The talk of APG archetypes inspired me to look at them, and lo and behold I found the Guide archetype for the ranger, which not only fits my character thematically but eliminates that pesky favored enemy class feature that I am not a fan of. So I've added the Guide archetype to my class selection.


Also, "smack talk", eh? Can we tell "yo application is so fat..." jokes here?

I'm fairly confident in the application, but being as I'm new to the forum, and new to the pathfinder scene.. I'm not sure how much weight that confidence holds.

I've borrowed formatting from a lot of folks. Especially the use of tables! I just saw an awesome use of tables that made someone's application look like a pokemon card or something!! I'll see if I can find it since I want to know how they made it!! I can't see it being hand coded like I do my normal tables!!

So, is anyone else disappointed in the total lack of information on sandpoint in the AE players guide?
The origional players guide has a couple pages on the town that really bring it to life. A who's who guide, a list of rumors that are flying around town.

I didn't get your notes on my character until far after the deadline. I thank you for the feedback though. It looks like my primary issue was my inexperience with the traits themselves. I didn't work it into my character, and I didn't select all the appropriate options. Also, the RP Sample was mostly my fault, I viewed his marketing spiel as a very one-sided encounter, not letting up on the customer and such.

Glad to be aboard.

I'm somewhat new to Golarion (I've read up on parts, particularly Varsia for this and other campaigns, but have yet to play in the setting). I'm wondering if someone can make any recommendations about languages a upper middle class chellian/varsian Crossblood would have.

So far I have
Common, Draconic and Varsian on the list, I would like to add Thassalonian too, as it seems like an important language. But I'm not sure if I can take that as a starting language, a language aquired with a point of linguistics or one that must be obtained during the course of play.

I believe Thassalonian would need to be course of play... need to double check in the module, but what I did read made it seem like you personally learning Atlantean...

Description The dwarves of the Mindspun mountains are a hardy lot. Squat, solid, and often quite scarred, their lives are rarely boring due to the burgeoning numbers of giants, trolls, and ogres. Urko is one typical of the breed. Nearly as deep through the chest as he is wide, a lifetime spent in armor has toughened and honed him as a weapon. Trained specifically to fight giants, his splint mail, waraxe, and heavy shield have all been well-maintained but still show the marks of his final testing to join the ranks of the Legbreakers, a group of dwarves trained to respond to incursions by the giants by obvious means.

Background After a few months in the Legbreakers, Urko found himself chafing. Despite his prowess in battle, he itched to take the fight to the giants, instead of waiting for them to attack the dwarven strongholds. The conservative elders, however, would hear none of it. Eventually, the young and impetuous dwarf bid farewell to the clan, determined to gather support from the other peoples of the area and clear out the giant threat once and for all. Making his way through Varisia, he heard rumors and warnings of fell doings in Sandpoint. Unsurprisingly, the increasingly adventurous Giants seemed to be encroaching on the lowlands as well. In fact, he heard from a number of travelers that he met along the way that Sandpoint itself was the target of an impending giant raid, maybe even invasion! Sensing an opportunity to strike a blow against the giants while simultaneously making a name for himself, he hurried to the city.

The Festival The Swallowtail Festival was a lively scene. Colorful performers and wares dotted the square, and the general hubbub of revelry, shopping, and sundry other exciting pastimes were bracing for the young dwarf. Even the liveliest celebrations at the Underhall were never this bright and chaotic. There was drinking, yes, but the loud voices and boisterous contests would have shocked the staid elders. Through the seething ocean of the festival, the four and a half feet of bearded steel that was Urko wandered happily, finally stepping up before the strongman's tent. "Ladies and Geeeeeentlemen, step right up! Test your might against Dirkoth the Magnificent! Can you best the man who has wrestled giants and sparred with ogres?!" The barker's litany washed over the crowd, and as Urko watched, a number of large young men climbed into the ring only to be quickly dispatched by the hulking brute and his formidable mustache. Finally, after the challengers were sent packing with a small consolation prize, the dwarf stepped forwards. "So, do ye need me to take off th' armor? Or do ye think ye can handle me with it on?" Flexing his muscles for effect, Dirkoth the magnificent grinned and waved away the barker. "No! I vill handle zis leetle man viz his armor or no!" Nodding in appreciation, Urko handed his axe and shield to the barker and climbed into the ring. ------ A few hours later, the dwarf made his way out of the Festival Square. A few bruises and cuts on his knuckles were entirely unnoticed as he felt the comforting weight of new coins in his pouch. Apparently there were few dwarves in Sandpoint, and Dirkoth the Magnificent was newly informed as to the martial prowess of the Folk of the Underhalls. After Dirkoth, many others had wanted a chance, and all of them had failed. The last one, though, he had been a tough one. Moved like a snake, and if it weren't for the ol' trick elbow it'd have been a tough escape from that arm-lock. Pleased with himself and enjoying the afterglow of a good afternoon's exercise, the dwarf's eyes lit on a sign he had been looking for. Well, he had been looking for a sign like this. A large cockerel was pictured with its claw up, ready to come to blows with a pair of belligerent looking oxen. Below it was written in gold(ish) script: The Cock and Bullocks. With a snort of laughter, the dwarf pushed through the doors, ready to commit some serious revelry.

Interesting point Mystic, but thankfully one that won't apply to my more modestly intelligent character until I gain a few levels and start dropping a few skill points in linguistics.

I'm going to call it a night and get some sleep in a minute (a bit sleep deprived right now), but I'm also fairly new to this part of Golarion. I'll be doing some reading tomorrow, but am I correct in understanding that "common"/Taldan is the defacto main language around Magnimar and Sandpoint? I'll get elven as well for free because of my race, which (under my current plan for stat allocation) would give me one bonus language because of a high INT, probably Varisian or some language that might be spoken by people with trade or cultural links to Magnimar.
