Actually, I don't see why Amon would have the ladies despise him (or refrain from doting on him). He might be talkative, but all his man-thoughts have been internal and he has done nothing but promoting his colleagues... Besides he seems to share the disgust for slaves and in a general world of free will, he has been the only one question the metchant's ways... Maybe on behalf of the entire crew, right?

Well actually I was thinking of more the fact that his mouth is a constantly running hose or stuff that doesn't pass through any of several filters and amazes as to how past merchant interactions haven't resulted in him being hounded out of town by upstanding members of society.
