![]() Hoping this game picks up. The system is really clean and the setting has a lot of depth. |

Updated my app.
Mostly just fixed typos and rephrased some sentences. Added a few sentences where I felt they were needed. |

I'd be interested! WWN seems like an interesting mix of Traveller and OD&D that I've wanted to try for a while. I have and have read WWN but haven't played yet.
I have free time now I'm retired and 2 posts a week is fine with me. Prospective character : Ophorio Maglan, roguish swordsman; black sheep lesser scion of a minor noble family in exile after one scandal too many. A life dissipated in debauchery and casual violence has left him dispirited and seeking a purpose. I liked playing Ch'watikk, a Phanaton (a sort of flying squirrel raccoony critter) druid in a D&D game on rpg.net. For a roleplaying sample, I like this exchange, where he tries to convince an unhappy guard to help them: the four posts starting here. I'm also fond of a speech he made to tell the humans about his religion of sorts - propitiating Squirrel Cthulhu: it's here.

Name: Horace Overhill
Description: A tough but simple warrior. He feels responsible for the safety of the people he calls his companions. He is motivated to find a new/safe home for his people but does not know how or even where to start. Last edited by Sorcerious; Apr 10th, 2022 at 09:36 PM. |

Do you imagine chargen being fairly by-the-book or are there house rules you are planning to use? Attribute rolling is what I see get tweaked the most.

I'll be doing character generation pretty much exactly by the book. Players will choose for themselves between the standard array and rolling for stats.

Apologies for the delay. I had a think about this over the weekend, and briefly looked through the rulebook. I'm not familiar with WWN, so may need some advice on how to bring this character concept to life with building an actual character.
Character concept As a rough concept, I'm thinking a kind of semi-noble in search of ancient knowledge / treasure as a kind of archaeologist / treasure hunter. Not in the 'everyone wants loot' way, but more dedicated, as it were. Very broadly, somewhat like Indiana Jones/Lara Croft/Daniel Jackson from Stargate? In terms of the archetype, I would be aiming for cunning/wise mage adventurer. Background Lorilana Rosenhart. Lorilana is the daughter of a noble family (or if not nobility, then what might exist of high society) who abandoned her family and that life some years ago. Her older sister, Clarissa, disappeared when Lorilana was young, apparently leaving on some undefined quest in search of long-forgotten ancient knowledge. Lorilana waited until the right time, and then threw off the yolk of her family and went in search of her sister. Over the years of searching, her motivation seemed to change, or at least evolve, and now Lorilana searches for any kinds of ancient, hidden and long-forgotten knowledge and treasures that she can find, hoping that maybe one day, some will lead to her sister. A sample of writing/roleplaying can be found in this post.

Out of curiousity, when do you expect applications to close? The Ad doesn't say.

Same question as Effete.
As for MercurialJack, what's nice about WWN is that there are multiple ways to build the same concept. A cunning mage is very doable. First step is to decide whether you want to be a full mage (presumably a High Mage, maybe an Elementalist) or a Partial Mage + another partial class. That just depends on your desired ratio between magic and mundane. Partial Expert would be a fairly clean fit. A Vothian Thought Noble could also work, but I don't think those are in the free rules. As for skills, some ranks in Magic, some ranks in Know, and everything on top of that is frosting on the cake. If you go High Mage, the Arcane Lexicon art might be a good fit. For a Thought Noble, Iconography would work well for an archaeologist. As for foci, Specialist (Know) could represent the Lorilana's scholarship. Anyway, very doable. Sounds like a fun concept. |

I added a little more to the setting notes for those interested.
@Effete it is a while from now, but that's around when my school exams end; I'll be able to start/run the game without juggling too many other things.
