"Eh, I guess you're right about the danger. The last mission sounded safe enough and there was still some risk involved anyway. Also, Malar's evil, then? Oh well. It sounded like it might have been fun."
Basementicus didn't have to think too hard to come to the conclusion that working for an evil employer would not be very appealing to most people. It seemed like more people preferred Gadhelyn's job anyway. "If delivering packages and finding hidden villages is good enough for you guys, then it's good enough for me, I guess. It just sounds like it's going to be a lot like the last job we went on." Last edited by Explosionguy; Apr 15th, 2014 at 01:40 AM. |

Aurol nods in agreement. Having had all the unfamiliar deities laid out to him, he feels much more comfortable in making a commitment for a job. After all, he's not really in this for the money at all, rather the journey, and an added excuse to do good. The majority of the money he earns will eventually go to more charitable causes.
"I think I agree with Angarato. I refuse to work towards evil ends, and it sounds to me like the elf is one of the only people on the list who does not sound inherently evil. I vote for Gadhelyn job." |

Killian fist pumps in victory. "Is that a majority vote or what? What's the details?"

Angarato leans forward in his chair and looks at Ursan, "I believe we have come to a decision, we choose the Gadhelyn mission. Are you prepared to brief us now or do you need some time?"

Once the mission was selected Venkin's strict posture turned towards the others, "If we request particular goods, items, the sort, please tell me now. I have a small library of alchemical goods that may provide safety from bugs. I hate bugs. I have a feeling that if we are traveling to a hidden elven land we may need secrecy." He let his gaze focus on the splendid paladin. A smile perked up as he took in the detailing on the armor. "A really nice bit of armor. Perhaps - if you would - modifications can be completed."
The homunculus sitting on his shoulder placed his baby sized hand against Venkin's temple. Venkin perked up and looked at the fox-folk. "I was told I was going to be with a wizard - this is for you," Venkin added. He reached into his chest pocket and the sound of marbles rang out and he finally fished out an opalescent marble. Deftly the man took a piece of leather and bound the bit of gewelry in a crossing pattern, forming a necklance and handed it to Reynard, "Reynard correct? This is for you, a small token. Allows you to recall spells you have cast before," he said. He glanced at the others, "I have many more gifts, if you all are willing to help procure supplies," he said. There was a glint in his eyes as he let his gaze wander around the room.

Hearing Venkin's offer, Angarato turns toward Venkin with a sincere look of surprise and delight, "Thank you for your gracious offer, I have recently had this armor crafted, I would love to have some modifications but am truly unfamiliar with your abilities." As he is speaking, he reaches into his backpack and pulls out a dark black piece of studded leather armor that is clearly masterwork crafted. "If you can help me select a modification within your skill set, I have a modest amount of coin and willingness acquire whatever supplies you may require to complete the task."

Basementicus looks at Venkin inquisitively.
"Speaking of improvements, do you use some kind of magic on your projects or is it more like mechanical changes? I've already got some interesting tools at my disposal, so I'm not sure how you could make something like I've got better." As he says this he holds out his shovel. It looks like it's somehow gotten even more complex in design than before and feels much heavier. It's still got a bit of a magic aura. "You can have a look at this if you're interested. I'd certainly be happy if it was further improved. As far as materials go, if I find anything that looks useful I can show it to you as well." Reynard holds out his hand and accepts the jewelry graciously, "Thank you, Venkin." He inspects the stone curiously for a minute, wondering at its properties as conversation continues around him. Hanging it around his neck he glances around the party before looking to Ursan, "I think we're ready for the details of the mission when you are."

Venkin addressed the people individually - "I will need a small list of your skill set to better match my modifications to your abilities," he said.
He looked at Basementicus - "I can do magical or mechanical enhancements. I can make traps, jewels, alchemical substances, weapons and all things wondrous. FOr now I can't make armor," he said plainly. He lowered his hand that he was counting the things he could make. "This bracelet is part jewelry, part wondrous, probably my third favorite creation," he said. His homunculous patted his temple again and Venkin smiled - "This is probably my first favorite," he said softly. Venkin picked up the shovel and looked it over, he touched it and looked at the end - "I will need more time with this item, I am sure I can work with it," he said.

Basementicus smiles at the man's confidence. He wonders at the possibilities for the weapon's future.
"That sounds like quite a portfolio you've got, Venkin! As far as the shovel goes, I hope to demonstrate it soon." Basementicus retrieves the shovel and hangs it from his belt. |

"My skill set?" Angarato asks rhetorically, half chuckling to himself. "At times I feel I am a jack of all trades, I do some healing, melee fighting with mace and shield, and some combat spell casting. I suppose I mainly try to fill in where I am needed, including sneaking around a bit, though we haven't had much call for that yet.
You said you can't make armor, does that mean you can't modify it as well?" |
