Plot Summary
The Quest for the Dragon Pearls:

Once upon a time, in a nightmarish galaxy, far far away, Kjang the World-Conqueror has stepped into the role of Galactic Emperor. In the five short years of his rule he has enslaved nearly every one of the Core planets to add to his ever-growing Empire of Eternal Undead. His ultimate goal, however, remains in seeking the five Cosmic Dragons in order to obtain the Infinite Dragon Pearls. Even if no one out in the wide-open black has stepped forward, thinking themselves powerful enough to take down Emperor Kjang, everyone seems to know that if he were to get his hands on the Pearls it would spell doom for the galaxy. Rumor has it that once he has the pearls, Kjang will have the power to create a vortex of undeath with just a snap of his fingers that will engulf the entire galaxy.

Meanwhile, in a pirate port on the water planet, Namken, the crew of the Canderous await repairs in the drydock. As you sit in the cantina of the Rusty Squid, several different species of fish and amphibian beings eye you suspiciously and then look away as your surly, human captain, Dahk Jetstar enters the cantina and approaches your table, "I found us a job." Now, normally this would have been great news but this time, the whole crew knew that since that last escape from Imperial entanglement had gotten so dicey that the Canderous wasn't going anywhere for a while. That meant whatever job Captain Dahk had found was on this planet, "There is a derelict hyper-fuel freighter beached on an island just two hours out from here. You know, one of the big ones." The only problem was, there had to be a catch, these jobs always had catches, those jobs your crew just had to take to pay for repairs. The captain continued, "Gather your gear, a boatman has agreed to take us out within the hour."

Captain Dahk has never steered you wrong, sure, you are technically a pirate crew, a bunch of outlaws and scallywags but that was just according to Imperial Law. There was nothing wrong about living a little left of the law to make ends meet. Captain Dahk has looked out for you and maybe you have looked out for him, he isn't a bad guy, he was a charming son of a gun and a hell of a pilot but he wasn't dishonest and he never left a man or woman behind, it was part of his code. Supposedly, Dahk had been a soldier in the Empire before Kjang had taken control and turned the entire legion into an undead scourge. He doesn't like to talk about his past much though.

About three hours later, the Quarren sailors anchored their boat near the three-quarter aft docking door, you and the rest of the crew can see the blue Namken sun setting behind the colossal freighter ship. This size of a ship wasn't ever supposed to land on a planet and the thing itself was the size of a small city. As you look to your left, you see the head of the tanker resting on the sandy white beach of a small island, then to your right the tail of the tanker disappears under the ocean surface about halfway down the body. As you look back to the blastdoor, you can see why no one else has plundered this ship, the two triangles, side by side with one point each connected making a sharp infinity loop, the sign of the Eternal Empire.

Captain Dahk steps up to the door and examines the keypad, "Be handy to have a code cylinder about now." He intones with a hint of despair.

-Level 1-5, Max HP at first, roll or average every other level.
-Equipment: starter equipment plus background due to living a life on the fringes of the galaxy outside the influence of the Eternal Empire.
-Stats: standard array or 27 point buy
-Deadline: A long ways off. I want a few applications to choose from.

@hiruma: yes, you are correct. If you want a character that has that coming of age journey feel or an experienced veteran type, you can play either based on the amount of experience you give them in their backstory. Also, this leaves it open for a pupil/mentor pair of characters.

Definitely interested, will read up on the system and see what inspiration comes if you will accept this as placeholder for character to follow?

So from what I’m reading, it is possible based on what you laid out that the PC crew members may be of different levels starting off. Is this accurate?

@hiruma: yes, you are correct. If you want a character that has that coming of age journey feel or an experienced veteran type, you can play either based on the amount of experience you give them in their backstory. Also, this leaves it open for a pupil/mentor pair of characters.

Initial thoughts are Scout with the Mechanist (companion) archetype. Companion is a tracker droid, thinking dog/wolf form so he is kinda like that old cowboy from Battle angel Alita played by Jeff Fahey. A packmaster type hunter, just the one hound for now but hope to build up to a few more later and have a proper pack

@A7ice: this is an alternate timeline from SW but if I were to relate to a time period, it would be late Jedi Purge era.

I see... well, then why not set it up in some distant time, like 1500 BBY or 2000 ABY?

Anyway, so, Jedi/Sith are not possible? I mean, I thought about Sentinel, which also begs a question - do I have to be Light Side user if you allow Force users?

@A7ice: Jedi and sith are very possible, more possible even since they are essentially less of a big deal in the galaxy and more like reclusive religious orders. Go sentinel. Read the little spoiler button in the details section.

Flaw: I am too merciful, and empathize with those I shouldn't.

Appearance: Arida is a redhead with striking blue eyes who stands 5'10" (177cm) tall and slim at 121 lb (55kg). Most of the time, there is a taunting smile on her lips. She moves very feminine, softly and sultry, and there seemed to be the boiling agility of a predator in her every move and an almost physical scent of electric power around her. Though armed with a blaster on her hip, at her belt there is the menacing presence of a double-bladed lightsaber.

