Night Magick
I've got some very interesting homebrew rules that you can read here. http://www.rpgcrossing.com/showthread.php?t=21253 There is a general background here. http://www.rpgcrossing.com/showthread.php?t=21252 I got pretty depressed when two out of the three players decided to drop out, but I'd like to try again. I like to show a large amount of dedication to a character when they are created and thus I won't kill you off if you post slow. Heck, even if you drop out I would never just randomly kill your character off, they are still there for you to play or there for you to smile at how I wrote the rest of their story. If you're interested in some general concepts about the story, alot is told in the things that I linked but I will give you a little bit of information about the focal point of the game: Night Magick. Night Magick is elemental magic based off of true power. It's legendary and you don't have to be the smartest person or the most charismatic person to learn it. You just have to be able to free your mind to the possibility that there is more than you know in the world. The greatest of Night Magicians can hold the greatest of powers, but they go through reincarnations and several lives just to become so called masters. They are also pawns of greater beings. There are literally hundreds of things you can do by wielding the power of Night Magick. Applying to join: I know everyone is telling you that you need to write a huge background to join and everything, but I'm willing to help you get started on a background. I am looking for two people, they need to be familiar with Dungeons and Dragons and have an open mind. Thank you for reading this, and I look forward to seeing some great backgrounds and character concepts and hopefully get a couple of new players! -Grimfan

I'm interested as well, though it would seem a few things do need updating for the game. ECL and Gold should be adjusted if the game is starting above level 1.

Happy hippos, this sounds fun! Count me in, all the way! I'm playing a heavy handed, sex appeal female half-elf monk. Hey Ian, you busy tonight? Oh, and to answer your question, he'll probably have Luck under Other Notes.

Oh, and if someone takes the Jinxed trait, they go down, and if no one takes the Bloody Mess trait, EVERYBODY goes down. That one sounds like SO much fun...

Name: Mika
Character Sheet: http://www.rpgcrossing.com/view.php?id=14563 Race: Human Class: Fighter/Rogue Stats: Str 15; Dex 16; Con 15; Int 14; Wis 10; Cha 10; Luck 11 Description: Mika has curly, reddish-brown hair and tanned, freckled skin. Her body is criss-crossed with scars, and she is skinny but with strong, wiry muscles. She likes to blend into the shadows, always a little worried that someone may try to steal her freedom from her, and she is therefore always a little bit paranoid. She is fiesty, and will often jump into a fight or argument, sticking up for whoever needs help, or whoever she thinks is doing the right thing. Background: The first fifteen years of her life were miserable and hard. She lived in the deserts of South Earling, sold into slavery at a young age. Most recently, she was sold to a band of slavers, who roamed the desert trading slaves. They were much crueler than her former owners, for they knew that a broken-hearted slave was much more marketable than a feisty one. That, in fact, is the reason Mika was in their possession - to be broken. In stead of using normal whips, like other slave masters, they used nagaikas - harsh whips studded with shards of glass, designed to inflict real pain on the slaves. When one of the slavers took a fancy to her, she decided to use the opportunity to escape. She submitted to his advances and returned the affection, until one night when a chance presented itself. They were stopped at an oasis, with a few other bands of travellers. Mika was unshackled, a reward for enduring a romance with the slaver for weeks. He was coming to her, after disciplining some unruly slaves. She calculated - grabbed his nagaika, disarming him. He cried out, but she struck too fast, and quickly he was on the ground, unconscious. Mika stole his keys and bolted, knowing the safest way out. Once she was free of the encampment, she saddled and stole a traveller's horse. She felt bad, but she knew he was probably just interested in how much money he would make that week, and if he was a truly good person he would have set her and the other slaves free. I need this horse more than you, she thought, and rode off in the night to the nearest city. Once there, she sold the horse, and used the money to buy herself some equipment to start making a living for herself. Other Notes: Uses the Nagaika, which is a glass-studded whip, found in Masters of the Wild. If this is no good, I can probably work around that. Info about the nagaika: (i will update when I have the book, this is all from memory, the book is at a friend's house) treat like a whip that does 1d6 normal damage. it is literally a whip with shards of glass embedded in it. can have a strength enhancement (like a whip or a bow). 15 foot range, with no range penalties. taken from masters of the wild. The whip is treated as a melee weapon with 15-foot reach, though you don’t threaten the area into which you can make an attack. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, you can use it against foes anywhere within your reach (including adjacent foes). Using a nagaika provokes an attack of opportunity, just as if you had used a ranged weapon. You can make trip attacks with a nagaika. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the nagaika to avoid being tripped. When using a whip, you get a +2 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to disarm an opponent (including the roll to keep from being disarmed if the attack fails). You can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to attack rolls with a nagaika sized for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon for you.

The starting level is still first, I like my characters to progress through their adventure from beginning to end. Let me look at the game and see if there is anything that I want to change. To deal with the luck Statistic just put it under you feats and other abilities on the character sheet. Or in the other notes part of your sheet.
iamarogue: I like your character background, as I like all of your backgrounds, but the main world has no deserts on it. It's a general paradise of normal temperatures. The southern part of the world is nothing but plains and rolling hills, there are no trees. In the north there are mountains that contain various dangers. I can start you out on another planet, but if you're interested in meeting the other person (and grouping up with them like it seems) it might take longer. Also, you start out in a solo game of your own, you can read the other posts there to see what it's like and if it's the kind of thing you all might enjoy. It doesn't look like there's anything I want to change, first level and the proper amount of gold. If there are any more questions and anyone else interested, go on ahead and post here. =)
