Theme Song Good Man in a Bad Time

Setting Jennings, Pennsylvania circa 1983. Population: 1,614. Other than a run-down mall, it is an unremarkable town.

Plot It's Halloween, 1983. The characters are teenagers doing whatever teenagers do on Halloween. Egging houses. Smashing pumpkins. Partying on the edge of town when a seven-foot-tall man wearing a mask and wielding a blood-drenched hatchet approaches. What do the characters do!? Run? Somehow he catches up despite walking at a slow pace. Attack? Weapons don't seem to do much. He won't stay down for long… Hide? He seems to locate you no matter where you hide. Run for the graveyard in the distance? You finally lost him. What are those.. zombies?! The game starts with a single slasher chasing the characters. The characters can defeat the slasher, but it is HARD. The characters can evade the slasher, but that is also HARD. Depending on where the characters retreat, other threats might be encountered, e.g. a ghost haunting an abandoned house. Assuming the slasher has not been dealt with, the characters might have to contend with multiple adversaries. Each character starts with: Hit Points: 8 + Con mod Prof: +2 Armor: Light Weapons: Simple Saving Throws: Dexterity and Constitution Skills: Perception and Stealth Each player then chooses an archetype for their character: Jock, Prep, Geek, Hoodlum, or Outcast. Each archetype is proficient in an additional skill and has access to equipment that will give them certain advantages. Jock Skill: Athletics Equipment: (a) letterman jacket (AC 11) or (b) baseball bat (1d6 bludgeoning damage). Prep Skill: Persuasion Equipment: (a) cellphone or (b) derringer (.45) (2d6 piercing damage) w/ 2 rounds. Geek Skill: Investigation Equipment: (a) first-aid kit or (b) flashlight. Hoodlum Skill: Intimidation Equipment: (a) leather jacket (AC 11) or (b) switchblade (1d4 piercing damage). Outcast Skill: Deception Tool: Lock-Picks Equipment: (a) lighter or (b) lock-picks. Win: The characters survive. Lose: The characters get killed.

Archetype: jock

Description: wavy short hair brown hair. Broad shoulders small waist lean but sculpted legs. In a Leatherman most of the time with jeans or swim trunks.

Personality: [2-7 Sentences] cool and laid back. Competitive and usually throwing out challenges to those around him. He picks on the nerd but has a soft spot for girls in glasses though wouldn't dare say anything.

Background: [I prefer quality over length.] He started swim team at age 5. It started out as water safety but nick took to the water like a fish. He made friends easy but he was pushed by his father to master swim. It still has the concussions of football but with technique it can be slightly prevented.

Scholarships meant nick could get to good schools. While his family had money he wasn't a prep kid so he'd have to earn his way.

This sounds insane. I love the concept. A couple questions.

Are we going to be gaining levels at all? And will magic be involved? It'll just change the concept of my character a little bit.

Basically I wanna know if I should make the weird goth kid who might actually be able to do magic. Or the weird chemistry nerd who probably makes meth in his parent's basement.

App Name: Lori Age: 16 Archetype: Outcast Description: Her hair is completely dyed in white. She usually wears black leather clothes and a whole lot of make-up and black eyeliner. Has a somewhat petite frame and doesn't look like she exercises much. Personality: Lori is the type to have the worst personality and just hates everything in her life, and is pretty much a punk. At least that's the person she pretends to be. She's in actuality more down-to-earth and tends to not be confrontational or violent. She likes to study a lot and prefers that than any social activity. She hates jocks and cheerleaders. Background: Lori isn't from around here, in fact, she's actually from rural Massachusetts. Her family were just simple farmfolks. When it was revealed that Lori got enough booksmarts to enter a real highschool instead of the average homeschooling, it was grounds for celebration. However, when Lori entered highschool for the first time, she got bullied hard for her origins and her Boston accent. That was horrible, however, after weeks of bullying she had enough. Though she can't leave home because her parents were very proud of her, she had an idea to disguise herself. Make her someone that people will back down from, a bad girl persona without any of her embarrassing origins. Enter new Lori, she pretended to enroll in her highschool thanks to some help from a few friendly teachers and she stayed in highschool for years. And no one was the wiser on who Lori really is.

One question though. Would even the richest kids have a cellphone in 1983? I remember even in Clueless from 1995 one of the jokes was that the kids had phones to show how rich they were.

1) As a fan of 80’s goth and post-punk music, I’m still depressed about Bauhaus, lol.

2) We will be using point-buy for attributes.

3) The first commercially available cellphone came out in ‘83 and was a sign of status. It was also a giant, clunky monstrosity, lol.

