Yeohven: Fall from Grace Application Name: Anaina “Ana” Makaha Race: Human Class: Cleric Alignment: NG   Ana is tall for a woman standing at 5' 10”. She is of slender build (145 Lbs) with golden blonde hair down past her shoulders and emerald green eyes. On her forehead is an amber tattoo similar to an elongated flour-de-lis To Ana it symbolizes the unity of the Races. The Cleric of Eldath is 22 years old.   Bright yet sometimes impulsive the core of Ana's position is peace among all creatures. She is pleasant to those she does not know and always tries to make friends with everyone. Violence for her is always a last resort and this guides her every action. Background Title: The Peacemaker   On any clear day you will find the energetic Ana on the streets of her home, Ab’Cal. She was born and raised here in the capital city of Seth’elan and still lives with her two parents, Kele and Elika Makaha and her younger brother, Hoku. Life was always pleasant for the woman and she always made friends easily. The turning point of her childhood was when she came across a small group of Dwarven children at age 8. She had been just playing in the high grass near her home when they appeared out of nowhere. At first Ana was glad to have new friends, but soon they began to call her names; too-tall, small stuff and even ugly because she was not a Dwarf like them. Soon Ana began to cry and ran home to be comforted by her mother. She had learned first hand about racism. Since then it has been Ana's goal to never feel that way again, and to never let others feel like she had. To her, all creatures had a soul and all souls were equal; no one better than another just because of who they were. It became an obsession for her. At the age of 12 Ana was finally allowed to attend Bazaar with the family. She was thrilled at first with all the excitement of it. Soon she began to see new evidence of intolerance even in a place designed for fun. This only served to rekindle her preoccupation for peace among the races. It also proved to be an opportunity for her to speak with many others and share her belief. Year after year she made every effort to share her message of peace with others and the Sobrahn Bazaar was one of her best opportunities to do so. Now, at the age of 22, Ana feels that she may be ready to take her message beyond the gates of Ab’Cal.   1: How did you get here? To the Sobrahn Bazaar? By walking. 2: Why have you come? Ana always attends the Bazaar and has since age 12. It is here that she feels she can do the most good in helping others to see her own dream of peace. 3: When did it all start? At age 8 when Ana was treated unjustly by a small group of Dwarven children because she was another Race. 4: Who have you met along the way? Likely hundreds of people! That is what Ana does, she meets people. The young woman tries to make friends of everyone she meets. 5: What is the point? The age old question; what is the meaning of life. 42? Yes, but even more, it is to have all races live together in peace. 6: Where next? Having never left Abhain Calmir on her own, Ana is scared and anxious to take her message of peace out to the rest of the world. She especially wants to go to the Dwarven Republic of Diamhjart and the Elven Kingdom of Naofial. Seven Steps   BG 1: Ana was born and raised in Abhain Calmir. BG 2: Inspired by a traumatic event at age 8, what Ana wants most of all is Racial Peace. BG 3: Ana is energetic and friendly to everyone. BG 4: For the young woman, religion is a way to combat hatred. BG 5: She has never been away from home or out of the city alone.   Goal 1: Peace and racial equality. Goal 2: Have the PC reach level 10.   Secret 1: Someone within the Abhain Calmir city government is working with another race to try and start a war. Memory 3: Attending the Bazaar for the first time at age 12.   Personality: I can find common ground between the fiercest enemies, empathizing wilt them and always working toward peace. Bond: Everything I do is for the common people. Ideal: Charity. I always try to help those in need, no matter what the personal cost. Flaw: Once I pick a goal, I become obsessed with it to the detriment of everything else in my life.   Fear 1: Ana has a strong fear of heights. Fear 2: Failure. Character Application The Sea's Favorite Son Name Race Class Alignment Hometown Theme Sheet Connor Ordis Human Fighter/Sorc (Dragon) CG Issbas (?) 