"Jolly good show and all that, everyone. Angarato, would you mind having a look at that bite I got after you finish off the skeletons?"


Basementicus goes to the treasure room and pulls up his pantleg to inspect the bite.

The skeletons dealt with, Reynard returns to the room after handing the ring to Angarato and sparing a concerned glance for Basementicus. Since the trap on the chest had been disabled, he opens up the lower compartment to see what's inside.

Inside the lower compartment of the chest is a whip. A rather impressive whip that has been studded with hard gemstones. Also there is a functional looking hat, old and dusty. On the other hand, it seems to be very well made, just also well used. Lastly there are a couple vials of magical essence (used for magical crafting) and a variety of gold, silver, and gems. There is also a small gem encrusted box found under the pile of gold and gemstones inside of which is found a doughnut shaped stone.

Finally DWARF employees decide they are going to check on what is going on in the hallway. "What's all the ruckus out here? We hear a boulder rolling and then shortly after we hear a huge stone drop. You guys okay from springing all those traps?" Asks Kryla, who seems to be the person in charge for this shift right now. "Oh hey, a bunch of the nasty gems are gone. How far did you guys get and do you want help moving that piece of marble out of that doorway?"

After a minute of looking over the contents, Reynard emerges from the room bearing the hat and whip in hand. He waves at Kryla with his free hand, "Hi Kryla, we just had some excitement with a couple skeletons. It doesn't look like they'll be getting back up." He leans in conspiratorially, "By the way, I found that item you were asking about. I'd actually like to ask you more about that later, if you have the time." He turns away before she can react, saying loudly, "Thomas, I found the most remarkable hat and I think it would suite you perfectly. Really, I think you'll find it to be a boon in searching for ancient relics and what have you." He presents the hat, holding it so it's cupped up with his hand supporting from underneath, the whip lies coiled on top.

In a quieter tone he addresses the rest of the party, "Do we want them to come help move this boulder? Also, there's still some gold and gems in the chest, I don't have the party purse however. I went ahead and identified these items, the whip is +1, the hat aids in detecting traps and relics, and this curious little device is used for arming traps."

OOC: Valistar updated the party loot to reflect what was in the chest.

As he listens to Reynard speak with the approaching dwarves, Angarato slips the ring on his right hand. A few moments after Reynard finishes speaking he chimes in
Dice Diplomatic Request:
1d20+7 (6)+7 Total = 13
directing his attentions at Kryla, "There is one more skeleton underneath the boulder, it may regenerate unless I can finish It off. Could you please have your team remove the boulder as soon as possible?

One more thing, one of ours was bitten by a skeleton, possibly infected with something, we really have no idea, do you guys have someone who can look at his wound? I am concerned he may have been poisoned or contracted a disease, and there is not much I can do about either. I am going to check on him now, any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated"


Angarato smiles and gives thanks, then moves to Base and inspects his wound. The bite itself doesn't look too bad, but there is a discoloring around the edges that does not look to good. Being unsure of the nature of the wound, Angarato decides the best thing he can do is to help strengthen his resistance and mend any damage until hopefully someone from the DWARF camp can take a look at him. Decision made Angarato, with his right hand, touches the Drow and casts two spells the first will help +1 to saves against harmbolster his resistance and the other to
Dice Cure Light Wounds:
1d8+3 (2)+3 Total = 5
mend what ever damage has been done. Angarato says, "Well I think you should have someone from the camp look at this bite, but hopefully this will help a little. For now, how about you collect the things we found?"

Kryla turns to one of the other dwarves, "Go get Blurg and Bob, tell them that they've got a boulder to move. Also grab Himil to look at their wounds." She goes back to directing other dwarves in the cleanup efforts. The adventurers had been a little messy, but well within tolerance considering what they were doing. It doesn't take long before the two ogres that had been called show up with rope and some other tools and start working on removing the giant block of marble. Though the hallways are slightly cramped for them, their strength makes moving the boulder fairly easy.

"Thanks man. I suppose it has been a while since I've seen an actual doctor. I don't usually get sick. Oh by the way, we never did actually find the source of the negative energy, did we? If it's not in this room we probably have more to explore if we want to find it."

