Some location information I forgot to post. It has been added to the setting thread, which will soon be recieveing a face lift organization wise.

Nearest Neighbors Three solid weeks of travel along winding roads whose quality is questionable at best. Three solid weeks from the border of Korm, the end of the paved roads and consistent law, leaves a poor soul standing before the wooden gates of a palisaded town known as Fort Hope. Its population changes day by day, swelling to close to five thousand on some days, and dropping down to just a few hundred in the deep winter. Ft. Hope is a trading post, a spot for the merchants who run the Woods Road to sell there wares to those who live beyond the fort, and to buy those things the settlers have to trade. Currently the fort marks the end of the Woods Road, the trading route that travels the farthest south. Fort Hope is run by three brothers whose only responsibilities are to charge an entry fee and to keep the occupants from burning down the settlement. Marios, Kellen, and Jerial spent ten years leading groups of fools on expeditions to the Ranamaen Wastes before retiring to run their little piece of paradise. Tough as nails, greedy, vicious, and with loyalty only to themselves they are not messed with lightly. They employ nearly a hundred guards who collect the entry fee to Fort Hope, and who forcibly eject those whose actions are considered "against the general peace". Often such individuals are ejected on multiple sides of the fort at the same time. Despite the vicious law the fort centers trade for a nearly 200 square mile region.. Even better, the brothers can be absolutely trusted to protect their bottom line. They will guard the business interests of those who trade within their demesnes, so they can continue to collect the entrance fees. This means that there is no appreciable theft within the Fort, and thieves find themselves dead much faster than any city in Korm. There are a number of consignment warehouses where bulk goods, minerals and fur, can be safely stored and their value picked up at a later date. Unlike merchants elsewhere, these are kept completely honest under the theory that honest prices will bring in more business than dishonest prices.

Indeed, maybe a prayer from the religious figurehead of the settlement? Or the "Head of Security" might want to talk to everyone about how they might position themselves if attacked on the road to the town?
