Obviously still a WIP, but I wanted to share what I was working on. Should hopefully have the finished app ready over the next few days. Good to go!

Rashirr Name: Rashirr Stats: Race: Catfolk +2 Dex, Cha, -2 Wis Strength (Normal) 10 (3+7) Dexterity (Good) 21 (7+12+2) Constitution (Good) 17(5+12) Intelligence (Bad) 7 (5+2) Wisdom (Normal) 10 (5+7-2) Charisma (Bad) 11 (7+2+2) Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Class: Brawler (Snakebite Striker) Race: Catfolk Traits: Reactionary, Nonchalant Thuggery, Unlearned (flaw) Reason for Arrival: Gladiator Personality: Above all else, Rashirr values his freedom. For nearly his entire life, he was always a slave, under someone’s command, someone’s whip. He’s finally on his own, beholden to no one, and he intends to stay that way. He’s smart enough to realize that he needs to work for others, at least for now, but he’ll rankle at the thought of someone “owning” him, even if not literally. Rashirr’s interactions with others are…complicated. He’s never really had friends in any meaningful way, and if you ask him he’ll say he never felt the lack. He does show a certain tendency to try and dominate in social situations, but that’s born more of a desire to protect himself and his own interests than any real desire to be a leader, and he can work with someone else if those interests are benefited. He may not exactly be silver tongued, but he’s generally at least witty enough to avoid sticking his foot too deeply in his mouth. In many cases, behind a facade of athleticism and physical prowess lies a rich, curious mind. That is manifestly not the case with Rashirr. He never even learned to read, in any language, and considers virtually all academic pursuits a waste of time. He’s convinced that whatever challenges his intellectual failings present can be overcome through a combination of his wits (which he tends to overestimate) and fists. History: Until recently, Rashirr has never really known freedom. His mother Sharierr was a concubine to Narek, the chief of a nomadic catfolk tribe in the desert north of Julianople. Narek’s wife Lashma didn’t want any threats to her son,Tarish, succeeding his father as chief, but Narek wasn’t willing to kill a child. After pressure from his wife, he agreed to sell Rashirr to slavers from Julianople. Being raised by slavers was obviously a difficult childhood. A large group of children lived together in squalid conditions and given only minimal care. Disobedience was punished harshly, but so long as they did the work they were given they were mostly left to their own devices. The only catfolk child among the group and speaking only basic, broken Common, Rashirr was instantly an outcast. As the years went on, he started getting into more and more fights, and winning them more often than not. Even older children began fearing the “crazy cat kid”, leading him to develop the cocky attitude of a bully. The slavers began to worry he’d be too unruly for them to easily handle, and so sold him to a gladiatorial stable, where his latent skills would be an asset…if they could tame the wildcat. Rashierr’s life changed overnight. The careless near-anarchy he’d known was replaced by rigid discipline and brutal training. His peers were suddenly all as tough as he was, and many were bigger and stronger. The big fish had been taken from his small pond into a river populated by piranha. Even if circumstances may have forced him to fall into line, he never quite lost his surly attitude, just learned to temper it. The trainers, though, saw his value: crowds would flock to see an exotic creature like a catfolk fight, and Rashirr showed real aptitude. In particular, he drew the attention of Jai Hajur, a former gladiator who’d grown too old to keep fighting and instead began training younger fighters. An ifrit, he’d had a similar childhood to Rashirr’s, and saw much of himself in the young man. He taught him the fighting style he’d used through his career, facing opponents’ greater size and strength with nimble speed and quickness. Rashirr took to the style, not so different from the way he already fought, and emerged as one of the most promising students. While he grew competent with various weapons, he was always at his best simply with bare hands. He was thrown into real fights as soon as he was judged old enough, and began gaining renown as an successful, exciting fighter. Rashirr did enjoy fighting, but never grew to accept the idea of having to do it for someone else. He was determined to win freedom, and as he traveled the world for his bouts he constantly spent whatever free time he was allowed working to earn money to buy it. Having received basically no education, he didn’t know how to do much other than fight, but those skills could usually earn a bit of coin, especially if you weren’t overly concerned with the legality of the work. It took years, but between those jobs and some gambling, he finally managed to scrape together enough to purchase his freedom. Of course, spending all that money means he doesn’t have much left to live on, so he’ll need to find some paying work, and soon. Trivia: As mentioned above, Rashirr is illiterate. Living as a gladiator and taking work as a hired thug, that wasn’t usually much of a problem, but it is starting to be something of a headache now that he’s on his own. Not long after he became a gladiator, he found a small rat in his barracks fighting two other rats. Even he was never quite sure why, but he felt a kind of kinship towards it. He killed the other two and took this one as a pet that he named Swifty. He still has him, and shows a level of care and concern for the rodent that would surprise most people who know him. Rashirr enjoys singing, and although his repertoire is limited mostly to bawdy tavern songs, he’s surprisingly talented. When he was sold to slavers as a child, he was wearing a simple blue robe. That robe is long since gone, but he has a small scrap of fabric torn from it that he usually wears tied around his wrist.

