Yes, but Lister grew up in a human settlement and ran into things along the lines of "poncy little elf-man" etc. A few run-ins with sun elves and all that, combined with a slightly bitter edge from the criminal part of his past. On top of that, a lingering resentment from hearing about the glories of elven culture without experiencing it growing up have given him a little bit of a complex. As an outsider he tends to take the side of the underdog. All of your points are valid, he is simply reacting emotionally.

I think Idilippy might be the only other player on the site that enjoys the elf-culture of Faerun as much as I do... haha...
There might be a stigma near Hillsfar (just north of Cormanthor), where non-humans are forbidden entry and the men there have commenced logging from the ancient forests... but I agree with Id. For the most part, the Dales are a pretty open-minded and accepting people (elves and humans, alike), aside from those that are heavily influenced by the Zhentarim. It's one of the few places in Faerun where the humans are proud of the elven influence in their lives. BUT... yeah, it's possible Lister had some bad experiences, but the anger might be a little misplaced in this situation. Thin skin makes for good RP, though, right? |

Ok, makes sense. Amavi isn't approaching the kobold situation from a rational standpoint either so much as an emotional one. I think she could make good, logical points about typical kobold trustworthiness given how kobolds in the vast majority of cases behave, but she isn't able to consider that with her emotions getting in the way. As for the elven glories thing, while most elves (Amavi likely included) wouldn't see it that way, I always thought it was funny for the elven superiority sorts to lord it over humans while conveniently forgetting that some of Cormanthor and Myth Drannor's greatness came after they opened the city to all non-elves of goodly races, and conveniently forget that the elves broke the world, warred long and horribly amongst themselves, and then have been a race in decline.

Yeah, it's hard to participate in something called "The Retreat" and still have any pride. I can see why some elves would stay behind to continue the fight.
Also, this is the most traffic we've seen in this game since it started, haha. Glad to see it hopping again. |

Alric and Amavi are still the holdouts. Are they on board to try to enlist the aid of the kobolds?

Amavi will never be, no, but I'm cool with that course of action since the majority of the party is.

Alric doesn't trust the kobolds, but he will go along, just in case.

Sorry for the extended absence. If you didn’t see my signature, pneumonia struck my house, infecting everyone. I was the last to get it and, after about 10 days I’m finally starting to feel better. I’w will probably be a few days before I can catch-up on all my games. While I was down, my laptop decided to get a virus as well. Just wiped the HD and re-installed the OS so I will be trying to get caught up. Thanks for your patience and I hope you had a good holiday.

Sorry about the delay, I am back in. As far as the story, what language do kobolds speak? Lister knows Sylvan, Elven, and Gnome. I just don't recall if they speak Draconic or not.

I like this game, I really do, but I have to ask what's going on?
I pestered MG to make a post, and he did. I waited a week after the post. I did so purposely as I have a tendency to be aggressive and take a leadership role. Only one person posted after MG and no one posted after I did and its been a week. Is there a reason. Is my treating kobolds as not monsters too much. I'll happily switch back to killing them on site. I always tend to be a bit more eberrony and have Good/Evil in a Grey area with monsters not always being evil.

Woah! That's actually bad on my side, I honestly hadn't noticed MG's post - thought we were still in the same stage of negotiating a plan to kill, use the kobolds as bait, deal with the bandits. I'll take care of it asap.
