waves back at the Queen Hello, it's good to be here, if only to make things harder on Mundy for throwing this at me out of nowhere lets out an evil laughter
And this vampy picture's been sitting in my character pictures inspiration archive for a while now and I've been itching to do something with it. When I saw The Bloody playbook. Things just clicked!

A slow burn TSL game is just the thing I need to get back in the swing of things here after a forced hiatus. Let me flip through the playbooks and see what sings to me.

Character Application Template Name: Tabitha Essel. Though she's happy to change it (see below). Physical Appearance: For her somewhat above-average height, the rest of her parts don't seem to quite match one another. Her arms a little longer than expected, legs a little shorter, shoulders a little more broad, hips a little wider. Moves like someone who's seen flirty and seductive, but is just a little too gawky to pull it off herself. Dark blonde hair in a bob cut with a deep red streak on the right side framing her face. Still hoping to find a suitable picture at some point. Playbook: Dream Mirror Concept: Average girl from average mid-sized city, desperate to be noticed. She decides that going to Prism City and the Party therein is her best chance: she's going to be the world-equivalent of a rock star. The idea is that she'll be anything to anyone if it'll give her a chance (thus Dream Mirror for a playbook). She shoves herself -- her very ordinary (in her mind) self -- so far down that no one will realize just how ordinary she really is. Your Fashion Style: What would you like it to be? What's trending? More seriously, though, she thinks she's got a sense of what Prism City looks like, what the popular fashions are, what the Party of the Century must be like, and she's cobbled together a look from that. Unfortunately, she's at least a season out of fashion due to a lack of updated information. At the start, she's trying for just a little bit edgy mixed with feminine. Black leggings and a box-pleated skirt the same color red as the streak in her hair, black long-sleeved turtleneck shirt with shimmery thread throughout, too much makeup, heavy-soled black leather boots. Someone trying to look punk or goth but landing in the no-woman's-land in between by trying to hedge her bets and still be fashionable. Your Sword: Tabitha's most prized possession is her guitar, which she's brought with her to Prism City. It's been passed down through her family for generations. The inlays on the fretboard are crystals imbued with magic that provide three things: one, the all-important amplification (don't need to carry around an amp with this "electric" guitar), two, they act like an effects pedal, and three, allow it to transform into a literal axe. It's a double-bladed battle axe in the same chartreuse sparkle color as the guitar body. This is her sword-adjacent weapon. Your Motivation: She wants to be a rock star. The Party is going to be the very best place to get noticed, to find a stage worthy of what she thinks are her ambitions. She's clearly never heard the phrase "be careful what you wish for". What tropes do you like as a player? Saved by love when all else seems lost. Unspoken romantic tension between friends with slow burn resolution. Betrayal. Rip-your-heart-out-and-stomp-it-on-the-floor power ballads. Mistaken identity. Found family. Discord? Yes please! Especially in a slower-paced game, having the ability to build some camaraderie and communicate more quickly and collaboratively than in an OOC thread is really helpful. |

Wicked!! Two Completed Apps posted in a span of ten minutes!! My lucky day~!!
@SevenStones -- Tabitha looks aces! Big fan of the 'What would you like it to be? What's trending?' line as that said paragraphs of what kinda gal Tabitha is! That vibes pretty well with certain aspects of Prism City. Plus, rockstars. Everybody loves rockstars! Especially one's who double their guitar as a literal axe. For some reason, I never considered that as a possibility, and yet, now that it is here, I am enamored! c: I added you to the table as Completed! Lemme know if you wanna change anything later, and I'll go back and reread it! @EmmaRae -- Love what you brought to the table with Val, EmmaRae~! I was wondering if anyone was going to hop on the opportunity to play as a Hologoddess, and I have to say, pretty delighted by Val! The backstory you added for her works perfectly for me-- personal entertainment Ai's was actually something I wanted in the setting-- so you did not step on any toes! And maybe I am bias, but I respect the bisexual lighting. And the holo hair. God, I want holo hair. I have marked you done as Completed on the table! If you wanna rework anything, just hit me up!

Whoof, competition is getting stiff! I’m starting to get worried looking at all these phenomenal applications!

You're telling me!!!
Every application brings something unique to the table that I'd be over the moon to play with!! I have already decided to keep the roster list close to my heart, that way if I rerun the Prism City one-shot, or when I do Die Fabulous 2, I'll just tap ya'll-- if everybody's cool with that, of course! That said I have been debating taking three more players instead of just two. I have been greatly advised against from running two groups at the same time (which is fair, I want quality over quantity for my GMing) but a slightly bigger group doesn't sound too insane. *sighs* But man, what I would give for two of me right about now.

Yeah, for sure. I feel like running two groups SOUNDS like a good solution, but tends to result in burnout for a lot of people. I don't think any of us would complain if you took an extra person though...

Yeah, it's always tempting to take on a bunch of extra people when there's a lot of good applications—you don't want to disappoint anyone!—but it really doesn't work out well for anyone in the long run (or at least that's been my experience). You're the best judge of how much room you have on your plate, of course.

I appreciate the input!! Thankfully, Qat's been my voice of reason, and reminds me that I am not a roleplaying god. Yet.

Also from experience, sometimes keeping a list of alternates on hand is useful in case one of your players has to back out. You can never predict when IRL will get in the way.
