Of course, do what you want with a character build, but if you really like Harbinger (and I do!) then some contortions can make it work very well for a ranged build. Solar Wind and Tempest Gale are ranged specific disciplines A ranged archetype is: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative...pes/hawkguard/ A harbinger normally has these: Cursed Razor, Riven Hourglass, Scarlet Throne, Shattered Mirror, and Veiled Moon. But you could take the https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative...-regional-any/ trait and swap one of those for Solar Wind or Tempest Gale. With the Feat Tax Fix, you reduce the startup costs to get a functioning archer. Last, if you make your Human a Small character, and go with the Ravenlord archetype, you get a flying battle buddy you can ride as a 4th level Ravenlord. Flying archers are special. Last, by stuffing archery feats in one greater stance, and non-archery feats in another, you can play both sides of the table. Combining those ideas, if you do 4 levels of Ravenlord then a 1 level dip in Hawkguard, you get a lot to boost a ranged build. - Your initiator level in the Hawkguard disciplines would be your non-hawkguard levels / 2, + your hawkguard levels. So (2(npc levels)+4(Ravenlord levels)/2 + 1 = 4th. So you could get some ranged feats and abilities, plus a bunch of 1st and 2nd level maneuvers to round out gaps in archery. It is a fair deal. An archery oriented prestige class is: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative...enix-champion/ Last edited by CatCanCook; Dec 16th, 2022 at 01:40 AM. |

With all the spirits running around, tons of dead and blooming magic - I see an abundant resource that could be tapped - undead for cheep free unending labor and military might. Hmmm if allowed may go with arcane build

All right. Thanks. For some reason I keep being drawn to a thrown weapon build but I don't think it will be viable. I will look at the ones you suggested and see if I like the idea of it.
Also, are you able to take 2 of your campaign traits? The way it is written seems yes but I wasn't sure if that overrode the normal only 1 from each category. |

Hey Cat,
Interesting idea, definitely interested and gives me a chance to rework another character i made for another post apocalyptic game which didn't make it off the ground. Nix. Post Apocalyptic Scavenger/Street Rat Has anyone picked the Paranoid Survivalist trait yet? if not can i claim that one while i look through the house rules and see what i can come up with, not familiar with the path of war system yet |

That is what I thought. One final question, for Rad Resistant/ Fool Hardy Explorer, would we be able to reform the radioactive part of the bat into other weapons of similar mass if we took the necessary crafting skills at some point in the game?

Thinking Stalker would be the best fit at lvl 3. In the mean time i might go commoner route for first 2 levels.
I assume that would get me 2 feats, 2 traits and 1 campaign trait to pick to flesh out the character at this point? How do Styles and Stances work? the stalker mentions access to manuevers from 6 styles..do you get access to all and can mix and match or do you need to pick one style? is there a way to change a style from the class list? i'm tempted by Primal Fury but its not on the list unless i use a archetype to change but that change doesn't match the stealthy type Are mutations something we get to pick at the start? the original Nix was a lycanthrope (panther). obviously can't be one of those but i would like to play up the savage, animalistic side of her character as the scavenger on the outskirts of the community. she spends her time pushing the boundaries of the territory to learn to survive and find things out there that might be of use, not the most social person, much more used to animals and being alone but she is secretly a house cat and longs to be a part of the community, just hard considering her nature and afflictions. I was thinking if Mutations are allowed i'd go Ghoulish. explains why she is on the outskirts but she has skills and uses to the tribe so she tolerated. |

Dylan,
You are using the term "style" incorrectly. You mean disciplines. (Styles are something else, usually associated with Monks.) Quote:
Please read this page first before you ask me basic questions: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative...stems-and-use/ Quote:
Also, it is feat intensive, but anyone can get access to any part of the Path of War disciplines with the Martial Training feat chain: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/alternative...ning-i-combat/ -- look at MT I, II, III etc. Given that there is the Greater Stance mechanism exists, one could have a stack of Martial Training feats in one Greater Stance, and you still get to play around with different buildouts in the other Greater Stances. Otherwise, the concept as adapted to this world seems fair. |

I updated the table of player - character statuses, in the 2nd post of this thread. So far we are at 1 character accepted, 1 character half-done, and 7 people expressing interest with some general thoughts ongoing as to class and build.
Please converse here with questions on builds. I can answer questions about rules, and you all can help each other with ideas and tuning up your builds, help each other find options, etc. The game has a folder, here: https://www.rpgcrossing.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20248 - and I'm starting to fill in with a map, the starting scene, an OOC thread, etc. More details will keep appearing. Within Topanga Canyon there are a variety of smaller settings, which will include the various homes from which your characters came from. Last edited by CatCanCook; Dec 17th, 2022 at 11:41 AM. |
