. He was clearly the superior officer of the soldier giving the briefing. They had a loud and heated argument back and forth. Something about ensuring nothing remained of the original being used to make the mechanical men they were about to set loose on the past. The newcomer was evidently not interested in discussion. He barked a command to "bring in the other prisoners" and several badly mistreated humans were brought into the room. Killbot 3p-14 did not recognize them but they felt important to him, he did not know why. The officer looked at the automatons and commanded "kill them." He compatriots stepped forward without hesitation and dispatched their prisoners immediately. Killbot 3p-14 was confused. He looked at the prisoner to be executed then up at the officer and said" no." There was silence in the room. It seemed to last an eternity. The officer scowled at the soldier that had been arguing with him and then turned to the other killbots, their hammers wet with gore. He pointed at Killbot 3p-14 "This unit is defective, destroy it." Without hesitation they turned to attack.

He had to get out. In a panic Killbot 3p-14 turned and ran for the door in the opposite wall and emerged into the room with the time portal. A large arch with a shimmering green field stretching from side to side. He had to stop this! Workers stared at him, the pursuing automatia were hot on his heels. He drew his oversized hammer and smashed a control console. Energy immidately started arching from the control surfaces all over the room. A man shouted " its overloading!" Killbot 3p-14 jumped into the portal, his only thoughts were that he had to warn the Order of the Swaying Tree.

Killbot 3p-14 woke up, he was staring at the sky and what passed for Brinktons sun. His smell sensors registered a fire nearby and a small child asked him "are you ok?"

General Background: Steve spends much of his time at his gardens at the edge of town. Though he does not eat, he enjoys growing food to share and makes a living selling produce at the towns market. He feels a great affinity for the natural world and can often be found wandering his garden or orchard humming to himself or silently observing the life around him. Claudius suspects this behaviour is evidence that his original personality is beginning to reassert itself.
