... and I'm utterly stupid and just realised that I'll need you guys to take your 1st round actions as well now... since... none of the sailors can act... lol.

EDIT: Actually with all your poor initiatives it's probably a fair bet to say they will actually act before you. Hah.

Oh yeah, surprise round, right?

I'll edit, and add an attack.

Sorry about that, it's been a while since I've run a PbP combat and totally forgot about things like this. Well, we know for next time!

Incidentally... I'm going to be using a description of losing hit points that is much more abstract than you may be used to. For the most part, you will lose hit points from losing energy from a lot of dodging and parrying, the gradual wearing down of your armor, minor scrapes and grazes, and sheer dumb luck. Things like critical hits, failed saving throws, the last hit that knocks you unconscious, and such will be a more traditional "stabbed in the gut" kind of situation. This just helps my suspension of disbelief - a seasoned warrior can keep their defenses up for much longer and much more effectively than an unskilled fighter, but for the most part everyone drops from only a small amount of actual injury. This is all flavour based mind you, and no rules change...

Do we still roll Fort to stabilize when we drop below 0 hit points?

Nothing mechanically changes, it's just the description of combat that will.

You make Con checks to stabilize, incidentally, not Fort saves.

So I start my turn at G10, and can move up the stairs and cast Color Spray at the two sailors? With my initiative 17 will I be acting before them or not? I don't want to waste my spell on just one person is the issue.

So question! Was climbing up the boat our surprise round? o.O? For those of us who were playing the distraction part?

I was going to wait to make my attack until after the sailors move...my initiative isn't high enough to assume I'll get to go before they do and I was going to see if I needed to make a melee or ranged attack.

Avelestar: You'll be fine to move up the stairs and cast on those on your initative. I believe only one moves before you.
EDIT: It's not the ones up there either. Bad sentence. One sailor moves before you and it's not the ones you want to cast on.

Wolfs: Yes. You failed the climb check, which means you'll have to use a move action of your next turn to try again.

uga: You are indeed after some of the sailors, but S6 rolled horribly on initiative; you'll be fine to attack with your bow. (Even if he moved to engage you, you'd likely be okay, because I'd make you 5-foot step back.)

I wasn't sure if we agreed on the 'players roll all the dice' varient or not, but I included a roll for it anyway. If not just a DC15 save, or DC17 if there is any precipitation.
