He didn't punish the rogue because his goddess already did, but, for his efforts and loyalties through the session, was actually rewarded with a blessed weapon. So I guess he should thank the rogue?

I'm actually okay with the slower pace; that's why I love the forums and don't try to play rolld20 or anything like that. (Yet, at least.) Life is bananas, you know? Not everyone can be available at a moment's notice, and I try not to expect anyone else to be more available than I am. Honestly we're doing wayy more posting this last two days than I anticipated, and I can only keep up because I happen to be on a lazy weekend.

Hey, so it's come up once or twice and I did want to mention - if you see something that just looks fun or like it really fits your character, point it out for me! You know, I loved Baldur's Gate and I'm enjoying the Pathfinder Kingmaker game but heck if they don't remind me how hard they trained us all to choose mechanics over flavor! If I have to spend another ten minutes buffing my whole party before every encounter and then pausing to micromanage every round, I swear to Groetus I'll just pack it all in. I don't want to make you all optimize just to survive; quite the reverse, I want to be able to reward you for great RP decisions!

I guess the distinction I'd like to make is - sure, if you charge into situations unprepared when your character knew better, there might be consequences. But if your character stumbles unprepared into a situation that you as a player knew could be optimized - I hope I never make you feel bad for that. One of the most enlightening and entertaining moments I ever had on these forums was when I watched my fellow player try to Command a ghoul - he knew it was immune, but his witch didn't! He blew a spell (at low level as a caster!) and wasted a whole round and got bit, and it turned into a whole arc where we had to find her a cure and she had to make will saves to keep from eating flesh and it was brilliant!

So many players are afraid to make those kinds of decisions because of the potential for disaster, but I think that's where some of the best writing comes in, you know?

So if you like one thing, but it seems too slow or like some other (less interesting but more mechanically viable) option would be "better," bring it up in your thread and we'll see if there's either a way to adjust it or if I can convince you that it's not so terrible.

[EDIT] - On a similar note! You know how some games run with Hero points? What do you think about the idea of Prophecy points? You could spend them to use a class ability from your potential future (maybe spend one point, use a skill from a level away?). I'm thinking you could gain them by nominating one another in private (you'd PM me, probably, explaining why you think someone's post deserves a point).

Still workshopping the idea, but your input is welcome!

I just think it sucks that there are spells you HAVE to take and spells you can NEVER take when there is SO MUCH CONTENT in this game! Like, you're telling me that I have to take CLW and Identify when spells like Fumbletongue exist? Just no.

Agreed. I've never really gone by "what you have to have" except for maybe Detect Magic. And I usually try to do my spells themed.

Will we be starting at level 1?

I'm also thinking of instituting a limited version of the ritual casting from 5e - basically, if you have access to some spells like Detect or Identify, you can take extra time to cast them without using slots. It's great for RP and useless in combat.
