Whilst sitting alone at the bar, the half-orc happens to spot a curious sight. Nearby, a handful of thuggish-looking men are standing warily, led by a tall human woman. Most of them have their backs turned, but Jeukai notices that they all have their hands near their weapons. She can't understand what their deal is. Why are they so tense? Sand
Standing in the midst of the rushing gamblers, looking for a likely game, Sand is startled as a large fellow brushes past him, and a blunt thing brushes against his side. Looking back to see who bumped him, he sees several large men standing by the bar - four of them in total, plus a tall woman who'd be attractive if it weren't for the scars poking out of her eye patch. The thing that poked him, he realizes, is the man's weapon hanging off his belt. It also occurs to him that the men seem to be on edge, as though itching to pull out their weapons. Studying their mannerisms in an attempt to discern the cause of this unease, Sand is unable to tell why they might be nervous. |

Sand attempts to approach the gentle men that are wielding tools of diplomacy. Realizing he'd rather watch the fellows for a moment he attempts to gain a heighten view of the scene to get an overall view and advantage of the situation should it arise in conflict with him.
Intiative

Already alert for something out of the ordinary, Gylmarix's witch-sense was virtually spasming with the subtly volatile situation - without even meaning to he was getting prepared for anything to happen

The woman leading the men is heading towards the cashier's cage when she suddenly stumbles, and a handful of gold coins scatter across the floor. "Blast it!" She curses, and the jingling sound makes most in the vicinity turn their heads.
At that moment, a tall nobleman steps out of the lavatories, clutching a glowing red scroll in his hand. He holds it high towards one of the massive braziers, and the flames erupt in a flash of light. The spell roll a will save, DC 13, to resist. If you fail roll 1d4+1 to see how many rounds you're blinded.blinds most in the vicinity. "All right, folks!" The woman with the eyepatch shouts. "Drop to the ground and don't try anything stupid and we might let you live!" Her voice rings through the room almost unnaturally, and most people follow her orders, for they are surprised, confused, and afraid. |

Erica, ready to continue betting on another game of Ghoulette in her idle chance to come out with a squandry of more coins than before, was one of the many lured into place through the sound of valuable coins rolling and clinking across the ground. She had been about to turn her head back to the game when something caught her eye beyond that; a man, tall and well-dressed, holding a bright red scroll. Something clicked in her mind as he placed it torwards one of the braziers, and as she felt the bright light begin to scour her eyes she turned away in both shock and pain.
Erica barely managed to avoid the bright shock that followed, blinding most of those who had laid their eyes on the explosion of flare and fire. Even still, she went with the crowd; the leader's commands for them to drop to the ground, likely to search their purses and to steal the vault, were followed to the letter. Most were confused and scared, but Erica followed out of neccessity. Standing up would mean gaining attention, and by the looks of things they were likely to shoot any attention-getting subjects. So she dropped to the ground like the others, using her somewhat imperfect vision to search for an exit. |
