Plot Summary No Longer Accepting Applications! Die Fabulous is an incredibly gay one-shot planned for four-to-five players – one player has already been selected so we need three-to-four more who are hungry for romance, drama, and fashion! Allowed Playbooks include the base Thirsty Sword Lesbians playbook and the Advanced Thirsty Sword Lesbians playbook. Posting Frequency: 1 post every 2 weeks. It is a slow burn, baby! Fit to suit my busy schedule and the busy schedule of others. Application Deadline: September 4th, 11:59 PM Central Time Welcome to the city of lights, of high fashion, of suhweet temptation– Prism City! A sprawling cosmopolis set at The Edge of the World, where neon is the only right color to paint the streets with and the right looks pave the way to fame and fortune! You, however, are a Nobody. Someone who either lives at the bottom of The Drain where the rest of the Unfashionable lurk; an outcast from high society who couldn’t keep up with the changing Trends; a Tourist drawn to the stars that shine bright on the holoscreens. You don’t belong here. But that’s alright. Cuz you don’t fragging care. Die Fabulous is about defying those cookie cutter standards that society thrusts upon your character. Challenge the chains that try to bind you to normalcy. Spit in the face of conformity and dance to the beat of your own drum. You are here to break rules, and stand on your own two feet. To be you. The real you. Not what everyone else wants you to be. And the biggest way of showing your stuff in Prism City is by attending The Party of the Century. The Iridescent Palace is flying to Prism City to hold the biggest, baddest, most extra masquerade party that’s ever existed in our Big Gay World. And you, are going to crash that party. The goal is simple. Acquire tickets from a reliable source. Commission outfits that’ll woo your lady love or make your rival boil with envy. Find the perfect gift for your esteemed Host. And show those stuck-up, snooty Wannabees at the party what it really means to be cool. Alright, maaaaybe it’s not as simple as it sounds. But hey, look on the bright side! You just might You as a Player: You are huge on collaborative writing; you want to write with your fellow players and build incredible stories together. You are not here cuz you want to play as a lone wolf. You are here cuz you love that sweet high that team-work gives you. It is not just your story. It is OUR story, and you’ll show that in both OOC and IC posts. And ideally, you are communicative. Talk to us, or just me, if you ever have a problem. I am here to listen, and help! Game-wise, you are here cuz you wanna play a thirsty sword lesbian. You love romance. The cheesy kind where you are swept up in a fight with your rival and you two lean in a little too close together that just maybe you might kiss. You are here cuz you love fashion of all flavors. Gothic. Punk. Bubblepop. You like it loud and you like it proud and you want to flaunt your stuff. And of course, drama. As there will be all kinds of interpersonal drama with the PCs, NPCs, and maybe within your character’s heart. We are here to explore all that junk, so buckle up if that’s your kind of flavor! Me as a GM: I am a bisexual woman in a loving relationship with a beautiful lady, and I have a sword, by marriage. So, it seemed kinda fitting that I outta run Thirsty Sword Lesbians one day. As a GM, I am a huge fan of the roleplay aspect. I am over the moon in love with players who engage heavily with each other in-game, and interact with the world around them. I want you to build relationships, create bonds and conflict, and explore your character throughout the campaign. I want you to have fun. To flaunt your stuff and try new things and just be astoundingly cool. Like. Hell yeah. Jump across that skyscraper on a motorcycle! Seduce the BBEG! Convince your rival to give up villainy! I am HERE for it! DO THE THING! I am, admittedly, a huge prose-writer. You don’t have to look far on site to find out that I write a LOT. It is typically four or five paragraphs on average per post. Sometimes more. You’ll find that I very much enjoy setting up scenes for your characters. Putting on the proverbial mood lighting, if you will. My descriptions are solely meant for you to use in your own writing, but I am also not against the idea of you adding more to a scene, or asking for me to change something cuz it’ll be fun or fit the moment. But please understand, if you are going to apply, you will be reading quite a bit. Game-wise, I love cheesy romance. I unironically love rom-com tropes, and old fanfiction scenarios where ‘they have no choice but to share the same bed tonight since the inn is out of rooms’ and ‘confesses love when they think the other person is asleep or dead.’ It is a guilty pleasure that I actually feel no guilt over, and hopefully, you won’t either! But I do understand certain tropes are triggering for some, and I am more than happy to avoid any that may cause discomfort. Just be open and communicative with me. Lastly, I have been on RPGX for about two straight years, and IRL, I have game’d for close to fifteen years, omgIamold. It is a beloved hobby that scratches that deep-seated need to write and play with others. That Playbook has already been chosen by the player I have already accepted into the game. Character Application Template Character Application Template Name: That’s right. The hardest part of an application: picking out the perfect name. Physical Appearance: Describe your character to us. What do they look like? What do they wear? How do they present themselves to others? If you have a picture in mind for your character, feel free to use it! Get loud! Get out of that closet! Your Sword: What does your sword look-like? Keep in mind, your sword is just as much a part of your character as everything else! It embodies who you are! Who you really are! Your Motivation: Explain why you want to crash the party, and what you hope to accomplish once you are in. This is your main hook for the story, which I will more than likely use for plot purposes. If you plan to have your focus on a lover or rival, please include a brief summary of what that NPC will be like. What tropes do you like as a player? Tell me your guilty pleasures. What cheese puts a smile on your face. What do you want to see and experience in-game for your character. Consider this like a wish-list. I may not use everything here, but it does give me an idea of what will have your legs kicking with giddy delight over the campaign. Discord? Yes or no. I like Discord for OOC. It’s fast and offers quick-and-easy communication between players. And builds a great deal of camaraderie. If that’s not your flavor, that’s okay! I won’t push anyone to use anything they don’t want. Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions I am new to RPGX. Is it okay if I apply? Heck yeah! Go for it! I am new to the Powered by the Apocalypse system. Is it okay if I apply? What a coincidence! I am, too!! Seriously, don’t sweat being new to the mechanics– we’ll learn everything together! If it helps, Powered by the Apocalypse is a relatively easy system to pick up, and even if we do make mistakes, it is not a big deal, cuz the great thing about PbP is that edit buttons exist! Who is the other player that you mentioned? QueenQatherine. QueenQatherine is not a site regular but my lady love who is responsible for getting me hooked on ttrpgs, and also women. She is an excellent writer who has been writing for over eighteen years, and gaming for longer than that. Her characters are well-rounded and easy to fall in love with– but you’ll see that soon enough! She’s also super funny and smart and I honestly could rant about her forever so I am going to stop here before I embarass her too much. You may see her pop up and chat in the ad. Feel free to ask her questions about her characters. I am going to share her app in the ad once she's completed it, that way everybody gets a feel of the entire group! Somebody applied with the same Playbook as me! What does that mean? Unfortunately, the system does not allow doubles of the same Playbook. You are more than welcome to apply a secondary Playbook for your character that’ll fit your concept, but that’s the best I am able to do. On the plus side, there's quite a bit of Playbooks to choose from! What kind of flavour is the setting? Futuristic? Fantastical? Steampunk? Die Fabulous is kinda a mish-mash of genres. It is grounded in a fantasy setting like Eberron from the 3.5 edition of Dungeons and Dragons, while dabbling in the weird high fashion of the movie The Fifth Element. There are no guns, but there are automatons made of winding gears and magic. There are holoscreens, but there are no automobiles or airplanes. Technology is advanced but only in very specific areas. So, if you have a question about what will fit within Prism City, just ask me, cuz chances are you’ll have an idea that I will want in the campaign. Do fantasy races exist in the game? ex. orcs, goblins, catfolk, tiefling, etc. Heck yeah! Now they may not follow the stereotypes that we have been introduced to from other settings, but that's half the fun of Powered by the Apocalypse! We make the decisions on what's fact or fiction for everything! You can also come up with your own race if you want! How sword-adjacent does my weapon need to be? I'll be honest, so long as its not a firearm, and its built for melee, I am pretty open to anything and everything!

