Plot Summary The Reach of Empire It sounded like such an easy job to begin with. To transport supplies on behalf of AbadarCorp to a colony established on the fog-shrouded world of Nakondis, inside the system known as the Vast. A mission that you had been recommended for at behest of an old friend of yours, Cedona, one of the scientists currently helping with the research and excavations ongoing on the planet. The reward for completing such a benign sounding task? A not-insubstantial fee of four thousand credits, certainly not for a crew like yourselves, with very little experience and even less contacts. A very generous reward for a mission that was guaranteed to go smoothly and with very little personal risk, what was there not to love about it? And to boot the chance to establish that all-important network of contacts for your fledgling careers. Of course, there was a catch. There is little known about the malign and sinister Azlanti Star Empire. Although both envoys of the Pact World and the Veskarium have, between themselves, attempted to negotiate with the Empire, such negotiations have always ended with violence and invariably the destruction of the envoy ships. The only thing that has been established about this enigmatic Empire is that their military strength is greater than the Pact Worlds and the Veskarium combined, and that the Aeon Throne will stop at nothing short of complete and utter subjugation of all who have the misfortune to cross them. Little do any of you realise when you accept this commission that the colony world of Nakondis has also attracted the attention of the Azlanti Star Empire for their own nefarious reasons and that your mission will bring you into direct conflict with the might of the Aeon Throne…. About the Game and the GM Hello everyone, I guess first and foremost a little background as to the origins of this game. For most of my time role-playing I’ve concentrated solely on D&D and it’s various different editions from the time I first got into tabletop role-playing games. Recently though, I’ve grown increasingly dissatisfied with D&D and the direction it appears to be heading in. I started researching different systems, which brings me to the Starfinder roleplaying game. I’ve increasingly become tired of just doing straight fantasy and nothing else. To me, the Starfinder setting is both fresh and interesting, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where we go with this. I’ll be honest, it is with some hesitation and no small trepidation I post this advert, but equally I am also very, very excited for this game. Stepping out of your comfort zone with something like this when all I’ve known is D&D is nerve-wracking, but it is time for me to make the jump. I will preface this and say that I am still very much learning the system. I will most likely make mistakes so go easy on me , but that all said this game is open to Starfinder veterans and newbies alike. To the veterans I will no doubt lean somewhat on you and your knowledge, but for people who, like me, are jumping into this system for the first time then I’d say let’s learn the system together. For the above reason, I am limiting available sources for character generation to make this as comfortable as possible for me, I really don’t want sources coming in from all over the place as I’d find that overwhelming to keep track of. For this game then I am restricting character generation sources to the Core Rulebook and the Character Operations Manual. If you don’t have access to these, there is an online SRD for Starfinder that can be found at the Archives of Nethys, however please take into account my restrictions above when coming up with a character for the game. So what can you expect from me and the game? Well, first and foremost as anyone who has been in a game with me can attest to, I am all about the story and character development. Expect me to provide equal emphasis to role-playing vs roll-playing. In terms of the tone of the game, if you like high science-fantasy space-opera, not too dissimilar to something you would see in Star Wars, that is very much the experience I will be striving to replicate here. As always, we will discuss specifics about character generation once I have made my final selections for the game, please find below specific details in regards to this. Ikr, I hardly ever see games advertised for this system which is a real shame and something I hope to redress the balance of. After diving into it, it’s very hard to even consider going back to D&D.

Appearance: Koji stands evenly at 6 feet tall and weighs in at 180 pounds. His hair ranges from chocolate brown to jet black and his eyes fluctuate among varying shades of amber. His skin is coppery in color. His taste in clothing tends to coincide with what he feels is an upscale version of what is appropriate for the situation. He is fond of wearing sunglasses.
Personality: Life is full of exciting possibilities and experiences as well as people to share them with and Koji intends to take advantage of this as much as possible. Not that he is exactly the bon vivant type, but maybe just a much more low-key version of the same. He is willing to help out when and where he can and values all true connections and friendships that he makes. Although there is also a certain slyness to his nature when it comes to business, but not one with any real malicious intent. Koji just likes to come out on top whenever the chance provides itself.
Background: Corporate greed was as much to blame for Koji’s rise as anything. Not that he was the typical corporate henchman, quite the opposite. It was the corruption of the corporations that kept the Lashuntas oppressed, or at least, held down from achieving their potential. So Koji’s parents believed that the key to a better life for each of their children lay in receiving the best education possible. Koji took this value of education to heart and applied himself diligently. It was in doing so that Koji developed his love of knowledge. As a teenager, Koji felt that technology was the future. It was a romantic involvement with a girl training in the mystic arts that opened his eyes to the other side of the coin of knowledge. The relationship did not last, but Koji’s interest in technomancy did. So with these foundations solidly laid, Koji has set out to achieve his destiny away from the corporate machinations of Castrovel.
Roleplaying Sample: There were two great obstacles to overcome in Koji’s life. Those who didn’t know his profession, and those who did. Those who didn’t, took him in mainly on physical appearance. What some called “cutesy” looks and “flashy” clothing were attributed to a role as a teenage musical group member. A Joybander. Those who did know his profession tended to err in the other direction and suspect Koji as having Smartest-person-in-the-room Syndrome. And while Koji was a brilliant physicist, he was not arrogant enough to fall into that trap. There was simply too much to learn, from others as well as the universe itself. Why waste time trying to prove himself right about everything, or anything, when he could sit back and learn something more instead?

