but use the 5th edition rules. I keep reverting to 3.5.

Alright, if we have everyone rolled to determine who selects first, we can start looking at the map and picking.
not every one have roll yet

and seem to have the last to put his feet on the doorstep : Palliven who just roll a 95 ... but that all I have for info for him

Thank you for keeping track Kham, I appreciate the help.

OK gang, 13 on the map is a different color, it looks like either corn, wheat, oats, rice, or some grain.

Also, I have several more rolls for everyone to make which are to help build your civilization..would you like to roll (on the previously used roll thread) or choose once we get the game thread?

I think we better wait that every one complete the first stage ...

that will let time to open the tread and let you prepare those for a clean start ...

Name: Heddwyn Dun'Dain
Gender: Male dwarf
Class: Wizard (Abjurationist, war caster)
Chosen Culture to emulate: Welsh
Personality: A serious and responsible man Heddwyn is driven to carry the weight of the world by his love of the people around him. He finds joy in others happiness, satisfaction in others accomplishments and sadness when others he cares for hurt. Those rare cases where he does relax he enjoys family meals, singing traditional songs with his deep baritone voice and painting. He has a curiosity to learn and while eager to try new things and explore new avenues, has a strong traditional mindset around right and wrong. Slow to anger and quick to forgive, he does not tolerate liars or fools.

Appearance:
Heddwyn’s long red brown hair is shaved on the right side and worn long on the left. A line of archaic symbols is tattooed in blue ink on the skin of his shaved head, marking him as part of the Sundergaard. His long beard curls in the front and has one thick braid hanging down the left side. The braid is held by three wide silver bands, each etched with a dwarven name. He almost always wears a leather jerkin covered with large, steel plates rectangular in shape with curved corners. While most are bare of markings except the scrollwork etchings along their bottom edges, several have runes that have been etched and then painted red across their surface. A dark green tartan kilt above chain greaves is part of what he wears to battle. Easy to overlook due to the well-kept. but well used, tower shield he carries is his missing left hand. Where that hand once was is now a silver forged arm cap.
Territory Roll: 95

Backstory:
Life in the Citadels was a life of purpose. Like each dwarf before him, Heddwyn Dun’Dain stood before the Council of Three as they read through the tablets of his lineage and questioned how strong the flames burned in his soul. While some accepted his claims of royal lineage, others doubted it or cast dispersions against him for it. Perhaps this is why The Council ordained that Heddwyn’s purpose was to serve in the Sundergaard, a path that would have him learn the ways of magic and war in order to protect the people.

For years he trained, learning the discipline of the Sundergaard. His skill grew as did his confidence. He stood among the guards at each battle, protecting and supporting them so their might would never falter. He began to think there was no foe they could not drive back but then fate stepped in and proved him wrong. Their small group went past the secure outskirts, overly confident in their strength and unaware that there had been recent attacks. They were set upon by swarms of foul beasts and soon were fighting for their lives. Heddwyn stood among the guards using his spells, but despite his magic and his courage had to watch them get torn apart. They were Sundergaard though and they gave what they got. When all was done, one guard remained standing and Heddwyn was on one knee, holding the bloody stump where his left hand used to be.

The following months found him doubting himself. Despite his training and the strength of the warriors with him, they had nearly fallen. He struggled with the conflict between what was expected of him and his diminished sense of self-worth. For many nights he sat, unsure what his future held and what he should do. Ultimately though, that decision was made for him when he was summoned to King Asguild’s chambers to hear his final words.
Never having acknowledged or supported Heddwyn, the King had not been much of a father to him, but hearing Asguild’s words before he died, Heddwyn now understood that he had been Father to his Empire. That had been his priority. The king’s words inspired him and helped him see that his life was not in vain but had led him to this moment. He saw his purpose and it was clear. In this fragile time, it fell to Heddwyn to protect that which had been built, to provide shelter to the people behind the shield of his rule. It would be Heddwyn that would ensure that the people given to his care would thrive, that what the Empire had stood for did not crumble and be lost to history. There would be hardships to face, threats to his rule and his lands. As he left the King’s chambers, his head was high, and he had only one thought. Let them come.

Beige= beach, sand; Dark Green = thick forest, Light green is a hybrid between rolling hills and forest (not thick so can sustain, but not export in large quantities.), blue = water, gray = Moutains. There are rivers flowing from the mountains as well. All water on the inland is freshwater.
Not sure this makes sense as there is no grey and the beige does not tend to correspond with shoreline plus there are two different colors of beige, light and dark.

Might I suggest:
Blue = water
Brown = hills (defensible terrain)
Dark Green = forest
Light green = farmlands
Dark Tan = scrub brush/pasture
Light Tan = uncultivated grasslands/pasture

That leaves the lines which are a bit odd. There are brown lines and blue lines on the map.
The brown ones seem to border forests . . . walls?
The blue ones might be streams but they don't make sense as they don't start in highlands, don't flow together and get bigger, and don't end up in the larger bodies of water.

(Sorry, among other things, I teach history and geography and have to repeat this about rivers and streams 20-30 times a year.)

I would suggest having your niece or someone put numbers or variable crosshatching on each terrain type and hand drawing the streams and rivers to make them flow with the terrain. Or, one of us could redo the map for you if you like; key is to change it as little as possible since you have clearly done a lot of prep work with it.

I am a little confused. Are feats and variant human allowed or not? Added race and a picture, though the race may change depending on if human variant is allowed or not.

With similar cultures it would make sense for our lands to be close to each other. We will see where we end up!

People are free to have the same civilizations, we all have different visions of how we see history.

With that, play what you think you will enjoy.

I have the game thread now and will create a few of the joint threads. Let me know if you want your thread with the character name or the name of the Kingdom you chose to name it as.
