I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted. I've been a GM for Stars Without Number but never officially played a WN game, and I've been sitting on the Worlds book for a while. That said, I'm unsure of my availability right now. Can you confirm your intended posting rate going forward?

Our current posting rate is once per week, which seems to be pretty solid for the group. That said, if you're worried about stretching yourself too thin then you should refrain from joining this game. I know how tempting it can be and I'd prefer that you didn't burn out trying to keep up.

That goes for any other of you potential players, too.

As a current player, I recommend this game. Especially if someone wants to experiment in a sandbox environment where many of the plots are character-led.
@HotsuSama, the core mechanics between SWN and WWN are so similar that you already know 80% of them based on your GMing experience. There's no space ship and there's magic instead of psionics, but almost everything else is the same. If anyone is new to WWN, we can offer as much (or as little) help as you want. The current team of 3 PCs is small but well-rounded. Any sort of spellcaster would be welcome (High Mage, Elementalist, Necromancer), but the sandbox nature of the game means that there's no real harm in two skillsets overlapping if you want to play something else. |

This seems really cool. I’ve been wanting to play in a WWN game for a while so I’d love the opportunity. I’ll get an application ready.

Concept:
I’ve got a couple of concepts I’m interested in but I think for now I’ll go with High Mage/Elementalist who wants to one day create a sanctuary for magical research and development to help all of The Red Peninsula. Another character I’m toying around with would be a Vowed of some sort who’s goal would be to take out evil god’s or ones that interfere with humanity too much. If you want to see more on that one let me know. Writing Sample A man emerges from the mouth of a cave. Hand making a visor over his eyes and squinting into the sunlight. A scowl on his face. Months spent training with that woman, and what do I have to show for it… nothing. Thrown out of her hermitage with practically nothing but my minor spell book, tunic and pants. All that time spent apprenticing and almost nothing to show for it. All because I wanted to use some Elemental magic to augment the High Magic she taught me. When she came to the town two years ago, getting supplies to set up her space out here, everyone thought she was crazy and it turns out they may have been right. Well… I guess she’s not crazy, just too dogmatic on her stance that High Magic is the only real Magic. Except there is obviously more out there than just what she wants to teach. How long until she finds a new student? He thinks back to their first meeting. Him delivering some items and groceries for spare change. He did odd chores for her for months to help her set up. Then she took him on as an apprentice. The scowl slowly turns into a neutral expression. Then a small smile Ok then... I’ll show her and her teachers and everyone else. There is a place in the world for all of this magic. Things to learn from one another. Magic is a tool like any other, and we have to use it like that. Thanks, Teacher, for giving me the skills and education I needed to be better. I’ll put them to good use and make you proud one day. He puts his hand down, then begins to walk away. He chooses a direction at random and walks on into adventure. Last edited by Aegis; Feb 23rd, 2023 at 11:40 AM. |

I need more time to actually do an RP sample and smooth out the mechanics, but I have a concept at least: a charismatic 'barbarian' who once led a dangerous cult and is now trying to reform / reassess themselves in relative anonymity.

I like it. Take your time
![]() Have you considered the Cult of Alashea? Debauchery, hypnosis, and sacrifices to the Sorcerer-Queen. Lots of fun. There are many things in this world to form a cult around, though, so if you have a different idea for your former devotion, go crazy.

Concept: Three - A Partial Expert/ Healer xenobloded designed to follow orders and very lost
Three looks something like a pretty doll might look. She has long black hair and wide round blue eyes. Indeed her eyes are a bit too big and her face has a too peaceful expression. Then you notice that she isn't breathing, and in fact does not eat nor sleep. She is a creation made to mimic humanity. She is often asking things like, "What do you desire?" or "How can I help you?" and is usually more than capable of helping whether it be simple labor or magical healing. The truth though is that Three is lost, her creators are gone, and all of her sisters are missing. What she most wants is to find her sisters hopefully in working and functional order. Sample: Three swept her hair back and re-affixed her bow, she brushed down her outfit and made sure she was pristine and in full working order. Senses deep inside her checked through all her processes and then her emotional heuristics. There were a few minor injuries, but she was 98.34% functional and thus was in good enough condition to begin her day. She was looking for her sisters, but she'd been doing that for years and years and so her first process of the day was to check in with the innkeeper where she was staying. "Good morning, do you require assistance?" They did and she performed that assistance then moved on to her next task. She went from the Inn to the next building in town she asked about her sisters and then, of course, "Is there anything I can aid you with today?" There was and so, Three went to it. Someday she'd find people who might be willing or able to help her, but at least in the meantime she could perform one of her functions. She just wished her sisters were here, she missed them so...

Ysolde: You're in, welcome to the game! Just talk to Tecumseh, player of our current Healer, before making your character to ensure that you both have distinct roles.

@Ysolde, my character is more offensively-oriented than many healers. Her arts are more about dealing damage and (eventually) damage avoidance.
If Three selects arts that are more about actual health and well-being - like Far Healer, Healer's Eye, Purge Ailment, Refined Restoration, etc. - then we'll complement each other nicely. |
