And I could even alter slightly Roc's last twenty-five years, to make him a little bit more subdued. His rambunctious nature would have given way to a quieter, more self-reflective kind of mystique; people would stay away from him because he's so quiet, rather than because he carries around a giant sword. ![]() |

That, or he would drink more heavily.
![]() But seriously, would he be the kind of person to self reflect, or the kind of person to turn to a bad habit to escape having to self-reflect? Either way it could be good RP.

I'm perfectly fine with the succubus working Roc over slowly over time. That may explain why he was so quick to take "first watch" ever night you guys camped...the pretty lady visited him again, and again.
Well, I think we answered both Major questions, what would pull you into retirement, and the second being what would take you out of retirement (hence the name of the game)--but here's one more or this could be a relatively short game: What would KEEP you out of retirement. If you find your old adventuring buddies (for good or ill), what's to keep you adventuring?

Well, offhand I'd say a sense of duty - if something comes up that we are the best choice for dealing with it, Andreal will do so. Alternatively, financial hardship - nothing like having to suddenly quit your cushy teaching job and hit the road to deplete cash reserves. And nothing like adventuring to fill depleted cash reserves.

Adventure savings are getting short, he wants to make sure his protege is doing okay, and his alchemical research has hit a dead-end. There was always something about adventuring that inspired his breakthroughs. Plus, Kelvin won't abandon his friends if he can be a help to them.

Dawn's such a bundle of hyper-activity that I doubt she'd retire again with or without the party. But with is better than without. She settled down to raise her kids, but now that they're grown, she doesn't need to be settled anymore. She's in it for the thrill.

The same is almost true for Roc. The way that he left the group also left him feeling restless, like something had been awakened in him that needed time to grow, and he'd been denying it that privilege by retiring it for twenty-five years.
Also, I imagine that Thorvald would have stopped teaching him when he retired; with his return to adventuring, his mentor would likely continue his education, to whatever ends it might lead. |

For Barrett and some of the rest of you I imagine--the constant looking would be trying to find "the big one again" the one that could set you all for the rest of your lives...and better allow you to accomplish your goals.

The gorilla is too big to be hanging around in the hops field. Phin needs to lose some weight. But, I think he needs some sense of duty, He needs to feel like what he is doing is for the betterment of mankind, not just for his own pleasure.

Kai is doing it because it's fun and she needed some sort of actual adventure, her day to day life wasn't doing it for her
