Remember also that a magic weapon needs to have at least a +1 enhancement bonus before it can have a special ability. That means a weapon with a +1 special ability and a +1 enhancement bonus (e.g. the least expensive combination for a magic weapon with a special ability) would have the market value of a +2 weapon: 8000g + the cost of the masterwork weapon. It is important to remember though the "bonus" of special abilities (+1 for flaming, +3 for keen, +5 for vorpal, etc.) is only for determining the total modified bonus (and thus the cost), not the enhancement bonus of the weapon.

An interesting exception to this rule is the Amulet of Mighty Fists, a wondrous item that applies enhancement bonus and/or special abilities to the wearer's unarmed attacks. It specifically states that an amulet of mighty fists does not need to have a +1 enhancement bonus to grant a special ability.
