Plot SummaryKing Asguild ruled a massive empire for many decades, but now he is approaching the end of his life. During his reign, he had no bride but many concubines and has 25 children. Recently, he directed his advisors to divide his vast lands into 25 Districts in order to end the generational onslaught of siblings.

The king began bringing each child into his death chambers individually to discuss what it takes to be a ruler, allow the child to choose the district they desired, and finally listened to how they wish to rule. Behind the scenes, several siblings conspired with corrupt officials to readjust the borders for certain city-states. Several advisors decided to skip over the Half Orc children until after the others had their choice and now the lands are written in stone, engraved in the runic literature with blood. The King is dead, the King is dead, Long live the Kings and Queens.



IMPORTANT NOTICE; I'm having computer problems and a Hurricane has decided to visit us. I may or may not be active between now and Sunday. I will have a new computer Saturday (not sure about morning or evening)

Choosing Your LandEvery District has strengths and weaknesses, so no city-state is without problems to solve. With the kingdom broken into smaller cities, can you now afford the large army at your disposal? If you were one of the last children to choose what resources were left within your new nation? Will you pursue diplomatic relations with your siblings or will you build an army to invade the districts and once again unite the land? These are your challenges. I have already pre-rolled the population, military size, tax income, and natural resources.

In the game thread Players will roll 1D100 'Please do not make rolls in the recruitment thread' Highest score gets first pick and works down. NPCs will fill the remaining regions.

If you choose to be Half Orc, you will roll the 1D100 three times and take the lowest results (yes it is a conspiracy, you can investigate and discover the source if you want) I linked a location people can go to in order to roll. Players can also choose to work together in deciding locations.

Choose a cultural image; This will start your architecture, military structure, cultural and technological advances: (Aztecs, Britons, Celtic, Chinese, Egyptians, German, Greeks, Indian, Japanese, Moorish, Persians, Polynesians, Roman, Scandinavian, Slavic, Spaniards, Zulu. Yes, Native American too, but there were way too many cultures to list here)

Creation Restrictions
Maximum 12 players
Players; 4-12
Level 6;
Attributes are 30 point buy
Race; Core Races (Although technically players are half human; If you choose a full blooded race, that is your dominant race and act as such.)

POST RATE; x2/Week. If you post ideas you want feedback on, want a solo story, etc. I may post more than this rate. This is the minimum for players and I reserve the right to meet the x2 post/week as well depending on my schedule.

Class Restrictions; No Homebrew, Multi-Class yes
Alignment Restrictions; No Chaotic Evil.

Inheritance; The land you chose and 900 GP for your personal fund;
150,000 GP to be used on building or adding to your retinue.

NotesAdventuring: Yes, you can still go on adventures, who is going to tell a king no?

I will create each player's thread which will be your 'Throne Room' your first post will be your character post. These are similar to solo games.

All cities have a population between 10,000 and 60,000, remember this includes women, children, elderly, and the disabled.

In my creation post I will provide you with the conditions of your lands and will make each player kingdom secure. (only you and I have access unless you request access to another person.). Those who wish to view threads without participating PM the player and they will authorize it with myself.

There will be a Diplomatic Thread to seek alliances, trade, or humanitarian assistance.

There will be a Joint thread for group activities when players wish to participate in these activities.

There will be an NPC thread which will discuss actions taken by NPC siblings in their borders. Treat this as you having superior spy networks operating in those lands.

Players: You can choose to keep your kingdoms close to each other, but that will limit expansion for some, but it is real secure. Or spread apart.

Personality Harmony has always been the first to go out of her way to help others. That is not to say that she is a pushover, she will defend herself if needed, but she would prefer to use her words before violence. Having a strong connection with nature, Harmony spends a lot of her time outdoors. Seeking guidance within the stars rather than so old advisor. Keeping an open mind to others, and their opinions.

Appearance Slender frame, the first thing people are quick to point out is her beauty. Dressed in earth tones and only natural materials. She has never been a girl that wanted to be lavished in jewels. Long black hard and even darker eyes, her redish skin made her easily stand out in a crowd.

Backstory Harmony was an only child. When she was young she never liked to play with the other children. She found herself drawn to the forest behind her house. Even when her mother forced her to do her studies, Harmony found it very hard to focus. Instead of studying indoors, her teachers found that she was happier outside, feeling the grass. Although she found the political aspects of noble life to be boring, as she got older, Harmony sat in on meetings and learned the ways of the court. Her heart was always in the wilds however and she found any excuse to venture out in the open. The stars where her guides and animals her friends.