1 Link Background Narrative:   Connor was raised by his grandparents, in a fisherman's shack, with six other siblings. The home frequently smelled of fish and rain, his grandmother's oil paints, mud, rotting wood, and copper. His grandfather was the breadwinner in their home, still working as a fisherman in his advanced age, though by this point he was very good at what he did. For bedtime stories, his grandfather would tell them all grand tales of adventure and exploration in the time of his youth. Men and women who were now legends in their time, but were only just started when he was but a lad. One story he told over and over, was that of a legendary treasure he was privy to the location of made up of multiple sunken ships that all mysteriously sank in a corner of the ocean known as The Dark Waters. When his grandfather finally passed on, it was up to himself and his brothers to help provide for the family. His three other brothers took up fishing and sailor work to carry on in the memory of their parent. Connor, however, had more grand ideas. He planned to seek out that treasure his grandfather told them about, and use that to gain fame, fortune, and be able to provide for his whole family for years to come. Before he had passed, he had told Connor the exact location of The Dark Waters. He just needed a ship and crew brave enough, or dumb enough, to go there. His first outing as an adventurer was unlucky, to say the least. Hired to go and retrieve a stolen chest of goods, the Ranger that went with them followed the trail to a griffon's nest. They tried to sneak up to said nest, but Connor wasn't terribly gifted with a light step. The beast awoke and charged down Connor, badly clawing at him and nearly taking his life. The ranger, named Roan Tulos, managed to chase the creature off and get Connor bandaged well enough to survive the trip back to down. After that, whenever he re-told the story, everyone seemed enthralled with his story-telling. It helped that he had a wicked scar, healed in the shape of a claw, to add credibility to the tale. After that, he took it upon himself to learn to fight, and set off once more. This time with a mission to help with supporting a town that had dragon sightings near by. He arrived just a few days after the request, but by the time he got there, the town was already engulfed in flames. People screaming, homes burning, children crying at the top of their lungs. On horseback, Connor tried to direct folks as best he could, until he saw the dragon. An adult red dragon at least, spewing fire and seemingly circling over the town square. Where there stood a lone figure clad in dull grey armor decorated in strange markings. The figure threw out its hand and shot a burst of energy upward, seemingly trying to HIT the dragon. Connor spurred his horse towards the figure, trying to beat out the dragon before it could make another pass. Before the figure could attack again, he reached down, grabbed his outstretched arm, and hauled him up across the back of his horse, flying through the other end of town and away from the dragon. Or so he had hoped. The creature was rightly angered, and pursued them. "Why did you do that?" The figure said flatly, now noticing he had a metal mask on. "Because even fools deserve rescue from the jaws of death!" he shot back, taking a sharp turn and trying to throw off the winged beast. "I wanted it to take me." "Of all the ways to go" he shouted over the thunder of hooves and the roar of the dragon. "why d'you want to be eaten by a dragon?!" "It's what I deserve." "Not today my new friend!" Connor said with a grin as they ended up in a burning dead-end. The dragon landed and took a deep breath, letting out a deafening roar. His horse bucked and threw them both down onto the ground and bolted past the dragon. The beast slunk in closer, seemingly intent on eating the armored figure rather than simply melting him. Rolling to his feet first, Connor drew his shortsword and charged forward. In his adrenaline-fueled panic, he had tapped into a source of arcane power and channeled a spell into his attack. There was a thunderous 'BOOM' as the air shook around them, startling the dragon. That gave the masked figure a chance to let loose an attack of his own, smashing a symbol-covered hammer into its skull, causing a similar cacophonous 'BOOM'. That 2nd one rattled it, and was about to re-double its attack, when a hail of arrows rained down across the creature's back and wings. That was enough to cause it to take off before it could take any serious harm, carrying it off to mountains visible to the west. Connor stood there, panting, feeling a tingle under his skin. 