Character Application A Resourceful Seeker who Throws with Deadly Accuracy Name: Riven Gildwan Age 27 Description: Riven can usually be found in a duster and traveling clothing including a dark bandana that he uses to cover the bottom half of his face. While on the road he pulls up a hood to protecting him from the elements. He is lithe but walks with strength and confidence. Personality: Riven is somewhat quiet and not overtly extraverted but he understands the importance of good allies when things go sideways, and they always go sideways. He can be cynical at times because he expects the worst to happen, but he secretly always hopes for the best and is intensely loyal to his friends. Background: Riven grew up to an unknown family in the outskirts of Navarene. Their homes were mostly made of scraps from things they had found from the time before and hobbled together enough for them all to survive. Survival had been something Riven learned at a very early age, as well as a respect for community. When you had nothing, you shared everything. It was through community that his family was able to survive. Eventually Riven got old enough that he sought more than just living, he wanted a life. Always a curious lad he had taken to exploring the old ruins and when he discovered he could turn over a pretty sten for rare artifacts he quickly made a name for himself as someone useful. The work got him out of the slums and into the city proper. Once there he swore to make a big score that would let him live his life without worry ever again. Have you played Numenera and/or Cypher before? I have played Cypher and have all the Numenera books but I've never gotten the chance to play. Have you played this particular adventure? I'm not sure I'm up for yet another disappointment/rejection... But it's Numenera. I've been waiting for a Numenera ad since I've started this whole pbp thing!!!

Vish'na The empathic nano who talks to machines It is only when they go wrong that machines remind you how powerful they are. Age: 37 Gender: Female Personal Details: At 5'7'' Vish'na stands at an average height. But that is pretty much the only thing average about her. Even though not a fighter by nature or by craft, she is fit and healthy looking. She is sporting an above the shoulders jet black, straight hair, shaven partially on the right side, where one can see a jack port implant. Her bright yellow nano eyes can appear unnerving when you meet V for the first time. They seem almost cold and emotionless, but behind them lies a depth of empathy few can even comprehend. Because of the depth of her empathy Vish'na has learned to build walls around herself for protection and she almost always gives off this aloof, unapproachable vibe, when in fact she is a very warm and welcoming person. Ready to listen and help however she can if she can. Because of her ability to read people like an open book V is very careful who she lets inside her protective walls, but once she lets someone in, they become like family to her. She is loyal to those select individuals and would go through hell and high waters for them. She can be reserved with strangers and acquaintances, again, appearing almost cold and disinterested, but if people persevere and really and genuinely try to get to know her, she will open up.Because V can read and perceive, and feel emotions so deeply, she's had to learn to control them to an almost expert level and is very levelheaded when under pressure and in situations that require swift and decisive actions. Her calm, commanding presence in those instances is a sight to behold. Bio: Vish'na never knew her father. Her mother raised her on her own, working as a numenera scientist with the Aeon Priests. Her father, a skilled explorer, had apparently been lost during an Iron Wind, while out searching the lands for new numenera. Sher'sha brought up her little girl to be inquisitive and studious. By the time Vish'na had become a young adult, she was already well versed in the numenera had extensive knowledge of its various uses and could identify the most common ones with eyes closed. She had also inherited her father's explorer spirit and loved going out on expeditions to find new vestiges from the long forgotten past. She would spend hours upon hours with her mother trying to determine the nature and functions of recovered numenera. She had a good life. Until one time, when she was out on the prowl for new treasures, she was attacked. Rendered unconscious and abducted to an unknown location, by an obscure cult. She was to become the cult's messiah. In the span of several months, almost half a year, she underwent numerous surgeries. The cult implanted her with many jack ports at strategic places on her body. They augmented her eyes with nano technologies and made many more modifications to her body. Before she woke up from one of her final procedures, she was rescued by Aeon Priests and brought back to her mother. As it turned out Sher'sha had contacted some Aeon Priests she apparently knew through Vish'na's father who were unaffiliated with the Order. The mother of the young woman had her reasons and as such the two of them cut ties with the Order of Truth and continued living as independent explorers and salvagers of ancient treasure and knowledge. Have you played Numenera and/or Cypher before? Have you played this particular adventure? Cypher - yes. Numenera - No. This character was developed for a Numenera game which never started so the character concept was never used. Can you provide some links to other posts you've made? A.C. Howdy folks!
I believe I have the table up-to-date and am loving the apps I am seeing. This is a much bigger turn-out than I was expecting!
There is about 26hrs left before I close the applications.
I will take the weekend to re-read over everything and will post those who I've chosen here.

Application - Gibraltar Name Gibraltar Moonsen Concept A mystical Wright who Builds Tomorrow Write up As one grows older, many of the human senses grow duller, some like a sense of curiosity possibly fading entirely. But inversely, Gibraltar's vision for the future had only gotten greater with age. It was a vision that considered both the past, present, and future. But compared to other wrights who all could be called visionaries in their own right, Gibraltar had been at this a very long time. Decades ago his family experimented with the numenera, great, confounding relics of the past that exceed comprehension and seem to defy reality itself. When Gibraltar was but a young man, his eyes were already opened to the past that was yet more advanced than the present. The ether. Possibly a transcendent dimension, or maybe just the layer for another state of existence that was apart such as what humans could commonly perceive. Learned minds couldn't agree on what the ether actually represented, but once upon a time, an entire civilization decided to transcend. The remnants that they left behind and all the other fluctuations of partial existences which arose from the ether were called ghosts, at least to the layman. But since his own alteration when he had been but a young man, Gibraltar had already understood far more. Because the numenera had given him the sight. With the understanding and knowledge that Gibraltar had gained, he had almost been predestined to become a wright. But his art at times defied what his peers would consider scientific craftsmanship. The laymen would call some of his skills mystical in nature, but those who understood more about the reality of the ninth world knew that to be imprecise. It's the denominator Gibraltar was wont to choose all the same. He just knew how to make things work, just like any other wright worth their lick of salt. Just only sometimes his connection to the ether allowed him to go one step further. The numenera, cyphers, iotum... they weren't fully understood, and some defied understanding altogether. But some of those gaps didn't need to be filled to achieve something workable. "Just a small ghost. Spirited work, if you will. Haven't you heard of them? The ghosts in the machine?", Gibraltar was wont to say with a knowing smile. In truth, much of the reality of the ninth world which suggested itself to the old man was, and would always remain foreign to him. But part of him could see where all of this could lead. Transcendence or reemergence? Leaving something behind or starting anew? Life was cyclical in nature, and Gibraltar never worried about these differences. Humans were only meant to put one step in front of the previous, that's all it took to move forward. And maybe, sometimes in small moments the ether allowed Gibraltar to take an extra leap. That's all it was to the seasoned wright. A vision of how his fellow humans could become just a little more advanced. Every wright's job was to make life just a little bit easier. And Gibraltar was just a single step more informed to fulfil that role. Even if he had gotten old, he still had a lot that he wanted to do. While tempered by age, Gibraltar's curiosity and vision had never faded even a bit. Maybe the next numenera discovered was all it would take to build a much greater tomorrow... Edited to add some character options book references. Since the character was developed 5 years ago it was probably before the split of the core book to Destiny and Discovery. The resources I have are a single Numenera core book. Character options 1 and 2.
