![]() Name: Mortis Draconum Race: Kobold Class: Wizard/necromancer Background: Sage Alignment: lawful evil Personality traits: 1 I use words to convey the impression of great erudition 2 I…speak…very…slowly…when talking…to…idiots…which…almost…everyone is…compared…to me. Ideal: power. Knowledge is the path to power Bond: I have an ancient text that holds terrible secrets that must not fall into the wrong hands Flaw: I speak without really thinking through my words, invariably insulting others Appearance: Mortis wears black robes with a fine belt he got off a halfling. He covers his face with the skull of a baby dragon that was killed by adventurers. He carries a staff with a coiled handle and a sculpted demon head on top. His scales are a light green, and His eyes glow with arcane power. His lizard familiar, a bearded dragon named Calesi likes to sit on his shoulder. Personality: Mortis is highly intelligent, and curious almost to a fault. He often risks his life to observe dangerous creatures or phenomena, but it hasn’t killed him yet, though a few others haven’t been so lucky, but it was a small price to pay for knowledge. He is constantly frustrated by the small, ignorant minds that surround him, and he has little patience for them. If he didn’t need them for cannon fodder, he probably wouldn’t even bother. Once he creates his army of undead minions, things will be much simpler. Bluescale yuk: There is a bluscale sorceress named Silverwing who Mortis envies greatly. Despite his intellect and hard work, her god given magical talent always outshines him. Backstory: Mortis had always been…different than his clan mates in the Redscale Colony. More…evolved, refined, insightful, intelligent, superior. He had always admired Silverwing’s magic, and it didn’t take long for that admiration to turn to coveting it for his own. Sadly, he lacked her gods given power, but fortune smiled on him. One day a human wizard attacked the colony, a necromancer with a small horde of undead. He was defeated, his minions slain. Everyone celebrated their victory, but what Mortis noted was how much of a fight one necromancer with undead warriors was able to put up. The warriors picked through the human’s possessions, taking coins, potions, and other trinkets, but they discarded the greatest prize: The wizard’s spell book which Mortis was able to sneak away with. He taught himself to read by studying the book, no easy task, but he was up to the challenge. After countless hours of diligent practice and repetition, he managed to cast his first spells. What Silverwing possessed through providence, Mortis earned through hard work, talent, and diligence. He has put his knowledge and magic to good use, participating in the colony’s defense, and researching arcane secrets to benefit the community, but his main goal has always been himself. One day he wishes to create an undead army, become the leader of the colony, or perhaps found another one, and attain greatness. The dead can mine without rest. They can guard without distraction. They are sustained without food or water. They are the perfect labor force. Mortis just needs to get stronger. RP Sample:

Such a great and crazy concept! I would've applied here in a heartbeat if I could! Sadly my hands are full in RPGs and RL monsters. Wish you the best!

Wow what a fun campaign concept. Let me see if anything comes to me, cuz I'd definitely love to throw my hat (skull helm?) in the ring
Edit: I came up with a character I love, it was surprisingly easy, I suppose that's in the nature of a good prompt.
I look forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with! Last edited by squirmonkey; Mar 6th, 2023 at 01:43 AM. |

Character Name: Old Eejit
![]() Class & Subclasses: 1 Barbarian/3 Druid Personality: Old Eejit is...old. Maybe as old as the Dragon Queen herself, or so he would claim. And claim a lot, he did."I was there when Klauth himself was birthed. Swaddled him first, I did. Cute as a button." But who was there to debunk his claims? There was very fewer older with any evidence to the contrary, and those who were older, well, simply didn't care. The Old E was also a stickler for tradition, something these damn hatchlings didn't respect in the slightest! "Back in my day, we were proper Kobolds! We worshipped the queen from the moment we woke to when we went to sleep, and them some! Why, if ya didn't dream of the queen ya got 50 lashes! We had Dreamwatchers!....Yes...thats what we called them. Watch ya while ya slept. See if ya talked about the queen. Appearance: Given his age, it was a miracle that Old Eejit was still mobile. Yet with stick in hand, we was still as swift as a Kobold a tenth his age. With advanced years also came gray, flowing locks, cascading down from his crown and maw. This would be something E attributes to a healthy diet of ground pegasus bones when he was younger. Another thing yet to be disproved. His scales on the other hand, were not so lush. They were now the colour of faded brick, but rest assured they were once as crimson as the blood of Tiamat in his youth... Bluescales, yuk: What did the Bluescales do to you personally? Well what didn't they do!? Those devious, untrustworthy, blue menaces are responsible for famine, drought, thunderstorms, stubbing your toe, hiccups, losing your keys...Everything! Or so you would believe after a minute in Old Eejit's company. The truth is (and not in a million and two years would he admit it) there was nothing specific that the Bluescales had ever done to him personally. It was just built into him. Background: Old Eejit, his real name was long forgotten, was the tribes historian. Ironic for someone who couldn't even remember their own name. But as the oldest, it was his job to keep the records of the tribe and all their misadventures. But here in lies another issue. Old Eejit was not especially good with words. Oh saying them was fine. They'd fall out one after the other and create great accounts of the past, even if not entirely true. But getting those words on to paper? That was the tricky part. However, Old Eejit had had many years to refine his craft...with drawings. "Ummm...What is it E?" asked the young confused Kobold. "What? Ya daft moron. It's a picture." Rasped Old Eejit. His eyes burning daggers at the idiot youngster. "Yes, E. But of what?" "What you mean of what? It's damn obvious.Shrieked E. It's that time we set off the volcano and melted down the mining town." "Oh...Ummm...Well it looks like a bunch of halflings at the beach under a palm tree..." His dull red scales seemed to burn brighter as his anger rose. "Idiot! That's the volcano. How is it even a beach!? You know we don't use that lice-ridden colour, blue." "Um... Well....They got towels....and that there's a dolphin, right?...and sandcastles.... Old E smacked the child on the back of the head. If Old Eejit said it was a volcano. It was a damn volcano! RP Sample from Curse of Strahd

