As a side note of this kind of thing, I spent a few days thinking about it, hence this late response to the issue. The thing that might be the sticking point, for me at least, is the way the character was presented. Honestly the way it's worded makes a world of difference in these matters. "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned" vs. "Sorry Daddy, I've been naughty" is a great example, so is "Horse play" vs. "Pony play".

I think I wouldn't have had such a visceral reaction to it if it had been presented even a little bit differently. Like putting forward that the character struggles with X would have been a good indicator that he wouldn't be like that always. I won't assume they'd change unless the possibility is recognized because to be honest, I've not seen that in practice.

Anyways, conclusion-wise: Some people I do know are vouching for you so I'll be willing to retract my concerns. Thank you for hearing me out.

Thanks for taking the time to explain *why* you feel concerned. It helps a lot it really does.

I want to.assure you that I am.not a player who wants to disrupt adventures or parties but really enjoy playing PCs with internal struggles as well as external. I perhaps should have added more explanations on the character but didnt want to give away too.much, as the enjoyable part, for me at least, is discovering personalities and traits in game.

Saying that, Hammer has a conscience which is the form of Sheeba (his sword/sister) who is always nagging him and steering him on the right path as best she can. So although he initially might not like something/someone doesnt mean he will be nasty, cruel, stubborn etc.

Also, although a new player to RPGx I have nearly 20 years xp playing PbP games.

I hope this alleviates your concerns somewhat.

This touches a place in me that's kind of hard to describe. So many games fall through and never reach conclusion on these forums; it's why for the past couple of years I've retracted back to a close knit team of gamers but it's also cut me off from new players, new perspectives; and I miss that.

So if I get shamed for stepping back into a more public game, so be it.

Nope, but it makes sense that it should be malleable.
TBH I think Alignment should be too, but on a much slower scale. Like you might change your ideals because you fall in love, but to switch from lawful to chaotic would probably take years of having the law betray you until you feel the only hope you have is to act chaotically.

Hi all!

I just sent out PMs to the chosen players. This was not an easy decision, and I genuinely considered running two groups so no one would be left out because ALL of your applications were great. Ultimately, I did decide to go with one group since I am a new DM (to this medium) and I want to make sure I do well.

That said, I will keep everyone who didn't make the first round in mind if people drop out, or if I end up running another game.
