I totally understand if this is a no, but would it be possible to sacrifice 5ft of move speed for an extra skill proficiency to reflect Eijits advanced age? I haven't made a sheet and chosen any skills yet, but I just feel like this would help the old man RP.

I guess it's a big ask as if you allow one customisation then more people will ask for small tweeks and then you gotta track them all. Buuuuuut, can't help to ask!

Application Character Name: Jigfed Class & Subclasses: Sorcerer (shadow magic) Personality What is your Kobold like? What is unique or whacky about them? Any mannerisms we should know about? Are you friendly and trusting, or snivelling and manipulative? I spend most of my time on the outskirts of the lair, in the tunnels leading deeper into the mountain. There's all sorts of creatures crawling around out there, and it is my job to make sure they don't cause trouble for the lair. Which, I suppose, doesn't exactly make me unique- there's plenty of other kobolds who do the exact same thing. But what makes me stand out, is that I like the job. I like the animals, more than any of my colleagues do. Most are happy to just kill anything that seems like a threat- or tasty enough- but me? I like to work with the beasts, either helping them relocate to some other part of the underground, or befriending them so they can help out the lair. And can you blame me? They're just so adorable! The other kobolds back at the lair respect what I do for the lair. Either that, or they realize I'm not a threat to them. They know I'm not trying to take over their place in the lair, because I'm happy with the one I have. Other kobolds are always on edge because they're all clumped together in a lair that's not big enough for all of them, which causes no end of grievances between them. But they know I'm not a part of that, so most of them don't mind me when I return to the lair for supplies. And I like helping out the others while I'm there- with small chores or big favors, I don't mind either way. I'm just grateful for the social interaction, you know? Sometimes the others act like I'm not smart enough for them, which I guess is true- being alone in the tunnels most of the time means missing out on things most kobolds find natural, so I usually don't know things which are common knowledge to the lair. But they seem to like me well enough not to hold it against me. Well, not before I leave on my next patrol, anyway. As for the queen leaving... Yeah, I'm sad about that. I think she took one look at her lair, which had become an overcrowded warren for my kind, and decided there was not enough room for her. After all, the queen's huge, you know? She deserves a massive lair to herself, not a small place which she has to share with lesser creatures. Which is why I think it is silly so many of my kind spend their lives working on the lair. Polish the walls and the floors all you want, it isn't getting any bigger! I think more kobolds should come with me into the tunnels, and claim more of them in her name, you know? That means I'm doing important work! Unfortunately, the other kobolds don't seem to agree with me- they're worried the nasty Bluescales will take over the lair if they go out to claim more ground. Which, to be fair, is a valid concern. So, what I think we should do, is get rid of all the Bluescales, so we can expand further into the tunnels, with no fear of those wretches mucking things up while we're gone. That way, we get rid of the overpopulation, we make the lair bigger, and then maybe, the queen will be happy enough with us to come back home? Appearance What kind of small, weak individual are you? How do you dress? What sets you apart from all the others in the tribe? Are you a cute Kobold, or an ugly scary one? I don't know why exactly, but for some reason my scales aren't red and shiny anymore. They used to be, but now, they're a dull grey. Like I said, no idea why. But it might have something to do with that one time when I got lost in this tunnel. Don't laugh, I don't usually get lost. But that one time, I was exploring an out of the way canyon, and these pesky Bluescales showed up. Long story short, they pushed me down a cliff, and I spent days trying to find my way back. Anyway, I found these black mushrooms there, and I was really hungry. So I ate some- they seemed safe enough. But I think that's when my scales began to lose their colour. At least they aren't blue, right? Speaking of blue, my eyes are that color. Like, ice blue, and they glow in the dark a little. Not enough to be noticeable, but I've definitely had other kobolds say it is kinda like those spots you see after you've looked at a bright light. You're pretty sure there's nothing actually there, but you definitely see something. Other than that, well, I dress in pretty average clothes. Not a lot of point in wearing heavy armour on long treks through the tunnels, or flashy garb when stalking muck-covered tunnels. I do have quite a bit of scarring- burn marks, from the oozes, you see? They're adorable little creatures, but it does kinda sting a little when they hug you! But at least the pinkish coloration of the scars breaks up the monotonous grey a bit, right? Bluescales, yuk What did the Bluescales do to you personally, that makes you dislike them? For bonus points, feel free to create a rough Bluescale NPC who wronged you some way, in the past. There's this one Bluescale, Defkul, who is basically a colleague. However, where I try to tame and befriend the wild animals, he kills them. For sport. Right in front of me, sometimes! He's really nasty about it, too, and always laughs at me. Thinks he's better than me, just because he's smarter, and more reliable, and didn't bring that nest of baby Grells into the lair that one time. But isn't that just like those Bluescales, always acting like they're better than us? I Can Write Funny: Aramil is being silly about basically everything. Barrik the dwarf enjoys a night at the tavern.