Oh this sounds absolutely fun! I really like the concept of same race party lol
Couple of questions though: -By Dragon Queen, do you mean Tiamat herself? -Is this an evil-aligned campaign? You did mention it is mostly light-hearted and wacky fun. But I'm bad at being bad. ![]() I was thinking of playing a support role (because I enjoy being an useless heal bot lmao), since no one seems to have applied for it so far. We'll see! |

Hi Folks! Thanks so much for your interest and responses so far
![]() Strangemund: You're too kind! You make me blush with your lovely flattery my friend. Yes, it felt like there was some space in my otherwise quiet life, for another little game hehe. I haven't run a race specific one before, but played in a goblin-only one once and it was really fun. There's something liberating about teams of critters! Togot: Mortis is creepy as haha! The lawful evil alignment should work fine, and the idea of experimenting and trying to be an ambitious necromancer sounds fun. He has green scales? Interesting... I wonder how this could potentially effect part dynamics and subterranean politics lol. ElderOblex: A handful of monsters and RPGs? Sounds like a great way to be!! Thanks heaps for popping in ![]() squirmonkey: Mikriti sounds wonderful! The dragon-emulation and identify crisis is a really fun quirk, and the drake would no doubt be good for all kinds of mischief ![]() Azure Nokori: Greetings! It is great to see someone willing to explore the idea of a really elderly PC XD. Which druid circle do you think Eejit would go for? There could fun to be had in flavoring things to suit an underground existence with him. The barbarian level sounds interesting too... I wonder how much he has to be poked to start raging ![]() Dechado: Tiamat? Oh scary! Our Queen's name is... Aramanthelyaveraxina. She's quite ancient, and sure did some pillaging in her youth. As for the evil thing... I'm not too fussed on the alignment thing, as long as the group can find a way to move through the adventure together. Friendly and "nice" Kobolds are as welcome as cranky and calculating ones XD. I've often found useless characters to be the most fun to play too, and a bit of healing never hurt anyone when done correctly ![]()

![]() Name: Kib Race: Kobold Class: Rogue Background: Clan Crafter (Guild Arisian) Alignment: Lawful Evil Personality traits: I'm well known for my work, and I want to make sure everyone appreciates it. I'm always taken aback when people haven't heard of me. I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right. I can't help it—I'm a perfectionist. Ideal: Aspiration. I work hard to be the best there is at my craft. (Any) Bond: One day I will return to my clan and prove that I am the greatest tinkerer of them all. Flaw: I have trouble trusting in my allies. Appearance: Kib considers himself to be amongst Tiamat's most favored as he was born with red scales. Those scales are adorned with a bluish-black tunic and trousers of similar color. It's clear that the clothes were not built with the kobold (or any kobold) in mind as the sleeves and pant legs have been cut short. Over those clothes, he wears a set of "gently used" leather armor. He wears his armor and clothing with pride and would never part with them (unless something better came along). In addition to his clothing, Kib wears a leather belt to house his many blades and a patchwork leather backpack to carry his tools (along with any goodies he discovers). Personality: Even by Kobold standards, Kib is not considered extraordinarily intelligent or strong. However, what he lacks in brain and brawn he makes up for with guile and lightning-like reflexes. Like everyone worth anything in his clan, his strengths were identified early on and applied in ways that benefited his brethren and his queen. For Kib, that meant fixing things that needed fixing and setting traps to protect the queen's treasure. He loved his work, largely because he knew that few others in the clan had the skill to do it. Bluescale yuk: From time to time, Kib goes out to check on his traps only to find that they have been sprung with little to no trace of anyone having been near them. While it's likely that this is due to his own novice-level skill at setting traps, he can't even consider that possibility. "It's those stupid blue scales! They're jealous of my talents and 'cause we're the queens' favorites!" While the queen's favor between the two clans was fleeting and ever-shifting, Kib (like most) believed that her favor landed squarely on his own clan. Backstory: At ten years of age, Kib is far from the oldest in his clan. However, among his division of trap checkers and takers, he's practically a grizzled veteran. Most that share his volition do not live long lives. Whether that's due to being caught by their own traps or being caught by any number of threats (ranging from do-gooder adventurers to monsters) whilst working alone deep into their tunnels. However, Kib wasn't like most trappers, he could hold his own in a fight and he was good at staying in the shadows (emphasis on the latter). RP Sample: It will be fun to play a silly character that's not a bard... Dashing through the forest. That was a warning shot! Beware the wrath of the dwarves!

@97mg Oh! I assumed it was Tiamat herself, since “Dragon Queen” is one of her titles!
I think I like Amaranthelyaveraxina better lol Looking forward to see how this develops, thanks for having us! |

@97mg how would you rule the actions available to a Battle Smith Artificer's Steel Defender if this hypothetical Artificer were to be sitting atop this theoretical Defender? And would movement be shared or separate?

![]() Treble83: Thanks for making Kib! A trap-tender is a neat idea, and I love how it is possible that sometimes the traps fail, so the Bluescales become the scapegoats hehe.