Personality: The second son of his father, Najih was always superstitious. Unable to match the physical feats of his firstborn brother, instead he tended to hide away in the libraries and read except when a soothsayer or prophet came to the city. Never able to resist, he studied all the systems of divination, from the Tarot of the Europeans to the I Ching of the Han. Although intelligent, he got a reputation for being changeable and weak willed as he often saw signs and portents that caused him to change his mind. As he grew more proficient as his divination, he changed his mind less but is still known for listening to all arguments and making up his mind slowly.

Appearance: Slim, round of face, Najih can get lost in his reading or his thoughts, forgetting to eat or exercise. He is light skinned for a Moor, possibly due to his preference for indoor activities, with long hair under his turban and a pencil moustache.

Backstory: Najib grew up a prince, indulged in his eccentricities. He focused on his reading and divination very early on, and probably would have made an excellent vizier or advisor to a classic king like his brother. However, when chance and birth brought him to his own thrown, he was uncomfortable with the making of decisions and especially with the fighting of wars. His need for advice and reassurance has made his court a center for mages, sorcerers, warlocks, and priests; with all the incumbent infighting that you would expect. He has also created an excellent spy network to try to reassure himself about the intentions of others around him.

This looks really interesting if you can juggle all the players and keep up the pace. I've never played a pure spellcaster but if I'm a ruler, rather than a pure adventurer, this looks like the time to try it out.

Some questions:

Core races = PHB only?
30 point buy, what is individual stat max?
Background = noble only or any that fit the concept?
Feats, subclasses, etc., can they be from other WOC official sources?

Personality: She moves gracefully with everything she does. Very calm personality, She takes care of every one, trying to give them a good place in the world. She always wants to fix every situation given equal importance to all side of any problem. And that obsessive side of her charming personality sometime harass the more radical tempers.

Appearance: She like to wear long black and white robe. Her long black braided hair mixte with her pale skin, more than most of her tribe, made her easily recognizable from distance.

Backstory: Rastel is born under the sign of the moon (Dawa). She has been tattoo in her early age with a crescent white moon on the forehead. Dalai Lama link her soul with the light of the moon, since she has difficulty to sleep on high moon. At that time, she walk outside and try to give advise about respecting the five basic moral precepts, undertaken by members of monastic orders and the laity, are to refrain from taking life, stealing, acting unchastely, speaking falsely, and drinking intoxicants.
She walk quickly in the spiritual ways. All that positive energie put her in the good grace of the Leader of the tribe

When she learn that she's from the king bloodline himself, she was astund and denied to be his child ... but the King request her, and speak about the legacy he want to give her and to continu to make thing right. It take some time to accept it but, after meditating and chanting some humming all night long in the meadow under the full moon, she see a sign from Buddah.

Personality: Like most of her tribe, Dutasa Sunbloom is highly superstitious, spiritual, and a believer in omens. She steps a fine line between being a gentle compassionate soul, and one which is unpredictable and driven my personal emotion. As easily as the tide changes, or the clouds might blow across the sky, her thoughts wander between reality and forces invisible. Young and largely inexperienced in leadership, she uses passion and stirring words to guide her people as best she can. Her people hold great respect for the natural world and its gifts, and are angered by those who exploit, lie and change landscapes in order to further their own desires.

Appearance: Dutasa doesn't look much like her father, for these island people's bloodline is strong! Her pitch-black and often tangled hair is spiced up with wildflowers, and her skin speaks of time spent beneath sun-filled skies, glowing as though the light has been captured within her. A set of dark eyes looks dreamily outward at the world, in an expression that is hard to place. Is she dreaming of something? Or waiting for the gods to answer some newfound question?

Backstory: King Asguild and his entourage probably considered the lands of the Sunbloom's to be something of a tourist destination, or at least a point of anthropological and historical interest. It made sense that he might woo the tribe's elder's oldest daughter (Dutasa's mother). It was an act of peace-making, cultural joining, and a brief yet heavy love. Dutasa's birth cemented these people's bond to the king, and as her mother grew old and frail, it came upon Dutasa to inherit a section of the King's legacy.

Other: Initiative roll (d100) for starting district choice = 30.

OOCReally love the concept of this game and story. Has huge potential to mix RP and kingdom building!

Update: In seeing a fellow Japanese-inspired application, I've changed this one to polynesian as that's another cultural source of inspiration that I thought could be fun!

Personality: Not usually wanting to be the center of attention, Ingan can normally be found near the edge of a room during social gatherings. Preferring to observe from afar, though he can be quite charming should you engage him in a conversation. Be warned: his words may be as sweet as honey, but honey can hide the most bitter of poisons.

Appearance: A thin and lithe man of middling height, though agile to make up for his lack of stature. Dark brown medium length hair is slicked back and falls around his neck, and a close-cropped beard frames his face. Ingan always seems to have a warm and pleasant smile, trying to be approachable in this otherwise cruel world.

