Yeah, Hydra, I was thinking along the same lines, being the conflicted nonhuman monster hunter. I'm still debating the extent of what she understands about herself. But X Men isn't too far off.

Yup, there is. There was in 3.5 too, if I recall, but I never got to play it in that system.

Though it sort of shares concept niches with Inquisitors, it's still interesting.

But that archetype does have spells. Interestingly enough, like Falconer, Urban Ranger is compatible with Trapper - meaning it's perfectly okay to have both in the same class progression. They change different class features.

So I'm having trouble making up my mind about the archaeologist/oracle class levels. They both have such awesome stuff... and while I have plot tidbits to make sense of where the oracle comes from, they could happen at different times in her life so they aren't sticking me with a specific timeline for which classes when. I dunno how it's going to work out yet.

So is Gav... 3/4/CR+1 = ECL 8? Or did that template not end up having an adjustment? I've lost the link you showed me.

Aeternis, we still need to talk about noble lineage, and where her other ancestry comes into the picture. I haven't had a chance to glance through the race builder again yet, I've just been too scatterbrained to check my first impressions against logic.

In Pathfinder, I find it's generally better to stick with one class, because the things you get increase in power as you get to higher levels of one class. But that's just my opinion. Multiclassing is in there for a reason.

The template is CR+1. It had better be, because I was the one who pruned it until it was.

Yes, well. The oracle makes the noble blood infinitely more interesting. The mix makes her more useful when dealing with unknown elements, which I expect is rather the norm for monster hunters.

I'm working on Mina's true (fey) form, in spite of not expecting any of you to see it for a long time, and oddly enough if I use the more evil tendencies of fey in the bestiary, the best pictures are things flagged as vampires. This amuses me.

Aeternis, any thoughts on how you plan to toss us all together? I'd like to know what I should be preparing as the story leading her to that point.

That's what I understood.

The plan was to start in the Capitol. I had a few convergence ideas based on what I know now about characters:

• Gavril and Carramina meet when the same group of street thugs in Gav's neighborhood catch both of their ire. Gav is a sort of obligate vigilante, and Carramina is explicitly prone to vigilantism. It seems apparent to me that Gav will want access to more skill-sets than he and his little shadow have between them, if he's going to try anything big (like finding and coronating a new monarch).
• Carramina, new to the city, slips up and gets on the radar of paladins and monster-hunters, and Gavril's mostly-empty building proves a good hiding place. More likely in this case it would be Cordula who discovered the uninvited tenant.
• I will probably come up with at least one more, but these two were my first thoughts.

Alternately, we can start in a brief excursion by Gav and Cordula (for a purpose to be later discussed) into a wilder area of the world, and have the opening meeting happen there, then return the camera to the Capitol so a next move can be devised.

"Heirloom" item choices are done for everyone. Which item you pick tells me something about your character's family, some of which I will then relate back to you. Mind you, you won't get the complete picture.

Paladins are surprisingly sneaky when they want to be...

Well there are a number of villages, both around the Capitol and far-flung. There are also a number of nobles' mansions (still in use near the Capitol, mostly abandoned or repurposed farther out) with libraries that might contain books that would be otherwise hard to come by. There are also the ruins of several fortresses that were destroyed in the Wars, which might hold useful treasure, dangerous monsters, or valuable information. It all depends on what you're looking for. That's to say nothing of the probability that a royal bloodline would be found well away from the Capitol - one closer would be more likely to have been already found, either by forces wishing to stamp them out during the Wars or forces wishing to crown a monarch.
