I was thinking of a different kind of battlefield control build aside from the usual trip/kill/etc. type. Mainly, the Bull Rush stuff from Dungeonscape got me thinking about how best to use Domino Rush and Directed Bull Rush. They get phenomenally powerful with the Knockback feat, because you can hit people, without following them, and send them flying anywhere you want (within reason, of course) and if you knock one into the other, you get a free trip check! Good for clearing people away and disabling them, especially if I get Combat Brute for Sundering Cleave and mass destruction of stuff (although the group probably wouldn't appreciate breaking all the lewt).
I'll need to be a Goliath for this, which is actually not a problem because of gestalt and LAs only going on one side. However, I also thought of making a Warforged Juggernaut / Crusader, for a tank that's pretty much impossible to kill. Only problem - Warforged don't have large size or powerful build, which kind of negates the ability to smack people around like ninepins. Would the DM allow a feat for Powerful Build? EDIT: Other ideas I had were a psionic tripper gish and a stormtalon dragoon (flying mobility expert and flying charge attacker). I'm certainly not afraid of outpowering the casters, but I'm worried I might not be able to pull my weight. I'm mainly concerned because the books allowed come from a lot of sources, and not having experience with 3rd party material, I fear my optimization might be inferior. I would not allow powerful build for a warforged, simply because warforged chargers are a wonderful race type in races of eberron.
You can also take a regular warforged with 2 levels of psiwarrior and get items of expansion to coer your enlargement needs. There will be a fair amount of wilderness adventuring in the upcoming chapters, so plan accordingly. There is also a strict "no looting" policy in place, so sunder as much stuff as you want. That policy is located in the sidebar of the wiki. be sure to read through the whole wiki, including comments.

Warforged chargers are in Races of Eberron? It was the first Eberron book I'd purchased (before the campaign setting, heck), and I don't recall them being mentioned there. Now, warforged chargers ARE definitely in Monster Manual 3, along with warforged scouts.

Yeah, I noticed warforged chargers. However, the 4 HD and 4 LA is painful, so I'll probably stick with Goliath instead. Meanwhile, the plotting continues...

I'm waiting on Noldor force to explain how an all-Changeling party would *not* be awesome. Also, at least 2, better yet three Chameleons.
My main problem right now with my build is that I am stuck deciding between adding a full caster progression or a full ToB progression. Off the top of my head (so feats could be way off base here): Warblade 5/RevBlade5/EternalBlade10//Rng1/Ftr4/WarSh4/Cham10/SwdSg1 vs. Rng2Ftr2/WarSh4/RevBlade5/Chameleon7//I doesn't really matter because full casting is goodness. Thoughts? Would it be worth adding some bought-off template for kicks? The other option is to add Kensai or Legacy Champion for some ridiculous weapon, perhaps. oh, my bad, noldor. yer right. I'm AFB... so I just misremembered.
Meh. Goliath are okay. now with titan bloodlines-- GOLIATH ARE AWESOME!! titan bloodline would give you your power attack and improved sunder as free feats (which yer using anyway) as well as oversized weapon at level 12... coupled with powerful build of goliath, yer using huge sized weapons on yer medium assed frame. plus SR = HD +2 just a thought, tho. you sizzle 3 levels of stuff... but on the crusader side of the equation, yer still gaining IL's... so no REAL loss.

y'know, I'm personally flabbergasted that no one has contemplated the artificer at all.
Not that I mind... the weaker the better, I say. ![]() Of course, In my games, that is who Bigby is... a female whisper gnome with legacy item gloves of bigby... so I always have two large sized bigby's pummelling/crushing/squishing/pushing fists of doom floating around to screw up people with a mere concentration check while hurling incantatrixed/infused dual wands of split/twinned/maximized empowered searing scorching rays. It's fun watching a little girl in perfect flight locking grips with a storm giant while belting him for 576 points of blisterng damage each round. rinse repeat who's next-- always a good time. Anyone read battle chasers? fantastic comic. VERY eberron. she's Kinda like gnolan and the little girl blended together... but mean. I've got a DM patent on those glove of Bigby by the way... can't have you mooks stealing her best gear. If you start kicking around the beyond long enough, you'll probably run across her Labratory. She is legendary, after all, though most folks think she's some old codger. Tenser's like that too... everyone thinks he's some old guy with dusty books. He kicks a lot of ass too. Like a young Harison Ford. Otto is old, though. bad hip stopped his dancing long ago. Oh well. I don't expect any cameos. but if you want to, you can go find 'em. Bigby's my favorite. I've yet to see a game where I can play her, though. The custom gear is a bit too much.

I thought about an Artificer, but I didn't feel like being quite that disgusting. Also, bookkeeping. Yuck.

Nothing's wrong with a party of changelings, chameleons, or both. I was simply making a witty remark in response to the apparent trend.
I'd suggest going with the first build for two reasons: -You're taking Chameleon levels earlier, which you'll generally want to do. (You can always use bait-and-switch to advance them later.) -You've actually, well, finished it. If Fil hadn't said no to AE casting...I might have gone with a mind witch (preferably verrik), just because using a Mind Blade as a constant melee touch attack is quite fun. |

EDIT: I looked up the SRD, and it seems good. Add Feral into the mix and the circle shall be nearly complete... although randomsyllable may have his guy done first. I'll probably finish by the weekend; where should I post the character? This thread or the wiki? Last edited by Silent Wayfarer; Mar 9th, 2007 at 10:01 PM. |

Bloodline levels, in a CO sense, basically add effective levels to all classes for the purposes of determining variables that use your class level. There are a bunch of accompanying bonuses, but most of those are generally small. This came up immediately after the hellfire warlock came out, considering that the extra hellfire damage is 2d6 per class level. The class itself only has three levels, but when you add in things like bloodlines, legacy champion, and uncanny trickster, you can make a really strong blaster.

Awesome. Yeah, I remember the Hellfire Warlock - how are you guys dealing with the Con damage? Naberius or Strongheart Vest?
Also, the way this Goliath is going, there's going to be a lot of stacked LAs here. How do you buy those off? Because apparently, you can only buy off one LA every (LA x3) character levels, which effectively means that I can only have LA +2 if I want to buy it off within 10 levels. |

Celestine is using the Strongheart Vest, considering that the opportunity cost of a feat is generally less than that of a level.
I believe that you won't need to buy the LA off if you've set things up properly. Basically, LA is (in this game) in some respects equal to normal class levels. Thus, you can (for your first level) have something like Fighter//Goliath LA. |