It's nice to see others on here sharing my interests other than just a love for gaming. Even to this day, Bauhaus is in my top 3 favorite bands of all time, across all genres. I was a bit too young to have been there for breakup, but Peter went on to have a steller solo career and the rest of the band brought us Love & Rockets and Tones On Tail, so I'm not too upset Peter and Daniel had "musical differences." lol
BTW, Bauhaus is doing a reunion tour.

Anyway, sorry to derail things. I'm pretty much at my game limit atm, but this look too awesome to pass up. I'll get an app up soon... and I will NOT be playing a goth lol. Maybe a hothead burner, like Judd Nelson in Breakfast Club, but I'm actually leaning toward the Geek (pre-med specifically).

Application Name: Becky Age: 17 Archetype: Prep Description: Slightly taller than average with long brunette hair and hazel eyes. Always dressed in the height of fashion when it comes to clothes and make up. She's actually in fairly good physical shape - before growing into her looks and becoming cool and popular she was a sporty tomboy, though she prefers not to think about this. Personality: Vain, proud and obsessed with boys, fashions and popularity. She's not a great student and can come across as a bit of an airhead. Beneath the attitude, killer clothes, pastel nail polish and lipgloss and hairspray she's still the same tomboy who is wondering what happened. Background: Becky is a city girl from New York who moved here with her parents when her dad got a job. Being in a small town has nearly driven Becky out of her tiny mind with boredom but she has at least managed to rise to the top of the hierarchy as one of if not the most popular girls in school. With good looks, wealthy parents, a killer fashion sense and the ultimate social cachet of being from New York she is royalty in the local teen scene.

Application Name: Anthony Andrews Age: 18 (Senior) Archetype: Geek Description: Anthony is not quite a stereotypical geek. He doesn't wear glasses, he's not short & skinny (but he's not tall & buff either), and he is actually quite cute, if you can look passed the sweater vests and penny-loafers. Brown hair, trimmed conservatively, blue eyes, and clean-shaven. Personality: Anthony is a serious kid, already quite focused on his choice of career. He generally avoids the drama of high school, meaning he has practically no friends his own age, which suits him just fine since he can't relate to their immaturity. Anthony is a go-getter, and isn't afraid to assert himself in situations he is qualified to command. Background: From a young age, Anthony knew he wanted to be a doctor. He attended summer camps dedicated to prepping young students, giving them a headstart in the field. In his junior year at high school, Anthony began taking advanced biology courses at his local university twice a week in the evenings. His parents even let him borrow the Beamer to drive himself. Yup! He's the quintessential "goodie-little-two-shoes."

Character Application Name: Buck (Real name Jason) Age: 18 Archetype: Hoodlum Description: Average in height, slim in build, with thick, wavy black hair, dark brown eyes, clean shaven and with sharp, angular facial features. He has a scar down the top and bottom of the left side of his lips, he always has a frustrated look on his face, but his eyes give away some kind of sadness pushed far back into himself. He wears a blank white shirt covered by a well worn leather jacket, and tight, ripped jeans. On his right arm is a classic American style tattoo of a knife going through a rose and wears a silver chained necklace. Personality: Hates school and everything about it, if it wasn't for shop class to work on his bike, he would never even go there. He hangs out with his gang of other hoodlums, listening to thrash metal, smoking cigarettes and MJ, sneaking sips of booze in between classes. He is a typical 80's rebel, despises the establishment and authority and often does things that will purposefully irritate them. He is more than willing to fight, either with his hands, or his trusty blade, but gets more joy making others squirm with just his words. But deep down, he is sad, and angry, sad that his dad is dead and replaced by someone who doesn't want to be a father, angry that he has a mother that chose to find another man that wasn't his father or anything like him. The only reason he ever goes home, is to eat, sleep, and steal booze and cigarettes. Background: Butch (his father's name) lost his father when he was 13 years old (suicide, but his mother told him it was an accident), his mom re-married a man that didn't like or care for him, wanted to have a whole new family with her and has step siblings that have been manipulated to think less of him. The only things that his father had left behind for him was his leather jacket, and his motorcycle. He put those to good use, as he would leave home whenever he could and joined a gang of other like minded teens. The older members became his father figures and he followed in their footsteps, loving pushing boundaries, making other people angry for his enjoyment and beating up anyone who thought that they could get in his way. He sells weed in the school, often getting busted but not caring, saving the money he can to get out of this hell hole of a place. He doesn't know what he will do in the future, but it will most likely be more involved in his gang, being a mechanic, or follow in his father's footsteps into the grave.