In honesty, it was the hunger for knowledge that drove Koji more than anything else. Not a bad quality for a member of a telepathic race. An even better quality was the ability to keep a secret. One that could throw those eager to quickly mislabel Koji into a tale spin. Koji wasn’t just a scientist. He was also a technomancer. Able to not only gain information as an ordinary physicist, but through the means of magic as well. And not just gaining information, but learning how to use it to his advantage as well.

StarFinder tends to massive applicants. Unfortunately, the few games i've managed to get into all died within weeks of starting. I haven't played Pf2e, so not sure how close those are. There are differences from Pf1e, most i like, a few i don't. There are now a lot of books with extra races, classes and stuff in them. Character Operations Manual is one i don't have - what's in it?

Hey Cybersavant, one thing I was hoping to get out of this ad was a steady and reliable group to play Starfinder with, I will certainly put everything I have into making this a success, particularly since this is my own migration from a different system. The Character Operations Manual predominantly introduces the Biohacker, Vanguard and Witchwarper classes as well as a selection of new Archetypes.

@Mitsubachi, that all sounds great, I’ve linked a description of the various alignments here. It’s probably more information than you need but really does lay everything out. Don’t worry about character creation, I’m more than happy to walk everyone through what they need to know in terms of generating them.

In terms of ships, although I will provide a pre-generated starting ship for the game for the sake of getting us up and running faster, you will have the ability to upgrade and customise your ship as the game progresses onwards.

Adhara - WIP Name: Adhara Race: Android Class: Mechanic Theme: Tinker Alignment: Neutral Appearance: Adhara is an android of medium height and average build with pale, silvery skin with electric pink markings and long, lustrous purple hair. Her eyes glow an unnatural pink color, and her voice has a synthetic cadence to it that is unmistakably android. Adhara favors practical yet stylish clothing and takes a certain pride in her appearance that is unusual for one of her profession. Personality: True to her android nature, Adhara is stoic and quite closed off and unreadable to most people. Though she does experience emotions, she views them as a weakness and an impediment to rational behavior most of the time. As a result, she is very pragmatic and practical. She doesn't understand sentimentality and tends to look down on those who are ruled by their passions. Adhara is interested in the ways of organic beings, especially their humor, but she is notoriously bad at picking up on it and often takes dry humor or sarcasm literally, which can lead to awkward or amusing encounters. Bio: Amicable and agreeable, he is a leader that tries to uplift and bolster his his crewmembers through sheer hype and gaslighting, painting over his failures and playing up their successes. He is a man with his head in the stars, which traditionally makes him a liability in days of yore when their peoples were landbound, but as a space-farer, such insult loses it's edge.

He is the one who outreaches through his connections to find their team jobs, some of which fail and some of which succeed, but at least their space junker ship has enough resources to keep on sailing. He is glib, all smiles and razzle dazzle, but he has enough senses to keep his wits about him, and a swift pistol draw in case things go suddenly south.

In spite of his silver-tongued personna, his first and foremost goal is to see to the safety of his friends and those who have invested their trust into him. As such, he is a surprisingly uncanny strategist, investing every bit of his energy to ensure the survival of his crew.

He's... flawed. So very, very, flawed, and with a long rap-sheet of failure. But he somehow keeps himself, and their team together in spite of the chaos of an entire universe out to get them.

