High Moor Madness
Note: Applications are closed. My sincere thanks to everyone who expressed interest and made the effort to create a background for this campaign. There were more good characters than I felt I could handle at this point, but I will notify you all if more slots open up. Characters: 4-5 player characters. Race & Class: Any PHB or FRCS (no psionics, no evil alignments). Non-standard races might be acceptable but PM me first to discuss. Starting Level: 3 Starting Equipment: 2,700 gp Background: The campaign begins as the adventurers arrive at the town of Secomber, to the largest inn in town - the Purple Kobold. The inn is a common gathering place for adventurers but events have drawn the regulars away, leaving just a few, less experienced types available when opportunity knocks. The first chapter is fairly scripted, as the party will find themselves swept swiftly into adventure, pursuing a caravan across the Western Heartlands. They may encounter ambushes; small, roaming bands of hostile creatures and other denizens of the area; towns with both hostile and friendly NPCs (and no easy way to tell one from the other); and rumors aplenty. The game will soon open up to allow the PCs more freedom to roam and pursue various adventures. Style: I will look for a good balance of role-playing and action. I'm looking for players with good, consistent posting history and a colorful, but not overly wordy, writing style. Spelling and grammar are important. So is the ability to get along in a group. There are a few house rules but I do reserve the right to tweak certain additional rules on the fly when I feel it adds flavor, enjoyment, reality, and/or simplicity to the game. I admire creative solutions to problems and will bend the rules where reasonable to accomodate that without sacrificing the integrity of the game. I will always strive to explain my reasoning in OOC when doing so. Please make sure you're comfortable with this in principal before applying. Applications: Please post here with name, race, class and a brief background (2-4 short paragraphs should do). You can be a new arrival in town or a young regular trying to break into the business. I will probably be looking at some of your current games before making final selections. As of now, I am planning to allow at least 4-5 days for submissions so there is no need to rush. I will post at least a day before I close applications. You do not need to roll stats, but feel free to do so in this thread if it helps you determine your class. If you choose to roll, use 4d6 seven times and drop the lowest die from each and the lowest roll overall. No re-rolls, but you may elect to do a 32 point buy if you are not happy with your initial scores. Don't be afraid to take on a single low stat. Role-play it effectively. Have fun with it. You don't need to be a super-hero to survive and thrive in this campaign. The gods of Faerun smile upon those that overcome their challenges.

Application
Name - Galdor Cael-ae
Race - Elf Class - Ranger Galdor had wandered the lands for many years choosing to keep his own company more than that of others, not feeling lonely but still liking to brush shoulders with strangers and make odd acquaintances. The towns and cities grasped his curiosity almost as much as the differing natural settings of the lands through which he travelled. The architecture of different races buldings he observed and admired with all the wonder of an architect without ever having put his hand to design, and his observations were not with any critical eye as to the nature of the hand behind the design but were simply an appreciation of the mind from which they had come although things that he recognised some way would stand out to him and would be observed differently. The town of Secomber held as much interest for Galdor as any other town he had passed through only in this one he was looking for a little more than he had in some. For quite some time he had travelled not engaging in any adventure but simply enjoying life from day to day making a living through his song and poetry. With his entry into this town however he decided that it was once more time to pick up his weapons and look for some excitement and adventure. He wandered from inn to inn taking a seat and observing the crowd, asking the bar keep of any directions and then he came to "The Purple Kobold". Galdor stood outside and admired the architecture of this large inn before stepping inside to find that such a large inn was surprisingly low in punters. Feeling thirsty by now he stepped up to the bar and ordered mug of ale before taking a seat and waiting to see what would transpire. If I'm successful then please send me a PM to let me know, cheers!

Wizard and ranger so far, eh? Then I'll go with....
Name - Dorin Earthborn Race - Shield Dwarf Class - Fighter/Cleric As a daughter of two Wanderers, Dorin, though a dwarf, has seen much less of the underground than normal for her kind. She spends her time roaming the surface world, taking enjoyment in exploration and also in testing her axe's edge against the necks of whatever evil-doers she comes across. Those who use the night to prey upon 'weak-eyed' races are her favorite target - dwarven blood is useful in negating the advantages which darkness brings. Taking a fancy to the Purple Kobold, she has often directed her steps toward Secomber when in need of some rest and relaxation. Less dour than your typical underdweller, she enjoys good food, good music, and good company. Though she was surprised to find the inn practically deserted on this trip, Dorin quickly settles in as comfortably as ever. |

Syllander, you can roll one additional 4d6. You are allowed seven and drop the lowest score.
In the mean time, not a single stat over 16 yet after three rolls. The dice gremlins are lurking nearby. Remember you still have the option of a 32-point buy and racial adjustments.