Backstory: Arida was born on Coruscant to a high-class courtesan named Aria and a noble named Elix. Her birth was part of a complicated political scheme. In the end, however, it backfired. Her mother was murdered, and Arida was to be killed as well, but she managed to escape. She encountered a gang led by a Drytt, a self-proclaimed Sith, and for years she lived on the lower levels, learning from Drytt, selling her skills, or stealing.

Her big break came when, as a preteen, she managed to get on board a freighter. She thought this was going to be her chance for an honest job. Especially since Bren, a former trooper turned mercenary who owned the freighter, took her under his wing. For the first time, Arida felt like part of a family, and those few years would always remain as the best part of her life.

Everything ended as the increasing grasp of Emperor Kjang pushed them toward less safe routes toward the Outer Rims. Their luck ran out and the Hydra Pirates attacked the ship. The pirates were a group of dark Jedi who, upon realizing Arida’s talent, took her in and she became a pirate and a Sith student.

At first, everything was great. Arida was learning quickly and learning a lot. She quickly excelled and even caused fear among others in the pirate group that she was too powerful. Internal machinations sidelined her, but she was hooked on the power of the Dark Side, and also, as she studied the Force itself, what it could offer in general. She began to feel that the Dark Jedi pirate group was limiting her, preventing her from studying the Force, so when they went after Captain Dahk, she used the opportunity and helped him better the Hydra Pirates. In the big battle, most of them died, the rest were scattered in every direction, and Arida got a chance to impress Dahk.

He took her in, but at first, Dahk wasn’t eager to trust her, but Arida quickly proved herself as a fearless and skillful warrior. She was good with blasters, but with dual-bladed lightsabers she had no match, plus she was an excellent infiltrator and interrogator. As time passed, she also proved herself to be loyal, with mutual respect. Her respect for Dahk as the captain and accepting his final saying, and his tolerance of her waywardness as long as it wasn’t causing too much trouble.

Relations:
Captain Dahk: They have known each other for about two years, and Arida respects Captain Dahk, probably as the only one on board, and he is the only one who can tell her what to do and expect she will do it. In exchange, the Captain has a loyal and capable infiltrator, interrogator, and sort of a commando. While she is more like a cat and likes to walk her own paths from time to time (especially in search of power), she is a reliable member of the crew he can count on.
Gurrfupayyc (Gurf): A loyal Wookie berserker is always a fantastic asset when fighting alongside you, and Arida respects the raw power he represents. On that level, she occasionally gains synergy with him in battle. She wished, however, he was so boringly kind. She is aware of his constant watch over her but disregards it as much as a cat disregards the watchful eye of a dog.
Mundaw Bindat: Knowledge is everywhere, and that is the main reason Arida didn't dismissed Mundaw outright as useful. The passing time proved her right, as she acknowledged his expertise and he grew on her. His pacifism tends to cause her to roll her eyes, and sometimes she likes to sneak up on him to scare the sh*t out of him, just for the fun of it.
Dahmia: The Chiss most of the time is irritating. Arida sees her as broken with her tendency to avoid facing her own emotions and her desire to do good. Arida tends to avoid her most of the time, but not dismiss her, acknowledging her potential. As long as she is part of the crew, Arida is going to tolerate her, and besides, sometimes her pursuit of helping innocents leads to interesting places.
Laar San-Rym:On Arida's list of people she likes on board the ship, Laar is near the top. He is easily bested by the Shadow though, with whom she instantly connected as a kindred spirit. Arida likes Laar for his simplicity and focus. On many occasions, they tended to work closely together, and she learned to rely on him as much as she felt she could rely on the captain.
HD-1903 "Traj": Why are the promising soldiers always broken? On the other hand, he has proven himself thus far; he does his job and is dependable. Enough to earn her respect and don't poke around in his head. Besides, what else does she need? At least he is cocky, and it is better than being boring.
Tok’yono "Tok": Now that is the potential! They have a lot in common. Self-improvement and emotions seem like the common denominator for them both, a nice addition to the Force, and possibly creating positive sparks here and there. Not to mention he is quite attractive, so she enjoys Tok's company, occasionally pushing his buttons but most of the time standing by his side when he needs it.
Roku Yulasis: An interesting being, making his reluctance, if not to say fear of her, quite appealing and entertaining. From time to time, she likes to push on that, testing the man.

Ideal: Greater Good. It is each person's responsibility to make the most happiness for the whole tribe. (Light)
Flaw: Don't expect me to save those who can't save themselves. It is nature's way that the strong thrive and the weak perish.

