Added a more detailed timeline for myself on the wiki - looking for input to make sure I'm not conflicting with anyone else (specifically Tanner and Celestine); I've left deliberate ambiguity in several places so I can easily fix things later.
Questions for Fil: 1) How quickly can I "unpossess" a host? I thought I read it was a free action somewhere, but I can't find any mention of it. I know I've read somewhere about "body hopping", which was essentially a rull round action to jump from one body to another. 2) Will I have any sense of when I approach a warded or anti-magic area? ie: will I be able to feel it coming and stop myself from walking into it? possibly as some sort of extension of spirit sight?

good questions.
1. yes. free action to ditch, standard action to ride. move action to get to the next host. the only kicker you have is that you need to be manifesting to possess. so plan your body hopping carefully, ad work the hide check. (move silet obviously automatic) have fun. 2. unless someone is in the zone, no. The lack of mental noise coming off of someone is an obvious indication that they are in a warded zone. Otherwise, you get as much advanced warning as anyone else. AMF = immediate eject. warded area = no entrance unless you are already possessing something... then you get a hide check to stay riding, but you'll lose control. if you fail the hide check, immediate eject. a protection from x spell basically frees the victim from control, but the possesor may still remain within. k'now, upon further consideration, AMF's won't force something into edgeworld... what if you're already there? then where? or in the beyond? far reaches? nope. doesn't work. AMF will duplicate a knockback effect to the edge of the field. walk into a AMF, you are rudely stonewalled. If you are already in a AMF area that goes active, you get kicked directly rom the center o the effect immediately, taking damage similar to the metamagic feat o the same effect. (AFB) you stay in the same plane of existence, but are limited by the AMF boundary... just as you would be with a prot from x area. that makes things a bit easier. you can still throw stuf at em tk fling style or whatever, just can't get closer. AMF-- if mobile-- will push you around tho without any save/resistance. if a summoned something gets pinned by an amf and then feels the squeeze, it will get shunted like a misstep of dim door.. but incorporeals will just move through the earth... if for whatever reason you get sandwiched between multiple AMF's treat it like a mistep with dimdoor. if a summoned something gets shunted into stone or bedrock or whatever, keep with dim door rules.tey could be in for a long haul and terrible damage.

Ok... now do those field effects cross the planar boundaries? Say there's an AMF on the material plane, can I pass through that same effective area if I'm in the ethereal?
Huzzah for body hopping. I can manifest as a free action once per round, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I would like to point out though: going by the possession rules (ECS), I don't need to manifest beforehand (which I suppose is what makes demonic possession really dangerous). However, as a ghost using malevolence I do. If you want me to manifest first, I'm ok with that. I just want to make sure we're on the same rules page (because goodness knows it's only going to get more complicated from here on for Sul ![]()

demons can' t manifest.. they are only in the edge possessing folks in the rime. good types typically can only channel into folks on the same plane, and can't go incorporeal at all. sul can do both. and must be manifesting to do both (although you can do either in the edge and beyond too, alothough sul is tangible in the beyond and edge sheesh. what a pain in the neck. my fault really.). oh hey! amf only affects the same plane, but you can't really do anything from the edge to anyone in a AMF on the prime.... if you manifest, you get shunted and take damage as per dimdoor.

Hey, I just realized something. My final level of Cabinet Trickster has the change shape ability, which technically means I can take on humanoid form. Heh, I totally forgot about that. Oh well, I'll just run around as a cat for the time being.

I know I'm posting early, but I couldn't resist. I am having more fun running this game-- this chapter-- than any other game in my LIFE.
I can't believe how FUN the eberron campaign is. I really appreciate you guys nudging me towards exploring this setting. It is by far the BEST fabricated game world ever. Thanks for being a part of the experience.

Those gems of security are very cheap for what they do. Once activated are they continuous or duration based?
I would like to note however, that protection from detect thoughts does not prevent me from using my mind tricks. It just takes longer (if I'm reading their thoughts I can do it as a swift/immediate action, otherwise it takes a standard action).

Yep. very cheap. These things make artificers a freaking fortune because they are in such high demand. Low price = high sales..
They are continual until deactivated. their intent is to make spying a bit tougher... scrying and what not is still posible on folks like this, but 100 some odd years ago society was so paranoid about possession that they became commo to those that could afford them. Now follks get them whether they believe in spirits or not. OFten built rigt into jewelry. I am in no way lookig to shut sul down, its a logical item in an impossible world. like you said, it only slows you down-- but posession become impossible. You guys don't even need to explain where you got one. its new to the game, so if you want one you could have gotten one lon ago. retro fixes like this are NP.
