It's your call as always. In the long run it winds up making more work for you though, especially when the party breaks up into smaller teams and you have multiple threads to manage. Balance becomes a tricky issue too.

Our posting rates are also in a weird flux right now too, since a bunch of us are students and/or busy with work, so everything is moving rather slowly. With more players, is there such a thing as posting too much?

I'll just bite the bullet and run the team at it's eventual seven. I'll just have to up the challenges accordingly. I think it'll be fine. In the future, we may break into separate teams. you'll spill into tangents occasionally, so there will be that.

I hate to say this, but I'm pretty sure I'll be dropping out sometime in the not-so-distant future, which will make it back to 6 ... I'm not in any rush to leave, but life just has more pressing things. (For that matter, if someone wanted, my character could become their cohort).

This will probably happen sometime in the next month or two ...

The whole "Tanner as someone's cohort" thing sounds amusing. And possible if/when someone buys off the Fire-Souled template. Which Vintereth may eventually do just to keep Tanner in the game.

Fire-souled is supposedly from one of the issues of Dragon (#314), which I have read few of and own none of. I'd picked it up while looking at the CrystalKeep summaries. It apparently gives:

• +4 Charisma.
• The Leadership feat (or +2 to your score if you have the feat already).
• Immunity to stunning and dazing.
• The fire subtype.
• Overwhelming Passion, the ability to suppress Charisma-based special attacks for a couple of rounds. (It requires both a successful touch and a failed save, however.)
• Some other relatively minor stuff.

All for +1 LA, similar to Half-Minotaur.

Noldor, I just looked at the issue and its LA +3, not LA +1. Its CR +1, though. Doesn't seem very worthwhile at LA +3.

sorry about sul and aurok getting all this "adventure" while everyone else is "stuck" doing ivestigative work... truth be told, they are worth aout the same xp... one is beig threatened, while the other is solvig a puzzle.

fair tradeoff, but one is certainly more exciting than the others.

everyone will have the opportunity to bask in the consequences of their actions soon enough-- although the main team could bail on this and just start killing at will... which is certainly exciting, but will force me to go a very different route.
Maybe I should have the adjuster be a marut waiting to dispense karmic justice on the team for some reason.... Hey david.. do you mind if I suddenly have tons of maruts coming after tanner for tampering with the far beyond?
That would be...
1. a suitable "penalty" for working with taboo arcana
2. give you a wonderfully nightmarish last two months, ending with tanner either being dead or running like hells from eberron to "lead them away".



Y'know... I was joking a second ago... but that might actually be a lot of fun! It is a MAJOR tangent from where I plan to go with the plot, but since David has to check out anyway....

Just got my copy of the magic item compendium. Haven't had a chance to look through it yet but there is a lot of awesomeness in there. My favorite is a bag of seeds ... its a relic item (so to use its full properties you must either have a feat or give up a spell slot). Costs 1600 g. Non-relic powers are to make 3 acorns a day that function as goodberries. Relic powers are, again, 3 acorns a day, but you can use them to either a) throw an acorn and make a treant for an hour, b) throw an acorn and make a wall or thorns, or c) throw an acorn for 11d6 fire damage explosion. Or just eat them as goodberries! And all for 1600 g and either a feat or a spell slot (and if you take the feat its assumed you'd be getting other relic items too, I think). Wowee!