'What... What did I just do?' he thought to himself, before the figure spoke up again. "You have power." "Is.. Is that what ya call it?" he replied with a labored chuckle. "Magic power. A latent talent. You use your blade as the casting medium." He was silent for a moment longer. "I suppose you expect me to thank you for saving my life when I wished to end it?" "That'd.. That'd be a great start!" Conner shot back, catching his 2nd wind and heading out of the still-burning town. "Generally that's what you do when people risk their life for yours." "I didn't ask you to do so. I wanted to die." "Why?" The masked figure went quiet for a moment. "...I lost everything. I no longer wish to live." Connor gave him a slap on the shoulder. "Sorry to say this, but you aren't unique in that regard, friend. Everyone's lost someone. But instead of killing yourself in a gruesome way, how about you find some new goal? You're clearly pretty strong. Got some crazy magic of your own. Maybe you can teach me what you know?" The metal mask turned to face him. "My power is different from yours. I can't teach you." "How d'you know? Ever had a student before?" "...No. But-" "Perfect!" He declared, patting his shoulder. "Then how about we clear out, you come with me to collect my pay, and we can get to the lessons." He stopped when they reached the outskirts where survivors were being collected and fire-teams were being organized. "I'm Connor, by the way. What's your name?" The figure was quiet for a long moment. "...Why are you doing this?" "Because everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Though I doubt anyone's gonna forgive ya as easily as I am for drawing the attention of a dragon.'" "...Daespar." "Daespar? Sounds Elven." "It's.. close enough. Deep south." "Well then Daespar, let's head out into the sunset, collect my cash, and find a place for us to get to training!" He grinned and shook his shoulders, whistling for his horse as the townsfolk were starting to recognize the masked figure and advancing towards them in anger.

Elzair Idhrenor Elzair Idhrenor Name: Elzair Idhrenor Race: Wood Elf Class: Wu Jen Mystic Alignment: Chaotic Good Age: 428 Appearance: Elzair hasn't donned his battle armor for centuries. After all he had no need for it anymore, so he substituted protection for comfort with his recognizable long green robe by which he was known throughout his village. Everyone who knows him remembers his weathered face as always cheerful, always smiling but also younger looking than he actually was. It was only when you looked deep into his dark green eyes that you could see the old soul behind them. His once golden blonde hair is now slightly faded and more grey than it used to be, as it usually is with old age, but his stature is still firm and strong as though his spirit preserved it. But times may soon come when he will have to leave behind his hermit's robe to once again wield his trusty old longsword and wear his green caped studded leather battle armor. Personality Despite Elzair's self imposed seclusion in a small wooden cabin a few hundred meters away from his home village the elves that live there always feel a friendly warmth each time he wanders into town. As one of the elder elves of this forest settlement Elzair is looked up to as a wise and experienced grandfather figure who is very hard to dislike. Should you ask any elf in the village about the old man they will tell you he is a kind and gentle soul that they could hardly imagine would even hurt a fly. Few could remember his somewhat less than fortunate past, but all knew it didn't matter because they could always count on the wise man's advice when they needed it most. Whatever is left of his youth recklessness, impatience and battlelust now seems to be buried away deep within him, if it still exists at all, but no man can run from his past forever, not even one with mystical powers. Background title: Hermit Background: For Elzair there was nothing scarier than the idea of spending the rest of his life in his home village. He could not begin to comprehend how all these ordinary elves could spend their entire lives in such a small forest village when there was such a big world out there, just waiting to be discovered. The moment he reached adulthood he was gone and he had no intention of ever coming back. He was finally free, so why would he go back to the place that confined him? No, he was never coming back, there was nothing there for him. The outside world proved exciting at first. The thrill of adventure and battle slowly turned him into a skilled fighter and honed his skill with the blade. He was young and enthusiastic but also reckless and impatient. He became a mercenary fighting for coin and glory, and he had long forgotten the wood elf ways. One day his travels led him to the wide open rift of elemental fire. A battle long and unending left him dying on the battlefield floor. Wounded, he sat there gazing into the endless expanses of the rift as time itself felt still and unmoving. And something in him awakened. His dark brown eyes turned light green and he felt a new kind of force, a power not native to this world. The dark red battlefield slowly faded black and Elzair fell unconscious into a deep sleep. Upon waking Elzair found he had new volatile powers he could hardly ever understand. Elzair's essence was imbued with the power of the rifts and he could now summon powerful elements and bend space itself to wield