This might not be a problem if their superhuman strength and stamina didn’t lead to them manhandling and exhausting mortals to death in search of satisfaction.

If you have to deal with a succubus it’s often a good idea to attempt negotiation first. Succubi can be reasoned with like any other sapient creature and their resistance to seduction is tremendously low. Keep in mind that this may still seal your doom.

It's also worth noting that the Succubus/Incubus are three points off of having the Body stat of a Fiend, which can be anywhere from an 11 - 6 point difference for your average (non-PC/Plot Important) person.

That quote kinda proves my point about dying from exhaustion. And considering you actually see more then a few succubi in the stories/games who have no problem enjoying time with mortals without hurting them. It leads into my point that as a general rule, succubi are much more benign then werewolves.

Such as the one you meet in one side quest in Witcher 2 which is an optional "encounter" for Geralt. Palmerin, one of the knight from Toussaint who introduces you to the Blood and Wine DLC and really didn't get enough screen time in the DLC is an actual book character and one of the things you learn about him reading the books is he's actually also romantically involved with a succubus and defended her honor because the dude is basically the embodiment of chivalry.

But I supposed torn apart by a savage beast or being broken in an act of passion by a succubus is really a matter or opinion as to what is worse. Personally I'd take the succubi any day.

On the barebones surface level I'd be inclined to agree, but then take into consideration the medical care available in The Witcher. Unless you're a Witcher (in which case, you probably brought this on yourself and deserve the weeks-months of pain) you aren't going to be chugging potions. That and a Werewolf is going to kill you quicker than the wounds from Succubi/Incubi. Sure, the werewolf isn't going to put a "smile on your face", however, once you get past the dopamine high (assuming you're still riding that cloud after your pelvis is in agonizing pain, which I'm doubting pretty heavily) you're probably not going to be smiling during or after the fact.

Then again by that point, you're a liability to the Succubi/Incubi, so maybe they'll just snap your neck regardless. I think that really comes down to the case-by-case basis for them as sapient monsters, though.

All this assumes the succubi hurts you during the act in the first place, which the stories both books and games have demonstrated many times really isn't always the case. In the above example I gave for example, the succubus Palmerin is romantically involved with wasn't just a one time thing, it's an ongoing relationship. There's even a little Easter egg reference to that in Blood and Wine where you can find a letter from her sent to Palmerin about wanting to see him again. Thought it is never brought up in conversation.

Palmerin is a knight of Toussaint so sure and he's pretty badass. But given that by the time blood and wine happens he's likely in his 50s he's not in peak health for sure and he is only human, not a witcher or mage or anything.

Whereas werewolves, I can't think of a single peaceful encounter with one on the top of my head in the books or games (thought admittedly my memory is foggy on the books since it's been a while) they always show up as angry violent monsters. And being torn apart/bleeding to death is a really nasty way to go.

So I think as a general rule, you have much more of a chance of getting out alive intact in an encounter with a succubus then with a werewolf, super-human strength or not.

To add to the discussion (?), I believe werewolves also lack self-control, and are prone to attacking anyone and everyone violently - even loved ones or relatives. According to the TTRPG:

Quote:
Werewolves manifest all the cruelty and evil intentions of the cursed person. When a person transforms into a werewolf, usually a process started by the rising of the moon, they lose all shreds of their humanity and are left with only their intelligence and their worst and most vicious urges.
Quote:
When a character changes, they become a vicious predator with a human’s cunning and an urge to kill... when in their werewolf form the character acts on all their worst impulses with no mercy and kills anyone in their way.
That sounds pretty definitive as the worst option, to me. Admittedly, both options are bad, but at least a Succubi can be reasoned with (potentially). So, my vote is the Succubi.

I'm back and am going to try running just this game for a bit. I'm not sure if I'll even be allowed to do that but we'll see.

Welcome back, Hal!

Hopefully the game will be able to continue, it looks like a pretty fun game to be involved in.

welcome back Hal

*Edit* added the bits about the cultist he made an enemy with and started the portion of the background detailing the female bard he became friends with. Still work in progress but I'm slowly putting together the background to include all the lifepath events.

Interested in this game; when you say one Witcher and one Mage, do you mean you will take a maximum of one each, or that you want at least one each but will take more?

Most games in this system are powered for one mage and 1 witcher max, I think. With my prospective applicants, I want to break that rule but I'm worried about one mage stealing another mages thunder. I'm sorry, but yes, there is going to be heavy competition between people who want to be the mage. You are welcome to have two character applications if you want to play a mage but wouldnt mind playing something else. I'll even let you roll a whole new lifepath if you apply with a secondary character that is non-mage or non-witcher

Well, if it helps, and assuming Restle is selected, he would be more of a gish than straight spell slinger, and focused on buffing.

I am considering selecting more than one mage at this time since they do seem to be quite different and there is less chance of stepping on any toes.