Basementicus gets back up and begins to stow the loose gems in the purse of holding.

Watching the stone fall he muses about how the slab is flush with the tip of his boot a moment before sheathing the sword. As he turns it seems they've all started moving about all fast as they do, and someone's presenting him a hat. Looking up at Reynard he nods in thanks, donning the hat with flare completely unintended. "I appreciate this, thank you. As for this..." He looks at the whip and lets it uncoil. "It's a bit flamboyant, don't you think?"

"The hat looks good on you, the whip... yeah, it's a little flamboyant." Reynard turns to see the two ogres coming down the hall, it looks like a tight fit for them, "Come on, we should give these guys some room to work." He slips back into the room and walks around Basemeticus to look inside the trapped room. "This is some safe, almost seems excessive. That was a really excellent plan with the rope, Thomas, I'm really glad no one was in there when all those traps went off. By the way, do you still have the book?" He takes a seat on the edge of the desk while the ogres work.

"Yes, I do." Thomas comments as he coils up the bedazzled whip, still regarding it with a very curious expression. Holding the coiled whip close to his face he inspects the length of it closely, especially the gems.

Angarato gets up and follows the Ogres into the room. As he passes by Thomas, he winks at him and says "Nice Hat! It suits you."

Entering the room he watches the ogres make quick work of moving the large stone. As soon as he can see the remains of the skeleton beneath the stone, he reaches out with and touches it with his ring hand. Although not visible to most, his magic detection aura could see the bubble of energy blocking the skeleton's absorption of negative energy. As he looks at all three skeletons, he could see that none of them were attracting negative energy any more than anything else in the room, it would be a few years until these remains could reanimate.

Angarato returns to the room where his group is, and says "Well the skeletons are down for the count, if either of you have some crafting skill, should be safe to use their remains now."

Reynard gets up from the desk, "I'll take a look at them." He saunters out into the hall, thanking the ogres in passing. He makes it all the way into the gallery before realizing that the bones decorating the floor the day before are all missing, as though they had gotten up and walked away. "Maybe they did, that illusory boulder made enough noise to wake the dead." He turns in place, scratching his head in confusion while scanning the room again and comes to the conclusion that THERE ARE NO BONES! He sees the party coming in behind him and shrugs at them, "It seems those skeletons were no more than some quality illusions, they appear to have vanished! Anyone want to see what's in the next room?" He gestures towards the as-of-yet unopened door at the other end of the room, "The day is still young and despite all the danger, we've emerged mostly unscathed."

OOC: To be clear, this is the result of a botched roll that I'm attempting to roleplay, poorly apparently. Reynard experienced an epic brain fart and convinced himself that the skeletons never existed.

The skeletons had really just been the bones that had been lying in the display room all along. The pair of ogres didn't take very long to get the large piece of stone out of the way. At this point you have been inside the library for a couple of hours, it is almost 10:30 in the morning. The group has accomplished what they originally came to the dig site to accomplish.

OOC: So that people know what the whip looks like, the whip itself is black and the gems are ruby and obsidian. The rubies on the whip glow when the whip is being held giving off a red glow around the weapon. It is by no means "bedazzled" or "fabulous" so much as something you might see an evil boss using.

Basementicus retrieves the silk rope from the chest and sorts it back into the dungeoneering kit.

Angarato considers the idea of pushing forward, however he thinks of the unexplored offices behind them. "I think it would be best if we cleared the offices behind us first. When you consider what we have seen so far, it might be strategically wise to make sure we have a fully explored path of retreat. Based on the tracks we have seen in this room leading through the door, there is something that was trapped in this room on the other side of that door. The mephit wasn't that threatening, but if what escaped was something like Willowick or stronger, we could have our hands full.

Furthermore, while Base looks strong enough now, if that bite did anything worse than tear the skin, it would be better to have the medic from DWARF look him over. Would be a shame to have it manifest later at a bad time and I doubt the medic would want to follow us too deep into the library.

Just my thoughts, I will follow whatever the group decides, but while you guys discuss the plan forward, I am going to go collect the evidence of the traps we disarmed so we can get paid by the digmaster. Speaking of which, Reynard do you still have that amethyst gem in your pockets? I could put it with the other stuff so we can collect on that as well."