Can you please help me? I'm not drunk. Name: Kobolds call her Hey, Move it, Wake up, Are you drunk again, Where are your clothes, or Zetti, which is her actual name. Race: Kobold! Duh! Class: MonkFace Puncher - Drunken MasterSurly Drunk Background: Reflavored SpyScout   Zetti is a bit on the short side, even by kobold standards, but- "Who you callin' short?!? I'm not short, you're just... up there! Don't go-" Sorry, she's drunk, and when she's drunk, she claims she can see things, like she's looking through a hazy wall. "I'm not drunk! You're just bein' blurry to get on my nerves! I can't be drunk, I've only had um... uh... I forgot how to *hic* count..." All right, all right, I gave her a big mug full of blueberry mead and shoved her towards the mushroom gardens, she'll get lost and pass out so I can get on with this. Anyway Zetti is a little on the short side, with reddish scales and hide as one would expect. Some say her scales are more of an orangeish hue, but then she punches them. She's more on the... hang on, have to make sure she's out of hearing range before I say this... cute side, though nothing about her behavior backs that up. She's wiry and in good shape all things considered, which is a bit of a mystery considering her drinking habits. She likes to dress nicely, having once stolen a halfling pipeweed merchant's luggage and found all manner of fancy clothes inside, but it's still dressing nicely by kobold standards, not halfling ones, so it's still pretty disheveled. Especially since she had to cut a hole in the pants for her tail which ended up making most of them rip and tear up. Lousy halfling tailors, not taking the needs of kobolds who would steal their clothes into account! When she talks she usually slurs her words and swears a lot, even when she's sober. Well, mostly because she is sober. She doesn't wear any armor and doesn't carry any weapons other than a heavy drinking mug, but she has knocked many a kobold unconscious with it.   Zetti is crude, snide, rude, and surly, and that's even before she's had anything to drink. However once she's gotten some alcohol in her she's a lot different. She's even more crude, snide, rude, and surly, and also wobbles a lot. She's argumentative and takes offense easily, frequently getting into fights with other Redscale kobolds over things the other kobold doesn't understand and she doesn't remember. Her only saving grace is that kobolds who aren't the focus of her drunken wrath can't help but find her so entertaining. Also she's a really mean fighter when she's drunk, so most kobolds don't really want to go out of their way to offend her. She's also very easy to manipulate because not only is she usually drunk, she's also pretty dumb. She didn't used to be, but as mentioned, she drinks a lot. Some of the kobolds who have dared to get to know her in between bouts of drunken chicanery have discovered she's not a bad kobold, and doesn't want to seriously hurt anyone (unless they're blue), but likes to drink and likes to fight and that just is what it is.   From an early age Zetti was a scout for the Redscale kobolds. It was her job to sneak out of the cave, find things that could be food or treasure, and then report back to the tribe's elders to decide what to do about it. It wasn't the most glamorous job, but it was important. Otherwise the Redscale would just be sending kobolds out at random and hoping to get lucky, and what kind of kobold would do something that stupid? The Bluescales, of course! One evening Zetti was sniffing out some mushrooms for the harvesters to collect when she heard some commotion - the sound of a battle! Curious about what was going on she snuck closer and found a small group of orcs fighting a small group of beardfaces. She stayed hidden while she decided what to do. By the time she reported back the fight would be over, so that wasn't an option. She could help the orcs, but orcs were jerks and wouldn't give her anything, so why bother? And helping the beardfaces was completely out of the question, they were even bigger jerks and liked to kill kobolds! And so Zetti decided the best course of action was to just stay hidden. Best possibility, they all kill each other and she could run back to the tribe and send some looters to clean up what was left. But then the fighting spilled closer to the cart the beardfaces were hauling and tipped it over. A small cask fell off and started rolling down the hill, right next to where Zetti was hiding. She didn't have time to think, only to react, and react she did. By chasing the rolling cask all the way to the bottom of the hill. It was heavy but she was able to pick it up with both hands, the small kobold making a run for it as soon as she had it lest she be noticed. She didn't know what it was, but she knew beardfaces loved their gold, and her head was full of dreams of a cask full of gold. Once she made it back to the kobold caves she was supposed to report her find to the quartermaster, but her curiosity got the best of her. She just had to know what was in the cask! Prying it open she was disappointed to find not gold, but some sort of honey-colored liquid. She sniffed it, it smelled funny. She dipped a finger into it and took a taste, and felt as though she had licked liquid gold. Greedily she dunked her head into the cask and started drinking, a great feeling of warmth and wealth washing over her. She would be in so much trouble, but she didn't care. Everything started to get fuzzy and it felt like the earth was shaking. The last thing she remembered was spinning in a circle and falling down but that falling down was the happiest she had ever felt. When she finally came to the next day she discovered that nobody had found her in the narrow alcove she had hidden to investigate her loot. Her head hurt, but surely more of the liquid gold would make it stop. That was a year and a half ago, and since then, Zetti has dedicated herself to stealing casks and barrels whenever she was out on a scouting mission, never telling anyone about her finds. By now she has figured out how to create more of the magic happy juice, doing so for the kobold who runs the best eatery in the caves. Though she keeps the best for herself, of course. Many kobolds have observed that she seems to have changed since then, but she doesn't care. It is now her goal to find the recipe and ingredients for the small cask of golden bliss that she first found, as she has never found nor created its equal. In the meantime she sometimes gets called up by the head honcho of the Redscales to cause general mayhem, mostly because she seems incapable of following any kind of plan. Not that kobolds do a lot of planning, but still.   Several months ago the stupid, ugly Bluescales claimed to have someone who could make happy juice just as good as Zetti could. Needless to say, she took this personally. A challenge was arranged with the ogre Knubfist serving as impartial judge. Zetti used the best ingredients she had available to her and crafted her best happy juice yet! But after drinking both, Knubfist declared her rival, the Bluescale Torku, to have made better! The nerve! The audacity! Then Zetti learned that Torku had cheated and slipped poison into the happy juice! Poison was strictly forbidden by the rules of the contest, but he put poison in his happy juice anyway! It was just strong enough to give it enough of a kick to make an ogre woozy, which was how he won! Her happy juice was much better but he cheated! Zetti has vowed to kick Torku right in the happy place for cheating, and then shove a mug of his poison brew right up his... oh this is totally unnecessary, I'm not reading this. I don't care if she wrote it herself, basic decency has limits.   Going back quite a ways, PotM winner for July, 2012 here

