The Grey Hawk Inn
A two-story construction of stone and timber towers above the rooftops of nearby buildings and rivals the watchtowers for prominence. A sign near its entrance depicts a Red-Eyed Hawk, flocking above a city of stone. Bronze letters affixed to the sign above the picture read “The Grey Hawk Inn” Long-railed hitching posts frame a wide stoop and tall, narrow pine doors providing entrance into the inn. Wood smoke wafts from stone chimneys rising from the steep, wood-shake roof, carrying the promise of warmth and a hot meal within. Welcome to the OOC thread! Here you can post what you want and chat with the other members, take a minute to introduce yourself (Not your character) to the others, and get to know eachother!

I can see Spellcasting is going to be exceedingly nasty ^.^ Two useless sorcerers coming right up!...Also When does a concentration check come into play?

Hmm, you're right, Spellcasting can Get a bit frustrating.
You got any suggestions on making it better? And If not, i could just go back to the original system, if you want.

Our casting DC goes up as we gain spellcraft, that doesn't seem fair

Just to do the maths on that
for 18 CHA casting magic missile you roll 1d20+4 and the DC is 10+1 = 12 which means that we are out of the game for a whole 8 hours just under half the times we cast a spell EDIT: Better, at least now we aren't penalised for increasing our skills But that still leaves us out of the game nearly half the times we cast a spell and our CHA bonus grows slower than our available spell levels, perhaps if we added our spellcraft to the check, or alternatively our caster level (or some fraction thereof) Alternatively the penalty could be made less harsh by cutting us off for minutes instead of hours. Because if two or more spellcasters are cut off for 8 hours, we probably will end up having to pack it in and come back the next day. Last edited by TheMystic; Dec 6th, 2012 at 07:20 AM. |

I Was actually thinking of adding the Spellcraft to the check.
The Caster Level is also a good idea. Updated.

I think something went wrong, I don't see the update.
The other thing I want to ask is How does this interact with concentration checks EDIT: You could declare that we have to cast defensively at all times and even extend the penalty beyond the loss of the single spell, such as the inability to cast spells from earlier Last edited by TheMystic; Dec 6th, 2012 at 07:27 AM. |

I've decided to Incorporate Concentration onto the new system.
Edit: You should be able to now.

That seems much more reasonable, thank you.
I still don't like the idea of being put out of the game for 8 hours, but at least it won't happen every second time I cast |

In order to make it less of a pain in the arse, I've decided to switch it to 1d4 hours instead of the 1d8.

There may be an interesting (RPwise) loophole. Even if I was restricted from normal spellcasting, could I still wishcast, perhaps sacrificing the usual Caster level bonuses that it applies

That whole wishcast thing still is over me, could you explain it to me?
