He let them get on with it, intervening only to surreptitiously levitate the rain barrel over the bar in order to spare Z's blushes when the poor man tried to lift it in an effort to impress Kristine. Her confusion at Rock's story evokes a chuckle from the inquisitor though, "Oh come now dear, you know as well as we do why men lose their bearings about you, just ask poor Z here" He jerked a claw in the direction of flustered bartender, who quickly went from a shade of bright pink to deep red, "Why, it's just like that poor train driver - damn near drove that whole train off the lightning rail he was so busy catching glances at you. It's a good thing Sul can levitate that much weight, no way I could've held that carriage up in the air and moved the rail underneath it on my own!"

Rockfoot's good nature refused to be terse when Kristine feigned ignrance of both her alluring presence and his own confusing origins. "Yea, do you stop many a parade missy. I, however, am only privy to factual knowledge of my own birth on every third Wednesday... And often only in the months adjacent to a Solstice..." He trailed off momentarily, but seemed to be excited about memories of the train job.
A smile preceded his added comments. "Ahhh... The Train of Thawt. I recall hanging from the bottom of the second car with one hand and firing arrows from my bow to replace missing track timbers with the bowstring clenched in my teeth." He nods several times. "What was it last time, Kristine? As I recall there was a certain matter with one of Lawrence's Concubines and a vat filled with a Black Pudding, no? You put up an excellent fight..."

It was not a black pudding Rock... and as for this whole stopping parades business... look I know you all seem to be under this delusion that I am good looking or something. May I remind you that I am not. Why the last guy I asked up to my room stuttered so bad with his refusal I took it upon myself to say ti for him. jeez get over it.
She pauses, takes a deep draught of her wine and then gives Rock a hearty glare. And why am I the only one telling stories? Rock its your turn... before you get another one out of me. She turns and her finger points unerringly at Gwyn... As for you... Im still waiting for your tale.... and I did not have anythign to do with that incompetent pilot deciding to throw the train off the freaking rail. |

"Story..." The wrinkled, dusty face looks up at the ceiling for a few moments, then peers back at the gathered adventurers with a twinkle in his eye. "Well, I do remember the time we were the Vanguard for that hoard of Halflings who were trying to win back their province from the Ettin World Watchmen Wyrd. There was quite some discussion about how we were to attack EWWW without endangering the lives of so many short men who were supposed to be on our side. Do you remember, Gwynn? I think you wanted to leave the Halflings behind and take on two thousand Ettins by ourselves."

"Two thousand? I could have sworn it was only a thousand last time you told the tale," says Xiv, stroking his chin thoughtfully as he ponders this problem. "But - ah - I suppose it is all a matter of how one does the counting. With ettins, a count of bodies would give a different number than a count of heads, no? You would have twice as many! Or many, many fewer, depending on whether you were counting before or after the battle, eh?" Xiv smiles and gives Rock a good-natured elbow to the ribs, apparently forgetting that those ribs and practically all of the flesh on top of them are the consistency of solid stone. His grin suddenly becomes one of the pained variety as he clutches his funny bone.
"Ah. As you say, though, that was quite a day. If my memory does not deceive me, you actually picked up and threw several of the little fellows right out of harm's way that day, did you not? I will never forget those tiny screams. Though I think they must have rather enjoyed it, as the younger ones kept asking you to do it again even after the battle was over . . ." |

"Never work with halflings or dinosaurs may be an old saying, but it's as true now as it was when the first King of Galifar ascended to the throne. I'd rather take on twenty thousand ettins on my own than trust to a pack clawfeet at my back!
Of course, trying to tell a High Councillor that in election year requires a certain amount of tact. I tell you, I nearly fainted when I saw the little folk appear on our left flank halfway through like that. Glad they did though, that battle wasn't going nearly as well as I'd planned up to that point - who knew Half-fiend Ettins could make such good Sorcerers? Sometimes two heads really are better than one!"

Continuing without knowledge of Xiz's elbow, RockFoot chuckles at the circular conversation. "Wasn't that the same Councilor that Kristine led around by the nose for three months afterwards? I think we ended up having use of his Castle for the next few years thanks to her wiles. Unfortunately it was sized for halflings so I spent all of my time in the Bailey..."

Oh yes Jonathan... he was such a sweet man. Always willing to help me find an interesting scroll or something in the library. He was quite nice... and really wasn't all that much shorter than I am. Still he did go a little over board when he moved my things into his room I mean what was I supposed to do? Sleep on the floor? And when you tripped over that ladder... oh my was his face funny. He thought his whole castle was coming down.
Katherine chuckles happily. Still it wasn't nearly as bad as poor Leonard's mansion remember him. The wizard who lost control of his little manticore farm. We were pulling spikes out of poor Gwyn for days. Another long pull of her wine and Katherine has emptied a second bottle. |

Resume Disbelief... "Manticores, yeah. They were cute. Fluffy... But they've been bred down so they can be domesticated. We had the real thing back home. Gianticores. Now there were some pretty beasts..." RockFoot leaned back against a center column and rubbed his bald head while he smiled at his memories.

"It's been fun catching up... but I've got mandalas to draw."
Katherine says as she slips out of her barstool and heads ot the door. The barkep looks like he ants to cry, but th generous tip left in her stead will get him thorugh the night. ((OOC: sorry to see you go, dog. swing by anytime! ))

Sul sits quietly in the corner of the bar, inhabiting the body of one of the regular who had fallen asleep in his grog. Though brought back to a "conscious" state, the body's responsiveness left much to be desired. An attempt to stand met with utter failure as his legs refused to support his own weight. In fact, he had trouble keeping his own head upright.
"So when are we supposed to meet this Sul fellow? Rock asks of Gwyn. "You say we've worked together a few times now, and I *think* I've seen his handiwork, but I've seen hide nor hair of this mysterious friend of yours. I'm beginning to think he's just an 'imaginary' guardian angel of yours." Rock motions his hands in mock somatic gestures during the word imaginary, hinting that this so-called-Sul's involvement was really just Gwyn's or Celestine's magic at work. "Oh, he'll show himself eventually" replies Gwyn. "He's rather shy sometimes... well, perhaps 'shy' isn't the correct word... you'll see what I mean."
