Collaboration, Accessibility, Community, and Equity

Collaboration, Accessibility, Community, and Equity (CACE; pronounced case).

RPG Crossing is proud to announce the formation of a new taskforce to promote inclusivity and fairness, diversity, and equity, and to make the site a more welcoming refuge from the tribulations of the mundane.

While the formation and work of the CACE taskforce is only just beginning, we wanted to alert the greater community of the upcoming opportunity to join the taskforce and help shape the policy and procedures for the site while creating a more harmonious and attentive community. We want our community members to feel welcomed and supported and have the tools necessary so that they can continue to succeed at what we do best here, telling great stories.

This change is not going to be without great effort, but we believe that our growing community is poised to lead the way toward change for the better. Equity gaming starts with how we work together and rise to meet the standards and values of our diverse community. In the past the site has taken a hands-off approach to the growing diversity of our player base, and we have experienced lapses in policy as a result. We hope that this work will help build increased trust, engagement, and devotion within our community.

In upcoming weeks, you will see announcements about joining working groups. We respect and value our volunteers' time and as such, the announcement of each group will include the specific area of responsibility, a timeline, and commitment expectations.

Our initial task is to recruit 5-7 members to create a "Best Practices and Resources for Inclusive Gaming," thread and aid in laying the groundwork for future endeavors. This group is expected to complete and publish the thread by December 31, 2023. Current expectations include reporting into the group once a week and volunteering at least 5 hours per month to research and discussion. This group will be chaired by wodine.

Though applications are not currently open for this taskforce, we wanted everyone to be aware of upcoming opportunities and we look forward to working together to make RPG Crossing the best that it can be.