Ah haha, man I had forgotten all about that game, but yes! That one was a lot less surly than this kobold though. Zetti has enough surly drunkenness to put dwarves to shame.

Name: Zatt
Race: He is not very good in a race, unless it is for food.
Class: Sorcerer (Wild Magic)
Background: Entertainer (He thinks anyway)

Personality: Due to his wild magic, Zatt is very nervous whenever he casts spells, even the small ones. He loves to be the center of attention and will do he best to make other red scales happy. He is a bit of a goofball, with high energy, talks really fast and always in third person. He may not be the smartest, and can be compulsive at times, acting without thinking.

Appearance: Zatt is on the smaller side as far as kolbolds go. That however does not stop him from being the center of attention. Wearing robes that he found, and are to big for him, Zatt often trips over his own feet. His scales are a vibrant red, leading him to believe he is the reddest of red scales.

Blue Scales Yuk! Being an entertainer, Zatt likes to "play music" his instrument of choice is a random stick he found. Zatt calls this stick Tap Tap, and it is his favoristist stick. One day he misplaced it and sadly can no longer find Tap Tap. Surely the nasty Blue Scales stoled it! They steel everything.

Backstory: Like all things Zatt does, his success with magic was purely by accident. It manifested itself at the worst opportune time. When he was young, Zatt was watching the elders of the tribe were doing a ritual and were trying to start a fire. They seemed to be having some trouble so Zatt made the same motions as those trying to ignite a small fire. A raging bonfire erupted out of nowhere and from then on, Zatt saw himself as the unofficial, official fire starter of the Red Scales.

The story of how he learned of the wild magic that flowed through him was also by accident. Being able to start fires at will made him popular with the tribe guards and scouts. Making it easy for them to get fire for torches. Zatt being the type of kolbold that enjoys showing off tried to make a bigger fire….as the spell finished, he was teleported into the Astral Plane for a few seconds. Within those few seconds, he saw a massive Astral whale swim by him. The creature turned and opened its mouth about to swallow the small lizard. After he popped back into the cave he was standing, Zatt was screaming. From then on, any time he cast a spell he would visibly shake, close his eyes and timidly cast a spell.

The hyper, constantly scared kobold found a stick and hit it against a rock. Laughing he started hitting everything in sight. Naming the stick Tap Tap, Zatt would tap on different objects to see what it sounded like. In his mind, Zatt was making others happy with his tapping. One very sad day, Tap Tap disappeared. Not knowing that he had simply set it down and could not remember where he put Tap Tap down, the obvious answer was an agent of the evil Blue Scales snuck in when he was not looking and took it out of jealousy.

 

Zatt was in the kolbold's equivalent of a tavern drinking and tapping on random chairs, tables and other kobold with his favorite stick Tap Tap. He thought he was making everyone's night that much more fun by playing music for the other drinkers. The more he "played" the more others were handing him drinks to get him to stop hitting them with the stick.

"Zatt no more. No one wants to here you hit things."
Zatt grumbed and took another swig of whatever he was handed. "Zatt play more for you" He turned after putting the drink down and went to grab Tap Tap but the beloved stick was gone. Zatt's eyes went wide. "Who took Tap Tap?! Where Tap Tap!? " Zatt scrambled looking around the area for the stick. What the young kobold forgot was that while he was drinking, he had taken a few to many steps away from Tap Tap and lost it.

@97mg Now I don't want to put more on your plate (and not sure if it would be practical for the adventure) but if there is a manageable number of applicants, would it be feasible to split us in half and have 2 separate threads for Red vs Blue? A quick find-replace can turn us from hating those dirty Bluescales to hating those dirty Redscales.

Again, not wanting to overburden you, just an idea that might be interesting