Reason for Arrival: You were born in Julianople. You left Julianople. You returned to Julianople. So it goes - though you may have tried to deny it once, you and the city are one. You always, ALWAYS, fit right in thanks to your keen knowledge of the city. When you came back, you needed some cash, fast. And there was a lot of gold to be made near the Dead Mermaid's Casino... Benefit: +2 to Knowledge (Local), which is always a class skill for you. When making a Stealth check, you can choose to use your Int, Wis or Cha modifier instead of your Dex modifier.Local Description: Certainly one of the more unique individuals to grace the streets of Julianople and can you really consider yourself a local if you haven't heard of Crimson in some fashion, he is for all intensive purposes a collection of leaves, stems and small branches that have formed a small humanoid presence around the height of a halfling but more compact in nature. His colors are a greyish green with red fringes along the edges of the leaves, small circular eyes, a mouth lacking of standard lips and while by the colors and leaves he appears to have a nose there are no real nostrils or the like. Personality: A genuinely kind soul who wants the world to be a better place, he knows that's not always easy and that others may not share that same goal, but he hopes to lead others to the same thinking by example. He enjoys talking with others, and can't help but interject himself at times into others conversations, probably cause he has a tendency towards openness and sees no reason in hiding things. He would quite happily help others with any task if asked, even if it was beyond his means he would try. He is most at home tending his gardens, and experimenting with cooking, though his dishes do not contain any meat. Crimson is used to the odd stares and his uniqueness, it doesnt bother him in the slightest and very rarely holds any type of grudge unless somebody does something extremally disturbing or offensive. History: Crimson was brought into being by an old jungle druid who lived along the fringes of Julianople, truly the man was little more than a hermit who was occasionally sought out for his knowledge of local flora and fauna but the man was lonely and sought another to pass his years with. Crimson spent the better part of a decade with the old man, helping him care for his gardens and taking pilgrimages to local sites of importance and was very much the companion the man needed through his final years. Crimson spent little time in the company of others, except the few friends the old man had, and when the old man final succumbed to old age it was only Crimson who was at his side to ease him into the unknown. Crimson's life was certainly much different from that point on, for he had always dreamed about learning more about Julianople and its many inhabitants and the old man had encouraged him to go and seek out Maria who had a little garden and house not far from Julianople when the time came. Crimson spent the first few weeks watching Maria go about he daily life, and he would often sneak into the garden to help her maintain it and grow it as worked himself up to the idea of approaching her. For while he had met her a time or two before it had always been in the company of the Old Man and he wasn't sure how she might react to the news that he was not with them any longer. Matters sorted themself out though when she came across him one night in her garden, and Crimson came clean with what had happened to her friend. She invited him to stay with her while Crimson figured out what was to come next for him and taught him much about what she of city life in Julianople. She took him into the city frequently and introduced him to others, and over the course of a few months the novelty of his appearance grew less among the inhabitants and more were familiar with his presence. He took to freely moving about the city, and exploring everywhere he could, excited to learn about the many different people that called this place home. Maria often cared for some of the younger children around her, if parents had to be away or those that were orphaned, and it was something that Crimson took great delight in assisting with as the children tended to be more accepting of his oddities than adults were. His own powers over nature continued to grow as well, and perhaps had always been there but had been more over shadowed by the Old man's. He has found himself able to have more of an effect on the world around him and has much to the delight of the children called on nature for a companion and an Ape has answered the call who he calls Voona. Depending on his task at hand Crimson has been know to ride along on Voona about town and relies upon her strength and endurance for long travels or tasks with heavy lifting involved. She is truly a kind ape, and Crimson could not have asked a better companion as he explores the many opportunities of Julianople. Unique Goal:   Three Trivia Tidbits (optional): 1) Crimson only eats vegetables and fruit, and goes out of his way to avoid any possible corruption from meat, when in doubt he often relies on goodberry spell for sustenance. 2) Has an obsession with mint, seasoning things with mint, mint tea, even just the smell of mint. 3) Crimson doesnt quite get the concept of modest so often is rather bold or might be considered intrusive

My mind's leaning towards giving you all a list of 'background-ish' skills and letting each player choose x amount of them to be designated 'background' skills for their own character, and the rest are adventuring skills.

I'll think on that some more. We'll see.

All that remains to be done for Signe is buying starting equipment, which is surprisingly harder than normal because I'm not used to the carrying capacity for 7 Strength.

But I don't think whatever armor and trinkets I manage to sneak into my weight limit is going to have a big impact on the idea behind the character. If you'd like to take a look now, I'd certainly be humbled to receive any feedback.

Just to make everyone aware, there have been a couple of changes to the Reasons for Arrival. Nothing much, just that Explorer and Blood Sacrifice have been slightly buffed as I felt like they were lagging behind the other benefits.

I'm still undecided on the best way to deal with Background Skills if we do it at all, which is why I'm tempted to throw my hands up and just say that everyone gets +2 Skill Points at first level as it's easier. I think that allows people to put at least A skill rank into things that are good for RP and backstory and not much else, while not either being rife for abuse or alternatively making certain skills just unviable to put points into at later levels (because if it's a background skill it feels really tricky to focus an entire character around Perform, for example)

God. So many good applications. I'm not looking forward to the 18th of June.