I already chose to take the 32 points over my rolls anyho here is my Characters short BG work up
Name: Densharr Race: Cat folk Class: Druid Walking out of the early morning mist right in front of a human logger scaring the axe right out of his hands, which went flying off into the woods. The frighten human took a couple of steps backwards asking, “What are you?” The black figure responded, “ I am a denizen of these woods that you arre defiling with yourr axe. I wish to put an end to that. Will you take me to the man in charrge of you please?” The man was perplexed by the request and said, “There is no one in charge of me I am a simple farmer clearing some woodland to plant crops.” The black figure took on an angry tone, “Then you must stop what you arre doing this minute. Therre arre a rrace of people who need these woods and have lived herre since the beginning of time. No be gone from these woods and never come back orr my people shall not be so polite next time.” The Framer turn to run, stopping only to pick up his axe and was gone from view. A voice came from the forest itself, “Very good Densharr for your first encounter with the outside world. Now you must go among the outside world and spread the word of the wild. Go and may the wilds protect you on your journeys.” Densharr walked out of the fringe of the forest and shielded his eye for a second from the bright sunlight. He stopped for a second and let out a sharp whistle and a wolf that was as white as the mist it emerged from came trotting to his side. Looking at his contrasting companion he said, “Scout the arrea ahead and see if our farrmerr friend is well gone then return to me.” The wolf set off and was back a few minutes later shaking his fur. Densharr nodded to his friend and set off to the North East to begin his quest of spreading nature’s word.

Hey there,
your campaign sound just like what I was looking for. A little lower than I would have liked but that´s not important ![]() So here he his, the character that I would play if you want to have him. Valker Ohm, human, Illusionist At the moment this character is level 6, but I will tune him down accordingly and buy new stuff with the money that we have, if you like him. There are (sadly) no current games in which I participate. One of the best, though, was this: Dawn of the Year of Lightning Storms Oceansoul |

Name: Halcyon Cisco
Race: Human Class : Rogue (w/ 1 or 2 lvls in fighter eventually) An aspiring professional treasure hunter, Halcyon Cisco, is playing up his lock-picking and trap finding skills to anyone dropping by the Purple Kobold dressed for adventure. Young and reckless, Halcyon comes from a long line of professional cat- burglars, treasure hunters, and adventurers. Unfortunately fewer and fewer members seem to be making it to the family reunions lately, but mediocrity is not the aspiration of the Secomber-based Cisco clan. Gifted and intellegent, even by his family's standards, Halcyon is also overconfident and underexperienced. On the plus side, Halcyon is very organized and meticulous about preparing for expeditions. Aside from studying lock-smithing and trap dismantling, he spends long hours researching legends, lore, and regions of interest and is determined to venture into the cursed lands in search of fortune and fame. An experienced uncle has taught Halcyon the finer points of bow and blade, and Halcyon also throws daggers with exceptional skill. His determination and professionalism will serve any party of treasure seekers well, if he doesn't get himself killed first. Though Halcyon's motivation is to strike riches and add to the family's reputation, he actually cares very little for material wealth. He yearns to taste adventure, and lives for the next thrill. He revels in his ability to move undetected and hardly passes up an oppurtunity to sneak into dangerous situations. Halcyon knows the importance of teamwork and tends to value his companions highly... sometimes more than they deserve. He believes it is his responsibility to keep everyone alive, and will likely put himself in danger to save a companion, even one who would not return the favor. Above all , Halcyon tries to maintain a professional attitude. Exploring and adventuring is his profession and he treats it as such. He keeps his equipment in excellent condition and his camp is very organized . Halcyon is very bothered by carelessness and apathy and will relentlessly reprimand anyone who forgets to make consideration for one's companions a priority. Notes on the player (me): I've adapted this character from an adventure that is currently fizzzling out. Too many times have I joined a game that starts out great and soon I'm posting in the OOC section, wondering where the heck everyone went!! I need to join a campaign that won't leave me disillusioned! I post at least once a day when I can, as you will see if you look at my current games... which I will gladly provide links to if you wish to see them.