Appearance: 7' 10" tall, weighing 280 pounds and covered in black and brown dappled fur, Gruf is what non-Wookiees expect a Wookiee to be. With the addition of an enormous vibroaxe, a bandolier with Techaxes, powerpacks and a holstered Blaster, he looks ready to take on anyone. The wooden figurine of a feline strapped to his forehead with leather thongs, and his bright red eyes give most looking at him the idea that he is a crazed savage. Another Wookie sees a 'Defender of the Forests'.

Personality: Gurf sees Dahk, and his crew, as replacements for his Clan. He is fiercely loyal to all of them, providing they remain loyal to the Tribal elder. He is quiet and pensive after 45 years amongst other species who do not understand him, and will take any opportunity to be amongst trees. His age, and lack of a clear place within the crew, mean that he is often alone with his thoughts: and that seems to be a dark place. Yet he can be kind and playful; and is fond of children of all.species. He is an enigma that few have tried to unravel.
Backstory: Born in the backwoods of Kashyyyk, Gurf grew to adulthood in the 'Lioness' Clan. He learned to live amongst the trees, to trust his family and Clan with his life, and to follow the Honour Code of his people. As an adult, he joined the warbands that raided nearby Clans for resources; showing himself to be a master of the rage within him. As his prowess grew, his reputation grew: he was a mighty Defender of the Forests and expected to wear his Clan totem on his forehead at all times. He was given the honorific name of Lionpaw.

He was 55 when the wars came to the Lioness Clan. As Clones in white armour stormed into the forests, Gruf fought them, using his recently gained ability to throw axes and have them return to him with great effect. But there were too many of them, and they were too well equipped. They pushed the Clan back towards their home lands and the elders and young were at risk. Gurf fought until he collapsed wounded and exhausted and surrounded by the bodies of his foes.

He awoke three days later to find a human tending his wounds, and his people long gone. This act of kindness meant that, even though his people might still need him, he made the decision to team up with the human whose name was Jahk Jetstar. The human was a smuggler with a small freighter, who had landed near the battlefield to search for items he could sell. He left with a full load and a new bodyguard. The human, and his Wookiee companion, had many adventures and when old age led Jack to decide to settle down he asked his old friend, who by now was faster and deadlier than ever, to ship out with his son, Dahk, in the ship their years of smuggling had allowed them to buy. Having know the boy since he was born, Gurf agreed and became the first member of the Coruscant's crew.

'Uncle' Gurf has no formal rank or position on the ship. He just is. If Dahk needs muscle, Gurf is there! If Dahk needs help, it is given even if it was not asked for. And all the time, Gurf waits to hear from the Lioness Clan. Nothing else will draw him from the side of his adopted family.

Relations:
Dahk Jetstar:Gurf is close to the Captain. He allows Dahk to be Captain but anyone who wanted to take the job off him knows Gurf is ready to die to defend him. Gurf fights alongside him in battle and follows his orders without question. Dahk has known Gurf since his birth and has seen a very different side to the Wookiee than most other humans. Dahk is able to understand Shyriiwook so can translate for Gurf if he wants to.
Arida Sygg: She is dangerous. She might try to remove Dahk from the captaincy. Gurf watches her carefully. She is powerful but she is not invulnerable. If she makes a move, she will have him to contend with.
While she remains loyal, Gurf regards her as useful and an asset to the crew.
Monday Bindat: A Healer. Someone who appreciates the wonders of being part of a team. Gurf likes Mundat, though the Ithorian seems scared of him. Gurf keeps aloof from Mundat but watches over him. No need to scare someone who you like.
Dahmia: Gurf can feel the Light in Dhamia. He approves of her, and does not feel she is a threat to Dahk. Gurf likes her but keeps his distance simply because they have little in common.
Tok: Gurf can feel the Light in Tok. He approves of him, and does not feel he is a threat to Dahk. Gurf likes him but keeps his distance simply because they have little in common.
Laar: If there is a crewman, Gurf understands, it is Laar. Both are hunters, and have a similar view of others though the Kaleesh is a bit too close to the Dark for Gurfs liking. But Shadow: here is a droid made in the feline form wirh the stature of the Totem animal of his Clan. He cannot help but like her, and the feeling appears to be mutual.
Traj: The gruff soldier has made an impression on Gurf. He has the swagger and bravado expected of a warrior. He has Gurf's back in a fight and that counts for a lot. As a result, Gurf appreciates him.
Roku Roku is an emigma. Clearly on the side of Light, they are a cipher. As such, they need to be watched - not as careully as Arida, but watched.
Lunara: After 14 years on the ship, if there is one shipmate he gets on with it is Lunara. The two have fight alongisde each other regularly, and she was there when his attempts to chat up a female wookiee brought about a bar fight. She can't understand his speech, but she understands him.

NotesI made a start on a character in the online system. Will complete it if chosen but most of the major decisions made.

The rules make them fun to play by the look of it. And it would be fun to hear what everyone says but not be able to talk to them. We might need some sort of buddying up to make it work!