The Man Who Loved His Ship Too Much OUR SPECIAL DAY It was their monthly date-night, and a special 3 year anniversary between himself and his Lady Love, and so for this momentous occasion, a moon of Signus A-210Z4 was chosen for it's spectacular view, aside from it's dangerous environs. Highly toxic to human beings due to it's suplheric atmosphere, and a gravitation equaling 1.4 of earths, he was feeling the pressure of the planet's pull, but not one he couldn't handle with the help of his enviro-suit. A picnic has been set aside under the nose of The Nautalia ship, the checkered sheet he had laid down and the wicker basket filled with food slowly eroding in the atmosphere. Joseph himself sits in a light aluminum chair that resists the efforts of being eaten away, as he quickly pops open a beer bottle and feeds it into the input hole of his helmet, to have it filter with as little contamination as possible to drink at his own leisure. The glass of champagne he poured for the ship bubbles intensely in chemical reaction to the air. "I can't believe it's been so long, and here we are, still together, my darling," he smiles as he gazes upon the beautiful landscape of acid oceans and violently formed terrain, just as Sigma starts to rise in the horizon. "I thought I hit the big leagues when I became a Showman on Gamma Prime." His mind starts to wander into memory of bittersweet sorrow as he recollects the life of The Nautalia's previous Captain, as he takes a sizable quaff of his filtered beer, with hints of acidic tone. "But then YOU came into my life..." LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! The Joey Gee Show had been in production for under two years, but soon became a primetime slot among the System of Algo, become a solarity success centered on the planet of Gamma Prime. Popular in part due to his own ability as a performer, but mostly due his leadership to recruit some of the hottest, most talented crew, and due the unusual content he sought to tantalize his audiences. He refrained from politics, was heavy on the comedy, but he also wasn't afraid to use his power of personality to attract guests from all interesting walks of life and get the inside story, able to tell the tales no other media companies were able to dare. He wanted to get the inside scoop from celebrities and criminals from all walks of life, and that required an air-tight reputation. He was second only to that bastard Jaynis Leanryo of The Midnight Show, but he was well on his way to becoming Prime-Time King. He had an edge, after all. He knew how to talk to people, and he was willing to push boundaries. Tonight's guest was one of those ground-breaking interviews; The ferocious Captain Natalia of The Daedalus, whose exploits within the galaxy were quite renown. She had a reputation for being a highly successful space-pirate, and one who seemed as joie de livre about it as the ancient Errol Flynn, focused on the excitement and adventure of it all as opposed to being simply known as a dread pirate. Her spoils against other pirates and corporate entities were mostly donated to charities and organizations that brought good among the impoverished, making her a Robin Hood figure of sorts, and so she was a light of hope among an endless void of darkness within space. And he was the only one able to convince her to do an interview in spite of all the other networks wanting the inside scoop, though her demands for security bordered on insane. Undisclosed location. Bare minimal cameras. Untraceable signals. It was a tough order for Joseph to arrange, but this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Suck on that, Jaynis. Joseph had no expectations when it came to the unveiling of this highly anticipated show. He trusted in his own skills to razzle/dazzle,and improvise live with his guest of honor. What he had not anticipated was his immediate attraction. It was something his audience picked up on even before he even did, given his unusual demeanor. The private interview between he and the notorious space pirate had an amazing back and forth, filled aplenty with personal flirtation as they delved into the ins and outs of his most infamous guest, with the Dread Pirate Natalia playing well to her part as she answered the famous talk show host's questions, giving the best possible answers she could give to garner sympathy to her cause. He was playing into her ploy readily. What she did not anticipate however, is that his charms would influencer her as much as she tried to influence him. The result of their sheer, raw chemistry as they played back and forth on Live Galactalvision was pure ratings gold. To see the two celebrities, interact, and before a watching audience, fall in love with each other was thus far unprecedented. The Live Audience approval board lit up with ratings no other talkshow has ever seen, or ever has since as the two spoke intimately and unabashedly, and in the end, Mr. Joey Gee himself ended the show with a romantic sonnet from the late, great Sinatra from ages past. It was their most popular show to date. But it was also their last. Because, you see, the elaborate setup the dread pirate had requested was only meant to make it easier to rob the Midnight Show of all it's assets once the cameras stopped rolling. The plan was to get in and get out. However, the Dread Captain Natalia could not bring herself to leave her newest romantic interest behind. A HURRICANE ROMANCE What should have been a casual fling had proven so much more. It would seem the former Latenight Host was more than game to adapt to his new lifestyle, given his free-wheeling personality. And though he was considered "soft" initially, under the tutelage of his lover, he became as ever a ferocious pirate as any other. I fine pistolerro with training, but no type of warrior to write home about. A learned tactician when it came to guerilla warfare, though too weak for any "all in" gambits. His smooth talking and his former connections to crime syndicates had come in surprisingly handy in their space faring adventures, But the real star of the show was always Natalia. Their lives in the stars were filled with harrowing adventures and memonries, and it flashes before his eyes, a life filled with happiness and sorrows... ALWAYS WIP