rift magic, a thing he never expected he could do. But he had no true understanding of it, or how it worked. For him it was just a tool to use to make himself stronger and more powerful in combat. And so he did. He used his magic on a whim, fueling its fires with rage and bloodthirstiness rather than calm thoughtfulness. He abused his newfound power to gain money and fame, as he had no idea of the cost it would bear. A man's magic is no different than the man himself, and Elzair was as unpredictable as it gets. The greed and rage blinded him to the truth that he wasn't in control of his magic but rather that it had control over him and one day, he crossed the line. His unpredictable magic led to him doing an act of evil so twisted and cruel that even his flawed sense of morality awakened and he fell to the ground broken and regretful. He didn't deserve this power. There he was finally, after decades of wandering, back at the place he hated the most, his birthtown. Elzair secluded himself to a small cabin right outside of town so that he could try to understand his magic, so that he could grasp its meaning and understand why it was given to him of all people. He put down his sword and armor, leaving his warrior days far behind him. For decades he lived secluded, trying in vain to understand the meaning of life and making no progress whatsoever in his understanding of rift magic. It was only by chance that Elzair learned what it was all about. When he finally gave up trying to find a higher meaning and turned to the people around him, his own kin, he realised that he could never achieve enlightenment if he kept himself hidden and his feelings buried deep inside. Instead he turned to the people, the townsfolk, his friends, and found true happiness and in time.. maybe even absolution. He was no longer Elzair the Reckless, he donned a new outfit and became Elzair the Kind. Spiritual enlightenment was followed closely by a greater understanding of rift magic and mystical powers. Throughout a century Elzair studied and meditated to deepen his understanding of the universe and magic. And in this time the townsfolk had begun to see him not as a secluded hermit but rather a wise mentor and valuable friend. His new calm changed his magic and in place of furious fire different powers had taken root. He gained insight in the human mind and telepathy as well as a fundamental understanding of the human being and the ability to sense magic, rift magic in particular. He mostly hid his powers as he stood guard over the village, swearing never to abuse his magic ever again. But soon a new power awakened in the village, in the form of a young enthusiastic hunter, and Elzair felt a familiar magic sorrounding his soul. Perhaps he should keep a closer eye on him, after all there is something about the boy that made him recall his younger days. His life may have been given a new meaning yet.   1: How did you get here? "How did I get here?", Elzair takes a brief pause, "I don't know, son. By foot, by sea, by carriage, it doesn't really matter. The tides of life have led me here for purposes beyond my comprehension, the only thing that really matters is what I do with the time I have left." 2: Why have you come? The old man chuckles and looks at the young elf he entered the tavern with. "I guess... Nostalgia." 3: When did it all start? "Oh my son, it started way before you were born I suppose." Elzair smiles and looks the barkeeper straight in the eye. "But it was only recently that I really started to live." 4: Who have you met along the way? "Finally you have asked a question that really matters, my friend", said Elzair with a friendly smile on his face, "Its the little people, the ordinary folk that live in these parts that we met thus far. In no ways exceptional, yet every single one brought a smile to our faces and warmth to our hearts." He looks at the barkeep, "And that is what keeps me going, friendship for which there is no substitute." 5: What is the point? Elzair laughs strongly then taps the barkeeper on the shoulder perhaps even a little bit too hard "Well aren't you philosophical today, huh?" He sits back down and settles on the bar table as the barkeeper recovers from the somewhat unnecessarily strong shoulder tap "There is no real point I suppose. But it's the opportunity to be a part of the lives of those around you that gives reason to my existence, friend." 6: Where next? "Hmm.. I dont know.." Elzair thinks to himself then gently grabs the barkeeper by the shoulder as if they were old friends and not merely new acquaintances. "Wherever life may take us, my friend. But I do hope someday it leads me back here, it was very much a pleasure talking with you.", he says as he puts on his cape and signals his friend in the back of the bar that it was time to go, "Until we meet again, friend"