Backstory: Early life was trying at times for Ingan and his mother. Although never outright broke or homeless, they did whatever they could to survive and make ends meet. For a time, Ingan fell in with a crowd less than befitting of a child of the king, and was able to make some coin through unscrupulous means. However as he aged and found a passion for playing music, the young man has taken to more traditional sources of income.

Personality: Calm and collected, Kimimaru rarely loses control of his emotions. He is thoughtful and does his best to look after those who serve him. He does not forgive easily and has a mind to set harsh penalties for crime. In truth he would rather be in a smithy working than attending to public affairs as the head of state, but he has accepted that due to his father he will be thrust into the limelight.

Appearance: Tall, around six feet, and well-built with very little fat on his body due to his hobby of swinging a smithing hammer. His long straight raven black hair is kept in a ponytail on the top of his head but still falls to shoulder length. His steely grey eyes give off the radiance of someone who takes no crap from anyone. His hands are tough and calloused but other than that his skin is smooth and unmarred. He wears cloths of silver and blue silk when in the public eye, his hammer at his side no matter what. In his privet time his dress doesn't change much save for the thick leather apron and smithing tools that adorn the belt.

Backstory: Born to a concubine Kimimaru's early life wasn't much to speak of. He received basic education as anyone with noble blood would, but he wasn't in line for the throne, that is until he showed signs of being blessed by the god of forges and to have the mental capacity to grasp smithing at the young age of ten. From then on, he spent most of his time within the royal forges tinkering and creating anything that he could think of and after a few years his crafts were as good if not better than those who were teaching him. It was noticed that before he started any project, and just after finishing them Kimimaru would sit Infront of an anvil and prey. What he was prey about was never known but he never missed the opportunity. His abilities drew the attention of several generals and ministers of war, this youth could create such amazing weapons yes, but he also handled them as if he was a veteran soldier with years of experience under his belt. For this reason, many influential men and women started to rally behind Kimimaru and thrust him into the line of those who would take over after the king's death. Since then, Kimimaru has expanded his studies to affairs of state, diplomacy, war, and history so that he can be as great as those around him think he can be.

I'm expecting many of the players active at odd times. Sometimes a group and many where one or two are on at a time. Players will also drop notes of their plans via PM or secret posts and I'll do the mechanics and relay the progress.

Core races; PHB.... anything outside will need to be explained. Even being a whore of a man mating with a demon or cloud giant..............kind of doesn't make sense

Attribute max is 18 before racial and level adjustments

Any background that fits, but nobility in title only.

No feats. subclasses are good to go. No crazy stuff and other sources are ok. just remember. No crazy stuff.




Group settings will be made in threads but most will be personal threads for behind the scenes building.

Diplomacy, combat, trade, and the Kingdom's states have equal balance.

Achieving treaties, trade partners, aid, and joint operations. gain 200 xp

Trade agreements and securing trade routes. gain 400 (200 for the trade agreement, 200 for securing the route.

Combat; Conquering another district 200xp, successfully defending against an assault 200 xp, losing a battle 100 xp.

Expanding the logistics and trade strength of a kingdom is 200 xp plus increase in revenue, population, taxes, and available recruits. I have already determined the starting number in your military, but you must determine which types of units are being used. Remember that you have to pay them.

Discovering the answers to a mystery or discovering a magic item or artifact is worth 300 + the value of the item.

Circles are the designated 'city states' In my introduction post I linked a thread for players to roll a 1D100. Let me know the results of that roll. Without information as to the strength of the cities, those with the highest roll will choose one (include the district number you want) in the event more than one person wants the same property, the player with the highest roll wins, in case of a tie we reroll.

Now, if you want to play a Half Orc, there is a conspiracy taking place by some of your half siblings. Because the advisors creating the map are involved in the conspiracy. Half Orcs have to roll 3 times and take the lowest result.

Once everyone has selected their city/states, I will provide you the template with basic information. I have lists for building resources, available advisors, generals, military units, and a general idea of what is currently taking place inside your borders.

Each Hex is 10 square miles. Hard marches can cover 2 Hexes in a day. Moderate 1 hex. Horse or wagon 4 hexes in a day. Traveling on top of mountains completes 1 hex per day. If you create a tunnel system you can travel the normal 2 hexes a day. There are rivers throughout the mountains so every region has access to water.

No specifics until you have selected your district.

right now, you are rolling to get the first pick. Each player will be allowed to choose one of the circles, but to be fair I want everyone to roll a D100 to see where everyone fits in the order.

Note that just because a circle is larger doesn't mean it is stronger. Look for places that provide good resource options.
