its better that we get the obligatory sewer level out of the way now than have to kill giant rats at level 6 when we won't gain xp for them.

Nope. The summoner ability Summon Monster differs from the regular spell in that aspect - 1 min/level instead of 1 round/level.

BTW, since I tend to be a light weekend poster, I'll let you guys (Jamien/Faunryn) RP going down the trapdoor or not. I'll have a post on Monday for those who go down, and a separate one for those who don't. Figure that it takes that long in game time (how ever long the RPing takes) for the Hellknights to break the door down. If for some reason, everyone ends up in the same place before the end of the weekend, I'll try and have a post for you before Monday.

Heh. A player of mine had a habit of unsummoning his eidolon whenever he wasn't in combat, so I gave him a run-down of the ability. He used it to great effect against a couple of dark stalkers - summoned a couple of giant spiders who basically crippled and then ate the things. Of course, it took him at least half an hour to decide what he was going to summon.

I know. Hence now days anyone who use the spell in my group needs the monster ready before they cast the spell OR they know exactly what they want to summon. It became a popular spell with my bard who went ahead and name her fire elemental and use it often.