Dang it Strange! I was just saying to myself that I am in enough games and need to stop applying for new ones, and then you go and post an advert for a TSL game. I have actually had the TSL site open in a background tab on my computer for months thinking to myself "Will anyone ever run one of these games? Would it be weird to ask someone to play this game?" I had just about given up and then this comes along.

Arghhh. I'm over worked right now, but I love PbtA games. Been dying to try this one, and I appreciate your personal narrative style ...

Hmmmmnnn ... if you're serious about the slow burn pacing, maybe I can actually put together a character for this ...

Joke's side, aww shucks, thank you, rhaiber! You know I adore your writing style to pieces, so I'd be pretty stoked to have an app from you. And yes! I am very serious about the slow burn pace. 1 post every 2 weeks fits my schedule right now. It could get slower over time due to holidays and what not, but I'll be sure to keep everybody updated on any changes that occur.

Honestly, I have been wanting to play in a TSL game myself. I am hammy to the core (see: all my characters on RPGX) and the system just vibes with me. It was during my move, when I was stuck in a car for around 28 hours, that the idea for the campaign popped in my head, so I have decided to take the plunge and run it myself! It's gonna be glorious! I feel it! So much cheese! So much drama! So much romance! All that gosh dang good stuff!

Oh fear not, my dear traveller from unknown lands, that all who apply themselves will not be forgotten! For I will make note of all who throw themselves at my eldritch throne, with hearts full of passion and wonder, I will remember them, call upon them, when a new adventure arrives...

Which is a fancy way of saying that everyone who finishes an application will be on the roster list that I will pull from if anybody drops out, if I desire more players later in the campaign, or when I decide to run a second game of TSL, I'll just come to ya'll and ask if you are interested still via private messaging!

Yay! Well I appreciate you being so accommodating; allow me to reward your kindness with the first of what I assume will be many annoying questions!

Since a character's sword is as much a part of who they are as it is their weapon, it seems like it's very open to flavor interpretation. Would it be a problem if someone's sword was a dual pair of blades? I'm strongly feeling the Scoundrel playbook and I'd love to play her as a lawless, bisexual, dual-wielding mess of passion. A little on the nose I know, but it's just where my mind is going. If that doesn't work though, obviously I'll think of something else.

Listen, as someone who constantly asks questions themselves, there's no such thing as an annoying question in my book! It's all valid! And the one you asked is something I didn't think to cover in my FAQ, anyway, so thank you for that~!

The answer is: go for it!! It's just gotta be sword-adjacent, which daggers are in my opinion. I am also pretty sure dual-wielding daggers/blades is a suggestion in a few Playbooks, so you are already nailing the idea behind them! And a hot mess of a lawless, passionate, bisexual Scoundrel is pretty dang good. On the nose or not, it sounds like a fun idea to roleplay!

Heh, I've been pondering a Scoundrel for the past few days as well (mostly because I like the idea of having someone to egg on the Beast and the Naga), but since Touketsu said something first, I'm willing to defer to them. I think I can execute a slightly modified version of the concept I have in mind ("speed-running hedonism") as a Nature Witch.
